The Infernal Affairs series has a total of three parts.
The first part tells the story of Chen Wing-yan, an undercover cop, and Lau Kin-ming, an undercover gangster, infiltrating the triads and the police academy respectively.
After graduating from the police academy, Lau Kin-ming successfully joined the police force and was promoted quickly with the help of information from the triads. He also provided a lot of intelligence to his boss, Hon Sam.
Chen Wing-yan, on the other hand, stayed by Hon Sam's side for years and gained his trust. However, because the case had not been solved, he could not leave for the time being. He could only maintain his triad identity openly while contacting Officer Wong in secret.
But Officer Wong died, causing his identity as a police mole to be temporarily hidden.
Of course, the first part was actually viewed as the second part.
Infernal Affairs 2 can be seen as the first part.
This is because Infernal Affairs 2 depicts the events that occurred at the beginning.
The film first depicts the assassination of Ni Ku, the boss of the Ni family in Hong Kong. On the same night, the other four major triad leaders, excluding Hon Sam, wanted to seize the boss's position.
However, Ni Wing-yau, the successor of the Ni family, single-handedly neutralized the four major leaders with just a few phone calls, without expending any manpower.
He successfully took over the position as the new dragon head that night.
The police took this incident very seriously and dispatched Chen Wing-yan as an undercover agent to infiltrate the Ni family.
Meanwhile, Hon Sam, in order to consolidate his power, successfully arranged for his subordinate Lau Kin-ming to infiltrate the police force as an undercover agent.
Infernal Affairs 3 tells the story of Lau Kin-ming being investigated by the police two years after Chen Wing-yan was murdered.
Due to this incident, Lau Kin-ming's marriage to his wife broke down, and he lived in fear and suspicion every day, as if in hell.
The police headquarters assigned a young officer, Yang Kam-wing, to investigate Lau Kin-ming.
Yang Kam-wing and Chen Wing-yan were classmates at the police academy, and he knew Chen Wing-yan's undercover identity.
He began a battle of wits and courage with Lau Kin-ming and eventually found irrefutable evidence that Lau Kin-ming was an undercover agent sent by the triads to the police force.
At this point, Lau Kin-ming wanted to destroy all evidence of his undercover identity and truly become a police officer. His paranoia led to a mental breakdown.
He was eventually arrested by Yang Kam-wing.
Of course, some people also say that the third part is all Lau Kin-ming's fantasy, because his heavy sins have caused him to fall into the infernal hell, where he punishes himself every day and cannot live a normal life.
This is roughly the storyline of the three parts of Infernal Affairs.
Next, it is time to play Infernal Affairs 2.
The film begins with a black screen, followed by a line of text.
"Ah zhe Yan Wu, bi zhe Ming Jian. Wei Wu Shi Jian."
"Wei Wu Kong Jian, Wei Wu Liang Shou Ye Bao Zhi Jie."
"Wu Shi Jian."
1991.
Officer Wong and Hon Sam are in the police station, telling stories about their past experiences, thus opening the prelude.
Then, with a gunshot, the young Lau Kin-ming fatally shoots Ni Ku, the Hong Kong triad boss.
His father dead, Ni Wing-yau and his younger brother come to find their brother, who is already a police officer, to inform him of their father's death and ask him to return with them.
Chen Wing-yan is unwilling to go with them.
At this moment, Officer Luke, who is passing by, stops his car and calls out to them.
The next shot is also the first appearance of Su Han.
"Lo Kei, what are you doing!"
Officer Luke gets out of the car and shouts at Ni Wing-yau's younger brother.
"My father just passed away."
A gloomy and magnetic voice comes from behind.
Officer Luke turns to look, and the screen directly cuts to someone wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, a red striped tie, and brown suit pants.
His hair is slicked back, and he wears gold-rimmed glasses.
His hands are in his pockets, exuding a lazy and somewhat scummy aura, yet appearing refined and cultured. Both "lazy and somewhat scummy" and "refined and cultured" can be used to describe him.
"Wow, it's Su Han!!!"
Someone in the audience exclaimed upon seeing Su Han.
Everyone is intently watching Su Han on the screen.
The image on the screen is truly very different from Su Han's real appearance.
The moment Ni Wing-yau appears, his aura is overwhelming and powerful.
It's an imposing aura.
"He had instructed that if he were to pass away, all his children should be notified."
"Sorry to have bothered you."
