Chapter 90: Chapter 88: 4 Major Corps (Part 4)

The Copper and Iron issue has always been a thorn in Austin’s side ever since the discovery of Copper Ore in the mountain range that day. Austin has been eyeing that Jackal Wolfman Tribe to the north, waiting for his Clan’s power to grow strong enough to take them down.

However, as time went on, Austin was shocked to find that the development speed of that Jackal Wolfman Tribe was in no way inferior to his own Dragon’s Nest Tribe!

This was incredible,

The Dragon’s Nest Tribe has been "cheating" for its subordinate clan, with Dragon Nest Beastmen sweeping through one tribe after another with unbeatable superiority, constantly expanding in size to get to the scale it is today. Meanwhile, Austin has had to solve numerous difficulties during this period.

But what on earth did that Jackal Wolfman Tribe rely on to break through a population of over a thousand in just half a year?

Not to mention other things, just the food issue alone, in this hundred-mile radius, merely hunting and gathering with Beastmen’s current primitive methods can’t possibly sustain a tribe of a thousand people.

Where does the Jackal Wolfman Tribe get its food? They don’t farm, so how do they sustain such a large food consumption?

Plus, after the last cold winter, the micro tribe established by Lizardman Rodney was breached. Rodney was then captured while attacking the Dragon’s Nest Tribe, and it was learned from him that the leader of the Jackal Wolfman Tribe is likely a Bronze Level Extraordinary Professional.

An Extraordinary Professional means possessing the key to extraordinary power, a Breathing Technique.

To possess a Breathing Technique, one’s identity can’t be simple, and it was then Austin saw a fog appear around the leader of the nearby Jackal Wolfman Tribe.

Combining all these factors, the only possibility is that the Jackal Wolfman Tribe is backed by significant origins, possibly even strong supporters, to support the rapid population expansion of the whole tribe.

Understanding this made Austin increasingly uneasy. As the urge to eradicate it grew stronger, he became even more cautious.

After half a year of laying low until now, Austin’s forces have expanded rapidly from a few Beastmen to now nine Dragon Vein Attendants, quasi-warrior type extraordinaries, possessing two magical items belonging to Fox-faced Man Quik, and are fully mobilized to assemble a legion of fourteen hundred.

This formidable strength gave Austin the confidence to confront the Jackal Wolfman Tribe, and with the attack and capture of the Centaur Tribe, the Dragon’s Nest Tribe has now experienced a peaceful period for over half a month. With several seasons of harvests of kudzu root, food is not lacking, and the Dragon Nest Beastmen are in high spirits.

The day of war with the Jackal Wolfman Tribe is already within reach.

Austin has ordered the Goblins in the manufacturing workshop to speed up the production of arrows, Wooden Spears, Wooden Shields, and various weapons to prepare for the war with the Jackal Wolfman Tribe.

During this time of preparation, Austin began implementing military reforms on the main strength of the Dragon’s Nest Tribe.

"The differences between different races are somewhat obvious after all."

On the huge square, looking at the uneven heights of the Beastmen, Austin pondered secretly.

In the early development of the Dragon’s Nest Tribe, due to the scarcity of population, Austin had to implement a policy of all citizens being soldiers. Even different races of Beastmen were grouped into the same corps, and during warfare, they would gather into formations, pushing forward mindlessly.

This group-style combat method showed a powerful advantage against other Beastmen tribes that were not even on a rogue fighting level, relying on excellent discipline and coordination to defeat enemies many times larger.

Later, as the Dragon’s Nest Tribe grew in population, allowing limited configurations, Austin directly distinguished between the formal corps and production militia through physical fitness.

The formal corps was responsible for warfare, often trained more, and also undertook hunting tasks.

The production militia mainly managed production, although they had a certain amount of military training every day, most were engaged in opening up land and farming basic production activities.

At that stage, the selection criteria between the formal corps and militia were physical fitness, with strong advances and weaker retreats. Although some inherently weak races gradually retired from the formal corps, within the formal corps, it was still a mixed racial army.

After the Minotaur Tribe, Rat Tribe, and Centaur Tribe were successively annexed, when expanding the formal corps and absorbing fresh blood, if the selection was only based on physical fitness, it would make the differences between individual races within the formal corps greater, hindering some dominant races’ combat strength.

With the capture of Centaurs, the emergence of Bow and Arrow weapons, the military reform was logical.

The military reform’s concept was simply to maximize the advantages between various Beastman races.

"Minotaurs are large, strong in strength, but clumsy in body and tactics, can hold a Wooden Shield in one hand and a spear in the other, serving as Gun Shield Soldiers, as the main force in frontal engagement."

Looking at each race in the field, Austin slowly thought.

"The Jackal Wolf People and Kobolds resemble each other, their ability to withstand frontal attacks is relatively weaker than Minotaurs, but they are agile and can cooperate well in small groups, suitable for playing group power in melee, thus can serve as pure Gun Corps, following the Minotaurs. When Minotaurs charge into enemy formations and engage hand-to-hand, they can join the melee as reinforcements, maximizing their advantage strength."

"Centaurs run fast, have stamina, can serve as a pursuit force after Minotaurs and Jackal Wolf People defeat enemy tribes, meanwhile they have Bows and Arrows, can perform long-range suppression before engagement."

"And Ratmen, although not good at frontal confrontation, have better night vision and high alertness, can select a few as Scouts."

After considering the various advantages and disadvantages, Austin decided on the route for military reform.

Firstly, one hundred of the strongest Minotaurs were selected, formed into a separate regiment, trained as the Gun Shield Corps, serving as the forefront vanguard in military warfare.

Next, two to three hundred Jackal Wolf People and Kobolds were selected, also formed into a separate regiment, trained as the Gun Corps, serving as follow-up support behind the Minotaurs, leveraging group output advantage after Minotaurs charge into enemy tribes.

Finally, the Cavalry Archery Corps of Centaurs was selected, forming a regiment of one hundred Centaurs as the Cavalry Archery Corps, responsible for early harassment and later pursuit.

Additionally, some elite Ratmen were selected as Scouts to facilitate tracking enemy traces.

Three major corps, totaling five hundred, accounting for over one-third of the Dragon’s Nest Tribe.

Of course, these three major corps were not entirely detached, even Austin couldn’t afford that, only compared to other militia corps, their training was slightly higher.

After gradually forming the three major corps, they began intense training, various tactics, coordinated operations began to come into play successively.

Under hardworking training, only waiting for an explosion one day.

...

The fourth update is complete, hands tired, brain more tired.
