Chapter 18 Bless Me

Her message wasn't finished when the killer emerged, something in his hand, clamped tightly over her mouth and nose, rendering her instantly unconscious.

Glancing at the calendar on the wall, she recalled the rainy day was July 1st, and now it was July 8th.

This meant today was her seventh day.

What she hadn't expected was for the killer to dare return, and to use the same method of killing her to harm her sister.

"Xinxin, Xinxin," Wu Jiahui crouched down, calling softly into Wu Jiaxin's ear.

She was pacing frantically but couldn't wake Wu Jiaxin directly.

After calling out several times, Wu Jiaxin showed no reaction.

She looked under the bed, and a hand suddenly reached out from beneath it, followed by a black baseball cap.

The man in black began to emerge from under the bed, his body half-exposed.

Wu Jiahui was extremely fearful and knew she had to do something. If her sister died before her eyes, she would never forgive herself.

She looked at the cup, raising her hand to grasp it.

Her hand passed through the cup, but she was persistent, trying again and again to grab it.

Just as the man in black was half-emerged from under the bed, Wu Jiahui felt like she had grasped the cup.

She pushed the cup with all her might.

With a "crash," the cup fell from the table, shattering into pieces.

The man in black froze for a moment at the sound, then quickly retracted the half of his body that was out.

Wu Jiaxin was startled awake by the noise, lifting her head, her hair disheveled. She first glanced at the broken cup, her mood already bad, now even worse.

She had intended to lie back down, but then she thought of her sister. Her sister was a tidy person; if she were here and saw the cup smashed to pieces without cleaning it up, she would surely be scolded severely.

Today was her sister's seventh day. She remembered the elders saying that those who died on their seventh day would return to visit their family.

If her sister came back and saw this, she surely wouldn't be happy.

With this thought, Wu Jiaxin got up, put on her slippers, and crouched down to pick up the shards of glass.

Wu Jiahui saw the man in black slowly emerge from under the bed again, reaching out his hand towards her sister.

His palm was tightly clutching a white cloth.

Wu Jiahui struggled to push down a glass cup.

With a "crash," the glass cup instantly shattered.

The sound not only startled Wu Jiaxin but also caused the man in black behind her to immediately shrink back.

Wu Jiaxin looked around, first glancing out the window, where the wind blew the curtains.

She gathered the broken glass shards into her palm, threw them into the nearby trash can, and swept the area.

After doing so, she sat back on the bed.

Despite being very hungry, she didn't want to eat anything.

Taking off her slippers, Wu Jiaxin lay back down on the bed, turning onto her side to play with her phone.

Finding the data cable wasn't long enough, she turned back over.

She opened her sister's profile picture and clicked on her sister's Moments.

Her sister's Moments were forever frozen on July 1st.

Her sister had posted a photo of her cooking ribs.

Rent in Jiangcheng City was very expensive; the one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment she shared with her sister cost 1500 a month.

They cooked and ate in the bedroom.

Her sister's biggest dream was to open a wedding dress shop, so she could capture the happiest smiles.

The more she stared at the photo, the more distressed Wu Jiaxin felt, tears uncontrollably dripping onto the phone screen.

Wu Jiaxin sobbed twice, wiped her tears, and used her hand to wipe the tears from the phone screen.

Just as she was about to look at other photos of her sister.

Wu Jiaxin suddenly noticed something: at the bottom right of the bed in the photo, a black shoe sole was exposed.

She brought the phone closer to her eyes and zoomed in on the photo.

It was a pair of black sneakers, and they had never bought black sneakers.

The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became.

When the police had investigated, her sister's body was found in a patch of grass by the Jiangshuilongtan riverbank.

Her sister had been taken away and brutally murdered.

She had always thought her sister was missing, and when the body was found, she couldn't believe the news.

She thought of a possibility: the killer had returned home before her sister and had been hiding under the bed.

The killer's location was likely the home; after killing her sister, they had meticulously cleaned up any traces.

The police had investigated the premises and found no signs of forced entry.

Moreover, it was an old residential area with no surveillance cameras.

However, a camera on the roadside had recorded her sister's appearance.

"Could it be that after killing my sister, the killer took off her clothes and disguised themselves as her to create the possibility that my sister was killed outside?"

"Thus overlooking that the home was actually the scene of the murder."

Wu Jiaxin zoomed in on the photo. The black shoe wasn't very large, suggesting the killer wasn't particularly tall.

Wu Jiaxin continued scrolling through her phone, growing more frightened with each swipe.

She discovered that in many of the photos her sister had taken, that black shoe appeared.

The angle of the shoe in each photo was different; some showed only a corner, others barely the edge of the shoe.

Only by zooming in could one make out the details.

Coupled with the shoe's position near the foot of the bed, and the fact that it wasn't large, it was easy to mistake it for their own shoes.

This meant the killer had been hiding under their bed for a long time.

Even when they were sleeping, the killer was under the bed.

When they were asleep, the killer likely moved around the house.

The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became, a chill running down her spine, her hair standing on end.

Especially when she recalled an instance of returning home early, the bedspread had been neatly folded, but that day it was very wrinkled.

During the day, her sister went to work, and she went to school.

And the killer was inside the house, lying on their bed, inhaling the scent of their pillows.

"Could the killer be under the bed right now?"

The thought of this possibility made Wu Jiaxin's body tremble.

"How could that be? My sister's case was such a sensation; how could the killer be here?"

"Could they be under the bed?" Once the thought appeared, it wouldn't leave Wu Jiaxin's mind.

She started to panic, swallowing hard.

Wu Jiaxin slowly lowered her head, her long hair brushing against the floor.

Her forehead touched the bed frame, but before she could look down, Wu Jiaxin immediately pulled back, her heart pounding rapidly.

She was in a panic.

"If they are really under the bed, they'll rush out the moment they see me."

"No, my sister's revenge hasn't been avenged yet. If I die, who will find the killer for my sister?"

Wu Jiaxin took deep breaths, opened a food delivery app, and randomly selected a restaurant to place an order.

In the remarks, she wrote, "Please help me call the police; I am in danger."

After placing the order, Wu Jiaxin picked up a pillow and stuffed it into her clothes, creating a makeshift form of protection.

She tightly gripped the data cable.

She couldn't be sure if the killer was under the bed, nor dared she look, nor would she leave the spot.

What if she got off the bed and turned around, exposing her back for the killer to attack?

The only thing that gave her a sense of security was the wall behind her.

"Sister, if you are here, please protect me!"
