Chapter 455: Rescuing the women
City C (10th Zone):
Wilderness,
Jeremy Night puts the handgun back in the case. Then he walks up to the criminal and punches him in the face.
Smack!
The blow was hard. The criminal’s left side of the face shook. He fainted on the ground right then.
Jeremy then turned towards the fainted woman. He took out a water bottle and spilled some water on her face.
The woman woke up. She was a middle-aged woman. She saw that someone else was standing before her. When her eyes turned to the side.
She saw the criminal collapsed on the ground. Her eyes flashed with fear.
"Who are you?" Jeremy asked her.
Hearing that, the woman collected her thoughts.
She said, "My name is Tina. We were abducted during our trip in the wilderness."
Jeremy asked, "Who is he? Why did he capture you?
"Is this for ransom?" he added.
Tina removed the ties before standing up. She then said, "It’s a big story. We should leave before his friends arrive."
Jeremy raised his eyebrows in doubt. This person had seen his face. He didn’t want to leave him here.
Tina was in panic. She didn’t know the young man. Yet he helped her. She then thought of something before saying, "There is an old log cabin not far away from here. We can take him there."
Hearing that, Jeremy liked the idea and he said, "Okay."
"I’ll go and bring my friends up here." After saying that, Tina left.
Jeremy crouched down and looked at the criminal. He still thought it was risky to remain unguarded near him. He decided to drag the criminal ’s body to the wooden log.
If he woke up in the middle and caused problems, he could still use the handgun to hurt him.
Tina went towards her friends. She then removed their ties. She woke up the other three friends. They woke up one after another.
They were scared right now. They looked at each other’s faces before putting their hearts at ease. The women then turned towards Tina.
"Tina, what happened?" one of them asked.
"Don’t worry. The guy is down. Someone rescued us." After saying that, Tina pointed her finger towards the young man.
The three women turned toward the young man. They were shocked. Because they found out that person’s age was young.
"Let’s go," Tina uttered.
Three of them then stood up. Tina and her friends rushed to the side of Jeremy Night. When they saw the criminal down on the ground unconscious. They sighed in relief.
"What are you going to do with him?" one of her friends asked.
"This person has rescued us. But the criminal has seen his face. So we are going to lock him inside the log cabin before making further decisions," Tina said.
The three friends were surprised but they didn’t know what to say. They wanted to go back home right now. But they couldn’t go back without Tina.
Jeremy saw the struggle in their eyes.
"Where is the log cabin?" Jeremy asked.
"I’ll take you there." After saying that, Tina started guiding him. The three women started following their friend.
Seeing that, Jeremy started dragging the body of the criminal. The body of the criminal hit stones and grasses along the way. Yet he did not wake.
Jeremy started to think that the problem was big. He was doing patrol work. But he didn’t expect to come across this crime.
After walking along the dry route, they soon reached the log cabin. It was located a couple of hundred meters away from the previous spot.
The old log cabin was hidden between two large acacia trees. They quickly went inside. Jeremy went in, dragging the body of the criminal inside the cabin.
Jeremy then dropped his body on the floor. The space inside was empty except for some wooden logs. Jeremy sat on the wooden log and turned towards the four women.
"Can you guys tell me?
"What’s going on here?"
Hearing that, Tina looked at the other three. They were not ready to speak. Because they were still in shock.
Tina said, "We were doing a mission in the wilderness. Out of nowhere, this person appeared and kidnapped us.
After kidnapping us, he brought us to this part of the desert forest. He was on a phone call with his friends. But we didn’t know what he discussed," Tina said.
Hearing that, Jeremy’s eyes flickered. He then checked the hoodie of the criminal and found a digital device in it.
Seeing that, he eased down his eyebrows. He tried to unlock it. But he couldn’t do it. It required a passcode.
Then he stood up and looked towards the four women.
"Alright, you guys can leave. I’ll take care of him. He won’t appear in front of you again," Jeremy said to them.
Hearing that, Tina and the three girls were shocked.
"We don’t know your name yet," Tina uttered.
"There is no need for that. We won’t cross paths again," Jeremy replied.
Hearing that, Tina and the three women were stunned. They didn’t expect the young man to be rude. He was not interested in the conversation at all.
Still, they were thankful for his rescue. Tina and the others decided to leave.
"We again thank you for your help." After saying that, Tina left the log cabin with her friends.
When they were gone from the place, Jeremy sighed inwardly. The last thing he wanted was to get involved in a mess.
Now he thought he was in a similar situation right now. The City Governors had sent them here to protect the place from the Corrupted Beasts.
But it appeared that locals needed protection from the criminals here. He looked at the digital device in his hand.
He was expecting a call from the criminal’s friends. He would then uncover the truth behind it. But he thought it must be a ransom case.
The lower cities turned out to be dens of criminals. You wouldn’t see crimes happening in broad daylight in City A.
Both City A in the 14th Zone and the 10th Zone were safe and secure. Jeremy then collected his thoughts and looked through the outside scene from the window.
