Chapter 66: Vicky’s True Character

Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Vicky’s True Character

"Four thousand dollars a night."

Alex spoke in a light, careless tone, as if scattering coins from his pocket.

He leaned back indifferently, showcasing the epitome of a spoiled second-generation heir of a rich family.

"Four thousand dollars?"

Vicky’s brow furrowed at that.

His initial reaction was shock. If he were a man of honor, he would have punched Alex in the face there and then, perhaps even pulled him out by the collar. But he wasn’t that sort of a man.

For him, money is something that, he would be always ready to sell his soul for it.

But there was this offer, which offended him somewhat.

Did he really want her to sleep with him at only 4000 dollars...too cheap.

Sophie was worth at the very least $50,000. He had already put that price on her in his heart.

"No way," snapped Vicky.

His face contorted in rage as he jabbed a finger at Alex. "Who do you think I am? If you don’t get out of here right now, I swear I’ll kill you!"

"$50,000."

Alex didn’t blink at all. His voice was the same, smooth and slow, as if this was just another one of his deals.

It took Vicky a lot of effort to hold himself back at that.

Fifty thousand. The precise figure he had thought of. He almost acquiesced there and then.

His lips shook as if the word "yes" would spill out at any moment.

But Sophie was standing next to him, glaringly.

So he gritted his teeth to remain standing, his voice labored but still resolute: "No. Don’t think you can bribe me so easily. I’m not that kind of man."

Alex’s mouth twisted in the most subtle of grins. Not missing a beat, he increased the stakes once more.

"$500,000."

"500,000?!"

Vicky’s eyes opened wide, his heart skipped a beat.

He mind came to an abrupt halt, unable to utter one word.

"Vicky! Why don’t you say anything?"

"Speak up!"

"Vicky!!"

At his side, Sophie shouted her throat dry, her voice cutting with fury.

"Are you still a man? You can just sit there in silence because of only 500,000?

You were so full of yourself just now, so full of life justice, but the instant real money is involved, suddenly you’re speechless?!?"

"Well..."

Vicky flushed with embarrassment. On the inside, he was wracked with turmoil. He truly wished to answer yes.

After all that fucking Five! Hundred! Thousand!

This was no small amount.

Even If he attempted to cheat ten or eight individuals like Sophie, he may not even get that much.

But here it was, being presented in a take-it-or-leave-it manner, for agreeing.

Five hundred thousand dollars would provide him with the luxury of living at ease for at least 30 to 50 years without having to do anything.

Damn it!

If only Sophie was not present, if this silly woman was not standing right next to him, it would have been so simple to just say ’yes’.

But with her glaring at him, it was difficult to just say ’yes’ in such a straightforward manner.

She was fierce and blunt.

If he consented too hastily, she would most likely blow him over the top in a rage and would immediately turn against him.

Should I consent or not?

If he didn’t consent, the 500,000 would just disappear into thin air.

And how frequently do you encounter a wealthy spoiled second-generation brat in a Bentley?

The conflict ripped him in two. His conscience shouted "yes", but his pride yelled "no".

Long, torturous moments passed before Vicky finally shook his head.

"No! I won’t do it! Sophie is my most beloved. I will never betray her for money."

His heart ache after saying that, but the words once spoken should not be taken back easily.

Sophie blinked, then nodded at him, her expression softening lightly.

Though she caught the hesitation in him, she still appreciated his refusal.

At least he had rejected the outrageous request of this arrogant rich second-generation.

But Alex was not the man to be underestimated, he sneered his lips curling into a smirk.

"1! Million! Dollars!."

Alex didn’t even flinch at Vicky’s earlier refusal. He casually named a price that could crush anyone’s resolve.

Vicky’s eyes widened enough like his eyes might pop out at anytime.

His breathing quickened as if he had just sprinted a marathon.

One million dollars!

For God’s sake that is 1 Fucking Million dollars!

Just in one day, and he could earn what ordinary people couldn’t save in a lifetime.

The fifty thousand Sophie had saved was nothing in comparison to this, this was twenty times more.

His greedy mind twisted quickly.

Why not let Sophie spend a night with this rich guy?

I will soothe her later, trick her for her fifty thousand too. That’s double profit.

Vicky fell silent, lost in calculation.

Sophie, who was still believing him, smiled weakly and said, "Vicky, explain it to him! Love is invaluable, right?. Regardless of how much money, you won’t agree, right?"

But Vicky did not say a word.

Sophie’s eyes trembled. "......"

Why was he hesitating? Shouldn’t he stand up, deny this stranger, and guard her?

Finally, Vicky forced a smile.

"Well... Sophie, you know my circumstances. I’m in debt to dangerous individuals.

A million dollars would cover all of my troubles. Couldn’t you... please assist me this once?"

"What rubbish are you talking?!"

Sophie voice trembled with fury. Her palm didn’t wait for her words to finish and slapped his face so hard with a resounding sound.

"Is this how you pretend to be a man? You used to tell me again and again that I was your only true love. Is this the true love you are talking about?

For a mere million dollars, you would betray me?

I’m sickened by you!"

Her slap rang out in the street.

At that very moment, as if on cue Alex opened the trunk of his Bentley.

From there he pull a suitcase, which he opened it to show him, inside were banknotes in neat piles filling a suitcase to the brim.

"One million. Real and ready. If she agrees, it’s all yours."

His smile was weak, but temptation cut like a dagger at Vicky.

The sight of this much money broke the last of Vicky act. He turned to Sophie, red-eyed with a quivering voice, "Sophie... do you really love me?"

She bowed her head seeming to think he might have realised his mistake her voice became gentle, "Of course I love you Vicky.

Otherwise I wouldn’t have remained by your side, even forsaking Satyansh for you..."

Tears streamed down Vicky’s face. He acted out grief but his words stung like poison:

"Then demonstrate it. Please... assist me to gain that one million."

"You—!"

Sophie paled her entire body shaking due to anger. She gazed at him incredulously as if she could not believe the sheer audacity of his words.

"I never thought you’d be this type of person Vicky. For money, you’d throw me into another man’s arms? You’re a monster!"

Her chest rose and fell with heaving breaths, rage and sorrow clashing in tandem.

Vicky sighed on, still arguing shamelessly.

"It’s just one night. Nothing final.

And look at him tall, handsome, rich. You’re lucky he even wants you.

Do you know how many women would kill for that opportunity?"

Sophie slapped him once again, "Do you even hear yourself?!"

Vicky isn’t embarrassed at all instead he pleaded pitifully.

"Sophie, please. Just this once. With this one million, I can settle my debts. I can finally give us a brighter future."

Her heart began to feel like on ice.

She used to believe that she and the boy standing before her were going to grow old together. But now, she knew how foolish she was in believing Vicky, as he saw him literally selling her.
