Chapter 1 Descending the Mountain

"Young man, I see you have excellent potential. You will surely achieve great things in the future. Would you be willing to come with me up the mountain?"

At the age of eight, Lu Fan walked alone through the streets, his body covered in blood. An old man with shifty eyes asked him this question.

And so, he was tricked by the old man onto the mountain, where he stayed for over a decade.

During these ten years, although Lu Fan learned many unparalleled miraculous techniques, he held the old man in utter contempt.

It wasn't for any other reason than the old man being too stingy. Lu Fan had helped him complete countless missions over the years, earning wealth that could likely form a golden mountain.

Unfortunately, in all his years on the mountain, Lu Fan had eaten meat fewer than three times. The old man always claimed that cultivating required nurturing the mind and abstaining from desires, but Lu Fan knew very well that the old man secretly indulged in food.

As it happened, perhaps out of some rare kindness, the old man gave him a few banknotes today and prepared a travel bag for him. He said he had arranged a marriage for him and instructed him to take a marriage certificate to propose.

Lu Fan mused that he was no longer young and could finally leave the old man's clutches. He readily agreed. As soon as he reached the foot of the mountain, Lu Fan looked back at the summit, licked his finger, and rubbed his eyes: "To be honest, leaving does make me a little reluctant!"

Qingzhou City, though not large, was home to many businesses and boasted bustling streets.

Lu Fan looked around with great interest. Having stayed on the mountain for so long, he found everything in the outside world novel.

However, after walking only a short distance, he saw a crowd gathered ahead. Pushing his way through, he discovered a man lying on the ground, convulsing uncontrollably, as if afflicted by some strange illness.

"Everyone, please make way! I am Dr. Liu from the First Affiliated Hospital. This patient needs emergency care!"

A man wearing glasses stepped forward. He appeared refined. He began pressing on the man's chest and retrieved his medical kit. He seemed quite experienced in handling such emergencies.

Upon hearing that he was a doctor from the affiliated hospital, many people parted, and the tense atmosphere eased.

Lu Fan stood with his hands on his hips, watching for a long time, then shook his head: "With your method of treatment, he will likely die even faster!"

Liu Hao turned his head and looked at Lu Fan: "I am from Qingzhou Affiliated Hospital!"

That sentence alone was filled with pride and a hint of disdain for Lu Fan. After all, he was a chief physician, and Lu Fan, dressed in rags, had no right to lecture him. Su Dan Fiction Network.

Many onlookers also turned their gaze to Lu Fan, their eyes filled with contempt. After all, this person before them was from Qingzhou Affiliated Hospital.

Those who could enter Qingzhou Affiliated Hospital possessed high academic degrees in medicine. In contrast, Lu Fan looked like anything but a decent person.

"If I'm not mistaken, within a minute, he will vomit uncontrollably, and his convulsions will worsen," Lu Fan said, ordering a bowl of tofu pudding and leisurely sipping it.

He was originally on his way to the Yang family to propose and was planning to buy some gifts on the street. He hadn't expected to encounter this situation. The old man had told him that saving a life was better than building a seven-story pagoda. He suspected this doctor from the affiliated hospital might not be able to cure the man.

"The medication has been administered. He will recover soon!"

Liu Hao stood up, his expression calm. Seeing the man on the ground gradually improving, the crowd also praised him as a miracle doctor for stabilizing the patient so quickly.

Lu Fan remained unimpressed, ordered another bowl of tofu pudding, and nonchalantly crossed his legs: "Life in this city is truly wonderful!"

"Young man, would you like another bowl?" a woman asked with a smile. "I've been doing business on this street for over ten years, and my skills are top-notch!"

"Then I'll have another bowl! I want to enjoy myself fully," Lu Fan said appreciatively.

Facing the crowd's admiration, Liu Hao wore an arrogant expression. However, at that moment, the man who had been gradually improving suddenly convulsed again, vomited foreign matter, and even his pulse throbbed violently.

Liu Hao knelt down to feel the man's pulse and found it had stopped. His face suddenly turned ashen. The onlookers were terrified. The man had seemed to be recovering, but now he had suddenly deteriorated.

"I told you! Your method is wrong!" Lu Fan said, still crossing his legs. "With your treatment, someone will die sooner or later."

Liu Hao wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling a bit guilty. Although he was a chief physician, he had gotten his position through considerable backdoors. He had intended to show off, but now, with someone dead, he feared losing his job if this matter was investigated.

"Little brother, you are so accurate in your predictions. You must have a solution!" Liu Hao looked at Lu Fan. "Why don't you try?"

As a doctor from the affiliated hospital, if he caused a patient's death on the street, his job would surely be gone. Lu Fan, being a bit reckless, seemed like a good candidate to be a scapegoat.

"I won't treat him!" Lu Fan said slyly. "Unless there's something in it for me!"

"As long as you can cure the patient, I will grant you anything you desire!" Liu Hao promised.

"Ten thousand yuan! I'm about to propose, and I'm short on cash!" Lu Fan said with a smile.

"No problem, no problem. As long as you can cure him, even a hundred thousand is fine!" Liu Hao quickly agreed, not believing Lu Fan had any such ability.

The crowd looked at Lu Fan with some disdain. By all appearances, Lu Fan didn't look like a doctor at all, but rather like a charlatan.

"Miss, we've already finalized the arrangements with the pharmacy. Should we head there first?"

From within the crowd, an elder asked. Standing beside him was a woman wearing high heels and a professional suit. Her face was as flawless as porcelain, making her a top-tier beauty.

"No rush. I'd like to see if he can cure him!" Bai Xue said. "If he can truly bring the dead back to life, perhaps my grandfather's illness..."

"Miss, you are being foolish. What skill could this person possibly have!" Steward Wu shook his head. "If he had any real talent, he wouldn't be reduced to this state."

Their voices were low, but Lu Fan heard them clearly. However, saving the man was paramount, so Lu Fan didn't bother arguing with them.

After a careful examination, Lu Fan took out silver needles and inserted them into the man's body. Liu Hao was surprised that Lu Fan carried silver needles with him.

Lu Fan's needling was fluid and precise, his knowledge of acupoints astonishing, leaving Liu Hao dumbfounded.

As time passed, the man on the ground gradually stopped convulsing and then suddenly leaped to his feet, causing many onlookers to exclaim in awe, hailing Lu Fan as a divine doctor descended to earth.

"How about that? My medical skills are quite good, aren't they?" Lu Fan clapped his hands and looked at Liu Hao. "You promised me a hundred thousand, so you can't go back on your word."

Liu Hao stared blankly for a moment before quickly saying, "This person wasn't cured by you at all. It must be the effect of my medicine, which is only now taking hold!"

Even he blushed slightly as he said this. The onlookers showed even more contempt, thinking that a doctor from the affiliated hospital could be so shameless.

"Everyone, please be the judge. Who actually cured this person!"

Lu Fan shouted with all his might. "I think he's just trying to renege!"

"Of course, it was the young man who cured him. Everyone here has clear eyes and can see that!"

Many people spoke up, turning their gazes towards Liu Hao with dissatisfaction. "Are all doctors from the affiliated hospital like this?"
