Chapter 76: Chapter 35 Something’s Not Right (Requesting First Subscription and Monthly Tickets, Chapter 33 was Reviewed)
This idea, when Luo Fei first thought of it, even he was somewhat shocked. How could there be someone who specifically kills just for reproductive organs? But according to speculation, this possibility is the highest.
"No way, how could there be such a perverted person, killing and cutting off reproductive organs." Wang Lei felt a chill down his spine after hearing Luo Fei’s words.
"Perhaps the reproductive organs were carried away by stray cats or dogs?" Group three leader Wang Dong expressed his doubt.
"Alright, does anyone else have anything to add? No? Okay, then regarding the murderer’s motive, one possibility is a vendetta due to emotional entanglement, and the second possibility is killing specifically for reproductive organs." Zhao Donglai recorded.
In the ensuing time, Zhao Donglai asked several more questions one after another.
Then Zhao Donglai assigned tasks.
Group one is responsible for investigating the deceased’s activities yesterday, figuring out where the deceased went all day, who they were with, what they did. Did they return alone in the evening, or was someone with them?
Group two is responsible for investigating the deceased’s personal life and emotions, to see if the deceased had conflicts with others or had any issues in their emotional life.
Group three is responsible for investigating people nearby, to see if anyone saw the deceased last night or saw any strangers entering or leaving Jiuli River.
With tasks received, each group started working.
"Luo Fei, your nose is so sharp. Can you track down the places the deceased went based on the scent on the deceased?" Yang Su asked.
Luo Fei’s sharp nose was something he had heard of. Previously, in the Su Xiao case, Luo Fei smelled the smoke in the room and confirmed that Su Xiao was murdered, not a suicide.
"There should be no problem." Luo Fei confidently replied, as long as it’s within twenty-four hours and the target individual’s scent is still present, Luo Fei can track through the scent.
"Great, this makes our investigation much easier." Yang Su said with a smile.
"Luo Fei, your nose is so sharp? Are you sure you’re not a human-shaped police dog?" Xia Zheng said with a look of astonishment.
"What are you talking about?" Yang Su glared at Xia Zheng hearing that.
"Do you even know how to talk? You low emotional intelligence guy, with your brain and EQ, I wonder how you even got in. Be honest, did you get in through the backdoor?" Wang Lei asked disdainfully.
Luo Fei didn’t mind, he was too lazy to bother with such trivial matters.
Then Luo Fei tracked the scent left by the deceased and arrived at Jiuli River Street.
But upon reaching Jiuli River Street, Luo Fei found the deceased’s scent in many directions, which presumably means the deceased wandered around the street during the day, causing the entire street to be filled with their scent.
Luo Fei randomly locked onto one direction, then followed the scent to a mahjong parlor next to Jiuli River Street. Here, the deceased’s scent was the strongest, meaning the deceased spent the most time here, and the molecules from the deceased’s body dispersed here the most.
The mahjong parlor was small, only enough to hold two automatic mahjong tables, but it was crowded and noisy, mainly due to the many onlookers.
Luo Fei and four others entered the mahjong parlor. Since they weren’t in uniform, they didn’t draw any attention.
"We are from the Criminal Police Team, who is the owner here?" Yang Su approached the mahjong table, asking seriously.
As Yang Su’s words fell, the previously noisy scene suddenly quieted down.
"It’s me, it’s me." A lean-looking man among the crowd of onlookers hurried over to answer.
"Officer, is there something you need from me?" The lean man asked, his face carrying a respectful and ingratiating expression.
"Do you know Zheng Bin?" Yang Su asked.
"Yes, he often comes here to play mahjong. Last night he played here until ten o’clock! Who knew something would happen to him on his way back?" The mahjong parlor owner said with some emotion.
While Yang Su was questioning the mahjong parlor owner, others in the mahjong parlor began preparing to leave, given that many were of the mindset that avoiding trouble is better, especially with a matter like a death involved.
"Please, everyone, don’t leave yet. We’re just gathering some information and will be done soon." Luo Fei spoke, stopping the people who were about to leave.
"Yes, please cooperate with our work." Yang Su also glanced at the crowd, about to leave, and followed up with reassurance.
Then Yang Su continued to question the mahjong parlor owner while Luo Fei, Xia Zheng, Wang Lei, and Zhong Jun questioned others.
Twenty minutes later, Luo Fei and his team finally finished questioning and left the mahjong parlor.
According to the people in the mahjong parlor, Zheng Bin played mahjong until ten o’clock last night, leaving alone without anyone accompanying him. Originally, someone at another table asked Zheng Bin to wait for him, and they would go back together after he finished playing. But Zheng Bin did not wait and left.
"There’s something wrong here." Luo Fei said, suspecting.
"What’s wrong? What’s not right?" Yang Su looked at Luo Fei with confusion.
Luo Fei pondered for a moment and said, "Didn’t we take less than half an hour to follow from the crime scene to here? Even if it was a slow walk, it wouldn’t take an hour. Yet the forensic identified the time of death as around midnight last night, and Zheng Bin left the mahjong parlor at ten. How could it take two hours to get from here to the crime scene late at night?"
"So, I suspect Zheng Bin went somewhere in between before going home."
"Exactly, from here to the crime scene takes twenty minutes, yet Zheng Bin used two hours. Something’s definitely off." Yang Su’s eyes lit up suddenly.
"Luo Fei, can you continue tracking?" Yang Su then asked, looking at Luo Fei.
"I can, the path angled up ahead also has the deceased’s scent." Luo Fei answered.
Then Luo Fei led Yang Su and the others, tracking up the angled path.
After walking about less than four hundred meters, Luo Fei found the deceased’s scent entering a two-story house by the roadside.
The ground floor of the house was a shop. Inside the shop, a plain-looking but extremely attractive woman was sitting behind the counter playing on her phone. However, her expression was heavy, and she seemed absent-minded, clearly not focusing on her phone.
"The deceased’s scent went inside." Luo Fei pointed to the house in front of him and said to Yang Su beside him.
Yang Su frowned, then walked into the shop.
Because the woman was too lost in thought, she didn’t notice Luo Fei and the others entering.
"Pardon me, did Zheng Bin come here last night?" Yang Su asked the woman, while Luo Fei took a few steps into the shop, finding the deceased’s scent leading into the room inside the shop.
"What? Sorry, what did you say?" The woman snapped out of her daze and asked nervously.
"We are from the Criminal Police Team. Did Zheng Bin come here around ten o’clock last night?" Yang Su asked again.
The woman visibly flinched, then forced herself to sound calm, "No, Zheng Bin didn’t come here."
Beside her, Luo Fei looked at the woman and said seriously, "Ma’am, you probably know that Zheng Bin was murdered last night. We are investigating the killer. This is no joke. If you know something but don’t report it, and it’s found out, there will be legal consequences."
