Chapter 248: Chapter 248 The First Day of Living Together 3
Si Mingjing smiled quietly. "Siyuan, it’s not without reason that your brother dotes on you."
"Hmm?" Ye Siyuan’s heart skipped a beat.
As expected, Si Mingjing said, "You’re incorrigible."
Without naming names, Ye Siyuan laughed anyway, enthusiastically linking arms with Si Mingjing. "Mingjing, I’m really not trying to be a mouthpiece for my brother; I’m telling the truth. If I like someone, I want to sleep with him. If you don’t want to sleep with my brother, then he’s definitely not your type."
Si Mingjing refused to answer that question.
Ye Siyuan is too much, Si Mingjing thought. She’s trying to get into my head and, at the same time, trying to pry information out of me for her brother.
Si Mingjing asked, "Then, do you want to sleep with Si Lisao?"
"I dream about it."
After saying that, Ye Siyuan’s face turned bright red, and she became sullen. "It’s a pity I can’t. If I could, I’d sleep with him every day!"
Ye Siyuan saw people disembarking from the plane.
It wasn’t just her uncle but also her maternal grandparents, so she pulled Si Mingjing over to greet them.
"Asheng and Tangtang, those two fools... their marriage was actually arranged personally by my maternal grandfather and my paternal grandfather. It’s an absolute arrangement that no one can interfere with, not even my uncle. Too bad they don’t know."
"Why?" Si Mingjing asked casually.
Unexpectedly, she had stumbled upon a Ye Family secret. Ye Siyuan didn’t treat her like an outsider at all, revealing every secret to her.
This affair began with a marriage alliance.
Years ago, the Bai Family and the Ye Family arranged a marriage, intending for Bai Peiluan, the eldest daughter of the Bai family, to marry Ye Baixiu, the eldest son of the Ye Family.
However, Ye Baixiu was the man Bai Peiluan’s best friend loved. Unwilling to snatch her best friend’s beloved, Bai Peiluan fled the marriage.
The Bai Family, reluctant to lose the Ye Family as an in-law through this alliance, summoned Bai Lanwu, an unacknowledged illegitimate daughter, back home and forced her to impersonate Bai Peiluan and marry Ye Baixiu.
The real eldest daughter of the Bai Family, Bai Peiluan, paid it no mind. She subsequently changed her name to Bai Lanwu, met her true love, Song Chuanqi, and married him.
She was unaware, however, that Song Chuanqi, the man she had married, was actually Ye Baixiu, the Ye Family’s eldest son and her original runaway groom.
The Ye Family’s eldest son was a soldier. During a mission, he was critically injured and near death. When he awoke, he found he had become Song Chuanqi, the Crown Prince of S Country.
Unwilling to remain in S Country, he managed, after much difficulty, to return to the Ye Family, only to find them holding a wedding where the groom was "himself"!
This "self" was Song Chuanqi, the Crown Prince of S Country, with whom he had swapped souls!
His only consolation was that the bride at the wedding was not Bai Peiluan, the woman he had always loved, but an imposter.
He found the groom at the wedding, hoping to find a way to switch their souls back.
But the groom refused, retorting, "It’s not like I wanted to switch souls! I’m a victim too!"
Little did Ye Baixiu know, the soul switch was orchestrated by the groom himself.
The groom, the true Crown Prince of S Country, had fallen in love with a girl from A Country. She was an illegitimate daughter of the Bai Family, an identity the royal family of S Country would never accept for marriage.
Then, the Crown Prince of S Country learned that the girl had been recalled by her family to impersonate another and marry the eldest son of the Ye Family.
The Crown Prince of S Country became frantic. Deciding to see it through, he switched souls with the Ye Family’s eldest son, making himself the Ye Family’s Crown Prince!
Having abandoned his identity and everything to marry the woman he loved, how could the Crown Prince of S Country possibly agree to switch back?
The Crown Prince of S Country also told the real eldest son of the Ye Family, "The real eldest daughter of the Bai Family has run away from her wedding. She wasn’t willing to marry you, and you wouldn’t want to marry an imposter, would you?"
This was truly the lowest point in the life of the real eldest son of the Ye Family.
He had been severely injured on a mission and had his identity switched with the true Crown Prince of S Country. He could no longer return to his former military unit, nor could he resume his role as the Ye Family’s eldest son. Even his fiancée had fled; he had lost everything.
Utterly disheartened, the Ye Family’s eldest son fainted on the street from overwhelming distress but was saved by a kind-hearted girl.
When he opened his eyes, he discovered the kind-hearted girl was none other than his fiancée, the real eldest daughter of the Bai Family!
The Ye Family’s eldest son didn’t know why his beloved had run away from their wedding, but he resolved to pursue her again with a new identity and win her heart once more.
Heaven rewards the persistent, and the two genuinely fell in love and married.
However, he was unwilling to go to S Country to become the Crown Prince. His strong sense of national honor as a soldier prevented him from betraying his country, so he took his beloved and secluded themselves on an island.
"That’s the story of my paternal grandparents and my maternal grandparents," Ye Siyuan concluded with relish. "Mingjing, would you say this counts as boarding the wrong bridal sedan but marrying the right man?"
Si Mingjing smiled and nodded. "A twist of fate indeed."
"So, my paternal grandfather and maternal grandfather agreed to let bygones be bygones, but they insisted that two people from the younger generation must marry. They chose Tangtang and Asheng; their marriage was arranged just after they were born. Even if my uncle doesn’t approve of Asheng, his own father, my maternal grandfather, made the decision for them. Deep down, my maternal grandfather still considers himself part of the Ye Family. He hopes his descendants will continue to carry Ye Family blood."
Ye Siyuan pulled Si Mingjing to meet her maternal grandparents.
As they drew near, Ye Siyuan playfully threw herself into Bai Lanwu’s arms. "Grandma, I missed you to death!"
"You missed me, yet you never come to visit."
Song Chuanqi and Bai Lanwu had been living with their daughter and son-in-law on Xingguang Island. They had only gone to S Country during the New Year to celebrate with their son. Ye Siyuan, however, had been living in A Country with Mo Yinhe for the past few months.
Ye Siyuan giggled. "Well, I’m here now, and I’ve brought an important guest."
She introduced Si Mingjing, "This is Si Mingjing, the girl my brother likes."
Bai Lanwu examined Si Mingjing from head to toe, her eyes lighting up with a gentle smile. "Your grandmother has mentioned you on the phone many times. She says Mingjing is a good child and is very fond of you, so much so she was reluctant to let you come."
Si Mingjing stepped forward to greet them, "Mr. Song, Madam Bai, hello. My name is Si Mingjing."
The elderly Song Chuanqi nodded, his gaze kind.
Bai Lanwu took Si Mingjing’s hand gratefully. "My dear child, I heard you saved Xiaobai, saved Asheng, and even cured Yinhe. You are a great benefactor to our family."
Ye Siyuan then said, "Mingjing, this is my uncle."
Beside Song Chuanqi and Bai Lanwu stood a dignified and reserved middle-aged man with an imposing aura. He was Song Chenmo, the Monarch of S Country.
"Hello," Si Mingjing said.
Song Chenmo looked at Si Mingjing with approval. "You handled the scheme against Ye Shen very well. Yinhe has good taste."
Si Mingjing smiled modestly, her expression serene.
Song Chenmo then asked Ye Siyuan, "Where are Tangtang and Ye Shen?"
"Uncle, you scared them off. I expect you won’t be seeing them today," she replied.
Song Chenmo harrumphed. "Such little courage. Truly unfit for anything important!"
