Chapter 243 Moon Shadow

"Have... capability?" Du Ruoxin's pupils widened.

So, he thought she wasn't good enough? Not strong enough? That's why he had always looked down on her?

Suddenly, she felt like a joke.

She had given her all to him, taken care of his daughter with all her heart, and yet he thought she wasn't qualified, not good enough for him?

Rong Jingyang, is that what you think?

The man's dark pupils sharpened. As if not seeing the hurt in her eyes, he said even more coldly, "Du Ruoxin, you don't actually think the young madam of the Rong family is just a pretty face, do you?"

"My mommy, my grandmother..." Weren't they all formidable heroines, not to be outdone by men?

"Good!" Before Rong Jingyang could finish, Du Ruoxin interrupted, "I will make myself worthy of you!"

"Rong Jingyang, the wife you married is not a vase, not a good-for-nothing!"

If he wanted a career-oriented wife, she could adapt.

She hadn't dared to step forward before, only because she feared her elder brother finding her. Now, she had no reservations.

Rong Jingyang raised an eyebrow. "Very good."

Early in the morning, after Du Ruoxin had breakfast with her daughter and sent her to kindergarten, she turned to get into her car and unexpectedly met an acquaintance.

"Rong Cheng?" Du Ruoxin said in surprise.

Rong Cheng smiled gently. "Madam, long time no see."

More than a year ago, when he learned that Rong Jingyang had been crippled by Du Ruoxin's elder brother and that Du Ruoxin had left the Rong family, his heart was filled with mixed emotions.

He was happy that she had finally escaped her suffering and no longer cried for the Master every day.

But he was also worried. She was an adopted daughter of the Rothschild family, dazzlingly brilliant, and her wealth could rival a nation. She was not a woman he could aspire to, nor one he could even think about.

For a long time, Rong Cheng was in a state of detachment, often absent-minded.

He had originally thought that Du Ruoxin and the Master were definitely divorced.

Until—

Alas!

For a man like Master Rong, who was terrifyingly meticulous and devious in his methods, how could she possibly leave?

"Long time no see," Du Ruoxin said, smiling at him. "Are you... living here?"

What a coincidence, meeting him just by dropping off her child.

Rong Cheng shook his head. "I waited here for you specifically."

"Waited for me?" Du Ruoxin asked, surprised.

"Yes," Rong Cheng nodded. "The Master asked me to find you to resolve the hotel matter. I figured you'd be sending Dou Dou first, so I waited here for you."

Du Ruoxin suddenly understood. "Oh, right."

The bet she made with Rong Jingyang last night was that she would become a strong woman.

"Let's go." Du Ruoxin took a couple of steps, then turned back. "Did you drive?"

Rong Cheng unlocked the BMW parked by the roadside. "Yes."

"Okay, then I'll ride with you." Du Ruoxin called Trevor, gave him a brief instruction, and then got into the passenger seat.

Rong Cheng walked around the front of the car and quickly got in.

"Tell me, what's the situation?" Du Ruoxin asked while fastening her seatbelt.

Rong Cheng, however, wasn't in a hurry to discuss business. He took a gift box from the back seat and handed it to her. "I brought this back from Australia. I hope you like it."

"Hmm?" She hadn't asked for anything.

"Open it and see," Rong Cheng said again.

Uh?

Du Ruoxin opened it somewhat awkwardly. It was a pot of red succulents that looked like flower buds.

"It's called Moon Shadow, symbolizing happiness and joy," Rong Cheng explained.

Du Ruoxin liked bright colors and plump things. "Thank you."

But... how to care for it?

Although she liked it, it was troublesome to raise. Coupled with her complete lack of interest in gardening, she often just looked at them and never bought them.

Rong Cheng seemed to read her mind and said, "It's very simple. Just spray it with water every few days."

"Or, if you don't have time, you can put it at home and let the nanny take care of it."

Du Ruoxin nodded. That was the only way.

"Okay," she said, putting away the gift. "Drive. Tell me, what's the situation with the hotel now?"

ps: I took the little one out to play a couple of days ago and was exhausted. Let me recover. I'll see if I can update normally tomorrow.
