Chapter 52 The Money Was Barely Warm

The man's expression instantly turned grim.

"Are you playing with me?"

Chen Mo's face also became serious. "If you can't produce the money, then please leave."

The man chuckled instead of getting angry. "Heh heh, you have a lot of guts. No one has ever dared to speak to me like this before."

"Is that so? That's because you haven't met me sooner," Chen Mo said dismissively.

"Dr. Chen, I hope you remember what you've said today and don't regret it." With that, the man got up to leave.

Just then, the door to Chen Mo's examination room was pushed open.

Tian Mengyao walked in, holding a patient's file.

The man glanced at Tian Mengyao, ignored her, and walked directly towards the door.

However, the man's attitude towards Tian Mengyao made Chen Mo feel a bit puzzled.

"Who is that? He doesn't look like a patient," Tian Mengyao asked curiously as she watched the man leave.

Chen Mo was taken aback. "Mengyao, you don't recognize him?"

Tian Mengyao shook her head. "No, I've never seen him before."

"Are you sure you haven't seen him?"

Tian Mengyao frowned slightly and nodded seriously. "I'm sure I haven't seen him. Why do you seem so strange all of a sudden?"

Chen Mo's face suddenly lit up with joy.

He got up and chased after the man towards the door.

"Hey, where are you going?" Tian Mengyao quickly asked.

"To make money. Wait for me, I'll be back soon." As he spoke, Chen Mo's figure had already disappeared out the door.

"Hey, wait a minute!"

As Chen Mo stepped out, he saw the man from before, escorted by two bodyguards, about to take the elevator downstairs.

Hearing Chen Mo's voice, the man stopped and looked back.

"Do you still stand by what you said earlier?" Chen Mo asked, approaching the man.

The man frowned and retorted, "Are you planning to go back on your word?"

Chen Mo nodded. "Yes, I've thought it over carefully. I've decided to agree to your request. After all, I have no money or power, and there's no need for me to make an enemy of a prominent figure like you."

"Dr. Chen is a wise man who knows when to yield. I admire that," the man said with a mocking smile.

He had initially thought Chen Mo was a difficult character, but he hadn't expected him to be just another commoner willing to sell out love for money.

"Tell me, how much are you willing to pay?" Chen Mo asked.

The man's lips curved upwards. He took out the checkbook from his pocket again, tore out a page, wrote down a number, and handed it to Chen Mo.

When Chen Mo saw the amount on the check, he was stunned.

"One million?!"

Chen Mo hadn't expected the other party to give him so much money! Just for him to leave a woman he didn't even know!

"I hope Mr. Chen will keep his word, otherwise, the consequences will be severe."

Seeing Chen Mo's shocked expression, the man, with the air of a victor, mockingly said to Chen Mo.

"Don't worry, Mr. Ouyang," Chen Mo replied with a smile.

On the check, Chen Mo saw Ouyang Fuhua's signature.

He then happily walked back towards the examination room, clutching the check.

"Young Master, will this person really keep his promise? Should we find someone to put more pressure on him?"

The bodyguard standing beside Ouyang Fuhua asked.

Ouyang Fuhua sneered and shook his head. "One million is enough to make him this happy. He's just a clown who'll do anything for money, not worth worrying about."

After speaking, the elevator arrived at their floor, and Ouyang Fuhua stepped into it.

At this moment, Chen Mo was in an exceptionally good mood.

He hadn't expected that today, while he was worrying about money, someone would just hand him a million!

He had never seen so much money in his life, let alone a check.

Returning to the examination room, he saw Tian Mengyao looking at him with suspicion. Chen Mo said cheerfully, "Mengyao, what do you want to eat tonight? My treat."

"Haven't we received our salary for today yet?" Tian Mengyao asked, confused.

Chen Mo waved the check in his hand.

"Where did you get this check?" Tian Mengyao asked, astonished.

When she saw the amount, her face was even more shocked. "One million?! Where did you get so much money?"

Chen Mo recounted what had happened.

Tian Mengyao listened, dumbfounded. "Are you saying that someone suddenly came to you today and gave you a million, just for you to leave a woman, and you don't even know who that woman is?"

Chen Mo nodded.

"My goodness, is that person crazy?" Tian Mengyao's eyes widened in shock.

But she couldn't help but ask, "What if that person asked you to leave me?"

"Then, of course, I would have refused. I refused before because I thought it was you. But when I saw that you didn't know each other, I realized that the person wasn't talking about you at all."

Chen Mo quickly explained.

Hearing Chen Mo's answer, a subtle smile of happiness, unnoticed by Chen Mo, appeared on Tian Mengyao's lips.

"What do you want to eat tonight? My treat," Chen Mo asked Tian Mengyao.

Now that he had money, he naturally couldn't take Tian Mengyao to a roadside stall.

Tian Mengyao said apologetically, "Maybe another day. My best friend invited me to dinner tonight, and we made plans a few days ago."

Chen Mo could only nod in agreement.

After lunch, Chen Mo went to the bank with the check and deposited the one-million-dollar check into his bank account.

However, before Chen Mo could even enjoy the money.

The voice of his ancestor echoed in his mind, "You brat, now that you have money, go buy medicinal ingredients. Your current physique is still far from meeting the standards for cultivation!"

Chen Mo looked helpless, but this was a matter of his life, and he dared not treat it lightly.

He had no choice but to go to Shenzhi Tang again and buy another set of the same medicinal ingredients as yesterday.

When paying, seeing sixty thousand deducted from his bank card, Chen Mo still felt a pang of pain.

"Mr. Chen, here are the medicinal ingredients you need."

A moment later, a store clerk handed Chen Mo the packed items.

Looking at the large bags of medicinal ingredients in his hands, Chen Mo thought that he must find more ways to make money, otherwise, he wouldn't even have enough to buy medicine.

"Old lady, I've told you several times, this plaster cannot be returned! Are you deaf? If everyone comes here to return medicine, how can we do business?!"

Just then, an impatient voice came from the hall.

An old woman with white hair was pushed out of a small room by a middle-aged man in a white coat.

"But, but your medicine doesn't work." The old woman explained anxiously.

The middle-aged man frowned and retorted, "This is Chinese medicine, not an injection for a cold or fever. If you don't finish it, how can it be effective? Don't delay our business!"

With that, the middle-aged man pushed the old woman in front of him again, urging her to leave quickly.

The old woman, already stooped, stumbled when pushed by the man, and her body suddenly tilted backward.

Suddenly, a figure appeared behind the old woman.

He steadied the old woman who was about to fall.

"Oh dear." The old woman let out a cry of pain.

Clutching her waist, her face was pale, and her whole body was trembling, clearly frightened by what had just happened.