After saying these two sentences, he turns to get back into his car and leaves.
These simple two sentences stunned the netizens.
These two lines of dialogue carried the weight of more than a dozen lines.
Su Han has already established the tone for this character.
Next, the four major heads under the Ni family gather at a hot pot restaurant to plan a rebellion against the Ni family.
The police are also worried about this.
Ni Wing-yau makes three phone calls and easily deals with the four big bosses.
Ni Wing-yau稳坐大佬位置.
"Hiss, amazing."
"Su Han's acting is indeed excellent."
"Although he hasn't appeared much yet, these few shots have depicted the character very clearly."
"Yes, yes, most importantly, his demeanor makes him look like a big boss."
Next is a classic scene.
Ni Wing-yau, Lo Kei, and a group of subordinates are eating at a food stall.
The police arrive at this time.
The police place a briefcase on the table, and Ni Wing-yau doesn't even look up.
Officer Wong: "Mr. Ni, you're eating so late?"
"My father has been eating supper here after work for many years."
"I have some business to attend to tonight, so I've come to patronize as usual."
"How about it? Are you interested? Shall we join you?"
Officer Wong smiles: "It seems you'll be taking this seat from now on. You've worked hard."
"It's not hard. You came here with such a big show tonight, but you gained nothing, so aren't you working even harder?"
Officer Luke smiles: "Ah Hiao, you performed very well tonight."
"I hope you will always be like this."
"We don't want to see anything happen in the future."
"Let's go."
After speaking, Officer Luke glances at Officer Wong, signaling to leave.
Ni Wing-yau is displeased, frowns, and looks up provocatively: "You don't want what?"
Officer Wong, known for his temper, directly retorts: "We want to open champagne to celebrate!"
"Ni Ku is dead, we want to open champagne to celebrate!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Ni Wing-yau slams the table and stands up, his subordinates following suit by banging the table and standing up. Everyone is ready to fight.
Especially Ni Wing-yau, who is very displeased by this statement. He tries his best to suppress his inner anger.
"Wow, this! Su Han, truly superb!"
"My god, I can feel his anger, it's so terrifying."
When he heard Officer Wong's words, he was extremely angry, and a surge of rage rose from his chest.
He almost lost control, but then he calmed down again, staring intently at Officer Wong, as if he wanted to kill him.
"Do you want me to open another bottle for you?"
"Heh heh."
Officer Luke walks up: "What? You want to lay hands on the police?"
At this moment, the atmosphere drops to freezing point.
"Da da da!"
Just then, Hon Sam rushes over.
"Hey, hey, officers."
"The Ni family has already lost one person today."
"What else do you want?"
Hon Sam walks to Ni Wing-yau's side, easing the freezing atmosphere at the scene.
Ni Wing-yau turns around, a look of sadness in his eyes.
Today is the day his father died, and he doesn't want to cause any more trouble.
The two police officers leave.
After the two police officers leave, Hon Sam hands Ni Wing-yau two packs of cigarettes.
Ni Wing-yau sits down and sniffs. Although he doesn't cry, his sorrow can be felt implicitly.
"My father used to run small gambling dens, starting from a few cents and growing to this scale."
"Everyone in Tsim Sha Tsui knew him."
As he speaks, he takes out a cigarette and puts it in his mouth.
"Clink~"
With a crisp flick of the lighter, he ignites the cigarette.
He takes a puff and exhales.
"He often said that what goes around comes around, but I never expected that today..."
While saying these words, Su Han keeps his gaze lowered and doesn't look up.
A cigarette is inserted into the bowl of rice on the table.
"My father often said what goes around comes around."
"Unexpectedly, today..."
"I will forever remember today."
Su Han's eyes remain fixed, he raises a glass of wine, clinks it against the bowl of white rice with the inserted cigarette.
Then he stands up.
The surrounding subordinates also stand up, holding their glasses.
He draws an arc with his glass of wine on the ground, spills half of it, then raises both hands with the glass and drains it in one gulp!
His subordinates also drink theirs in one gulp. Throughout the entire process, no one speaks. After drinking, they raise their glasses high.
Ni Wing-yau bows his head.
After watching this scene, the audience in the theater is touched to tears.
Film critics, reporters, and invited ordinary viewers all take a deep breath and simultaneously exclaim, "Su Han's acting is truly remarkable."
"God, he portrays the ruthless side of a triad boss, but also a tender spot within his heart."
"It's truly quite shocking."
