At the end of the Moon God Crown deathmatch mission, there were only System announcements stating the mission was complete; no overall clearance evaluation was provided.
The set reward for this mission was 300 Experience Points and 1,000 Game Coins for each enemy player killed, plus a random item looted from them.
Li Ang successively eliminated three enemy players—Zhi Jue, Resentful Demon, and Gulu Lugu—obtaining 900 Experience Points and 3,000 Game Coins.
Before undertaking the Moon God Crown mission, he was Lv12 with 413/1,200 Experience Points. After killing three players, he reached Lv13 with 113/1,300 Experience Points.
His Game Currency was originally 5,406 Game Coins. After gaining 3,000 from the kills, he immediately spent 7,000 on stripping the Divinity embryo, leaving him with only 1,406 Game Coins.
Fortunately, the Special Affairs Bureau paid 5,000 Game Coins for information, so Li Ang now had 6,406 Game Coins.
Li Ang had already allocated the one free attribute point from leveling up to his Perception Attribute.
As for the looted items: Zhi Jue provided a learnable Magic Scroll, "Necromancy Technique (Junior)"; the Resentful Demon provided a consumable Magic Scroll, "Electric Afterimage," with only one use remaining. The item from Gulu Lugu also lay quietly in Li Ang's inventory.
[Name: Osiris Bronze Sickle Sword]
[Type: Weapon]
[Quality: Ordinary]
[Attack Power: Low]
[Special Effect: Soul Reaping. Once activated, the Bronze Sickle Sword will deal minor additional damage to Spiritual Bodies for 24 hours. After using this Special Effect, the Bronze Sickle Sword will self-destruct.]
[Cost: None]
[Cooldown: None]
[Equipment Condition: Perform a devout Ritual Track for Osiris, the Ancient Egyptian Nether King, the day before using the Special Effect.]
[Remark: Praise be to you, Osiris, eldest son of Geb, the earth god, and Nut, the sky goddess! Ruler of the Underworld! God of plants, agriculture, and abundance!]
This weapon was a short sword, approximately 60 cm long. Its hilt was made of brown hardwood, slightly curved at the pommel. The blade, made entirely of bronze, was straight where it met the hilt. About 20 cm from the hilt, the blade curved sharply forward, forming a sickle-like edge. The very tip of the blade curved slightly backward, creating a narrow groove.
It resembled both an axe and a sickle.
Li Ang took the weapon out and swung it a few times. It felt quite substantial, and its sharp blade seemed effective for chopping.
This type of sickle sword was almost representative of ancient Egyptian weaponry, traceable back to 2000 BCE. The Sumerian 'Stele of the Vultures' from around 2500 BCE depicts King Eannatum of Lagash wielding a sickle sword as he conquered his foes.
Two such sickle swords were also unearthed from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Its history was incredibly rich, a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian civilization.
"But this thing looks better than it performs."
Li Ang held the bronze sword hilt with a wry smile. The sword was indeed as the item description suggested: made of bronze and quite brittle. Holding the blade between two fingers and applying slight pressure, he felt it couldn't bear much force and was on the verge of snapping.
As Li Ang's level increased, his attributes had correspondingly risen. The enemies he faced were growing stronger, and ordinary weapons could no longer adapt to such high-intensity battles.
A fragile, easily broken bronze sword was out of the question.
Actually, this sword would be quite practical for lower-level players. Its passive Special Effect activates to deal extra damage to Spiritual Bodies. In the early stages of the game, when players don't have many options, it would serve as a handy weapon against spirits and phantoms. The most crucial aspect is its lack of cost; as long as one performs the devout Ritual Track for the Ancient Egyptian Nether King the day before, it can be used directly. Novice players could feasibly take the time to conduct this ritual daily.
Li Ang deftly twirled the bronze sword, muttering to himself, But in the end, it's just Ordinary quality. It'll self-destruct after one use. Besides, I don't think I need its Special Effect of 'lasting 24 hours and dealing minor additional damage to Spiritual Bodies.' My Ripple Breathing Method already inflicts massive damage on Spiritual Bodies and deals double damage to other dark creatures. It doesn't seem very useful to me...
Li Ang placed the bronze sword on the table with a touch of regret. If I sold this to lower-level players, I could probably get a good price. Unfortunately, I can't risk trading face-to-face with anyone, especially after just pulling off that major stunt. Mail delivery is out of the question too. Forget it. Later, I'll see if I can combine it with other unneeded materials in the Forging Furnace.
The Forging Furnace was particularly beneficial for a Lone Wolf Player. For such players, the most troublesome aspect was often the scattered nature of their extraordinary materials, making it difficult to consolidate them into effective combat power. They were at a disadvantage compared to large organizations where members could share resources and whose think tanks could plan future development paths for their players.
The Forging Furnace significantly compensated for this drawback, allowing Li Ang to quickly utilize extraordinary materials that otherwise had no clear use. Plus, the psychological satisfaction of turning 'waste' into treasure was undeniable.
Hmm...
Thinking about this, Li Ang mused, Actually, the Forging Furnace's design is quite fair. Before each synthesis, it indicates the materials' compatibility, reducing the chance of failure. If the System were greedier, it might add an equipment enhancement function, hide compatibility ratings, increase usage fees, secretly boost failure rates, and not return materials upon failure. That would be truly devastating. I could even set up the Forging Furnace at the entrance of the Special Affairs Bureau's reception hall, lie back, and collect daily rental fees while enjoying the anguished cries of players whose enhancement syntheses failed. But that's just a thought. My Alchemist's Magic Box is currently only of Excellent quality. To repair its damaged state, I need to find relevant Alchemy skills and save up over 10,000 Game Coins as soon as possible. Only then might I be able to repair the Magic Box, upgrade it to Perfect Level, and unlock more functions in the Alchemy Workshop.
Li Ang placed the Osiris Bronze Sickle Sword, looted from Gulu Lugu, on the table and began to examine the other spoils from his latest mission.
The Skill Scroll 'Electric Afterimage,' taken from the Resentful Demon, was indeed powerful. It combined invisibility and control, truly befitting its Perfect Level quality. However, like the 'Mocking Taunt' scroll, it only had one trial use remaining.
As for the other item, the 'Necromancy Technique (Junior)' scroll, despite only being Rare Level, Li Ang believed its potential utility was no less than that of 'Electric Afterimage.' In terms of development potential and opportunities for clever tactics, it might even be superior.
