The castle was bathed in the deep, mysterious silence of the late night.
Jiang Nuan watched as the servants retired for the night. She slowly got up, changed into a pair of sneakers, and tiptoed downstairs.
The night was exceptionally quiet, with occasional strange bird calls echoing from the mountains behind.
"Coo, coo, coo..."
Jiang Nuan glanced at the dark mountain nearby, which resembled a black cloth. Its outline was vaguely visible, but the bird calls were quite unnerving. Ever since her soul had left her body, she had retained a sense of awe towards such matters, especially in sparsely populated areas, where she always felt a chill down her spine.
She reached the metal door, its electronic lock occasionally emitting a faint red light. She hadn't bothered to study it when she returned. After zoning out, she wandered around the villa. On the third floor, she found a pencil in a cabinet. She sharpened it and ground the lead into a powder, intending to extract fingerprints. Numbers that were frequently pressed would retain fingerprints, allowing her to discover the password quickly. If this method failed, after three attempts, the super password would automatically lock the system, making it impossible to open again.
Climbing the wall was out of the question; there was no glass to climb over. She could never scale the glass roof. Jiang Nuan turned on her flashlight and began extracting fingerprints at the fastest speed possible. She had done this before, so she was quite proficient.
"87231#," Jiang Nuan tried the first combination.
"Beep..." It opened.
Jiang Nuan exclaimed, "Damn!"
This method was too effective. Jiang Nuan smiled slightly. She pulled the door open and went inside, leaving it ajar as she would need to come out again later. Such super password locks were troublesome. Leaving the door open would make her exit quicker.
In the garden not far away, two large men were crouched. They were Mu Jiuchen and Han Yixuan. Mu Jiuchen also saw Jiang Nuan. Han Yixuan grumbled, "Let's go. There are mosquitoes everywhere. My face definitely won't be presentable tomorrow morning."
Why were there so many mosquitoes here? Mu Jiuchen's gaze was more anxious than anyone's when he saw his wife. Nuan Nuan was really here! But after lying there for so long, even moving one of his feet was difficult. Han Yixuan felt the same. He sat up, looking around in confusion, "Mu Jiuchen, don't you find it strange? There's no signal here, nor any communication equipment."
"More importantly, I didn't know they bought such a grand mansion here. A castle villa of this caliber must be worth billions. When did Xiao Fan's family get so rich?"
Mu Jiuchen slowly got up, looking grimly at the glass house in the distance. "Han Yifan's family is very wealthy. They probably have more villas like this elsewhere."
Han Yixuan: "..."
"But they don't give me that much in dividends annually?" Han Yixuan was unhappy. He felt a pang of envy! Mu Jiuchen glanced at him coolly, though in the dark night, nothing could be seen, and Han Yifan certainly couldn't see his chilling gaze. "You only receive dividends, so of course, it's not much."
Han Yixuan: "..." Those words were truly cutting.
The two hurried over. Mu Jiuchen went to pull the door, saying smugly with a smile, "My wife left the door open for us." Han Yixuan looked at him, feeling speechless at his pride. He noticed it was a super password lock.
"Holy hell, Mu Jiuchen, you've truly found a treasure. Nuan Nuan can even unlock this kind of super password." Han Yixuan felt envious again. As expected of Nuan Nuan. Mu Jiuchen was delighted by his sour tone. He carefully pulled the door open and entered. Han Yixuan followed and also blocked the door, making it easier to escape later.
In the basement, Jiang Nuan stared in shock at the cylindrical glass tanks filled with various animal specimens preserved in medicinal fluid. There were also internal organs of different animals. Further inside, it was even more terrifying; there were human specimens. The entire laboratory was filled with a strong, pungent odor that was extremely uncomfortable. Jiang Nuan moved quietly, but she could sense no one was present. The surroundings exuded a chilling aura. Jiang Nuan swallowed and quickened her pace.
To the side was an analysis room, filled with many computers. Jiang Nuan walked over, pushed the door, but found it wouldn't open. Jiang Nuan studied it for a while before managing to open it. This might be where the item he was looking for was. Jiang Nuan turned on a computer and saw it had network access. She had a bad feeling about this, but it also confirmed something: someone had been monitoring her all along. So, were these things deliberately shown to her by Han Yifan? Now, she could only search as quickly as possible to find some evidence.
She had a faint realization: Han Yifan brought her here not to imprison her, but to make her understand something. Jiang Nuan searched everywhere and discovered a safe in a cabinet below. With her excellent eyesight, she still had some powder left. She used the same method to extract fingerprints to find the password.
On the other side, Mu Jiuchen and Han Yixuan entered and saw the specimens in the large glass tanks. Han Yixuan was startled. He had never witnessed such a scene before. He tightly clutched Mu Jiuchen's arm, "Holy hell, Mu Jiuchen, this is my first time in a laboratory, why is it so terrifying? My legs feel so weak, support me a little."
Mu Jiuchen: "..." He felt like he was going to throw up. Could he hold it for him? He cautiously looked around. This underground laboratory was vast, with rows upon rows of live specimens that were disgusting and frightening to behold. Mu Jiuchen exclaimed, "Isn't this kind of laboratory illegal?"
Han Yixuan jolted, struggling to pull himself out of his fear. He then remembered what his profession was. "Right, Mu Jiuchen, what do you think they're doing with such a laboratory?" Han Yixuan was bewildered. Han Yifan's father, as he recalled, was also an outstanding professor. He hadn't expected him to have a laboratory here. Mu Jiuchen also had a vague inkling of something, but he couldn't quite grasp it.
"Who are you people? How did you get in?" an angry roar came from behind them.
Mu Jiuchen and Han Yixuan: "..." Han Yixuan asked, "How were we discovered?" Mu Jiuchen angrily replied, "Luring the tiger into the mountains."
Han Yixuan: "It's over, are we going to be preserved in these glass tanks like these specimens?" Mu Jiuchen trembled with rage, "That's you, not me." Han Yixuan slowly turned around and looked at the person behind them, who was wearing a white protective suit and a large black eye mask. They were covered so thoroughly that not a trace of skin was visible.
Han Yixuan asked, "This is my aunt's house, who are you?" Han Yixuan, why him? How did he find this place? "Get out, who let you in here?" the man roared. Han Yixuan found the voice somewhat familiar. He chuckled and said, "Hey! We were just out for a stroll and ended up here. We thought this was an abandoned laboratory. You carry on with your work, I'll leave after looking around?"
The other person suddenly laughed and said, "Since you've come in here, you won't be able to leave?"
