The first light of dawn

Chapter 628 Already Learned to Love You

Jiang Nuan's eyes were cold as she looked at the dozen bodyguards. "I don't want to fight you. I'll say it again, get out of my way!"

The captain of the bodyguards looked distressed. They usually protected Miss Jiang from the shadows. Fighting her meant certain death. "Miss Jiang, please give Master Jiu ten minutes. If Master Jiu hasn't returned after ten minutes, we won't stop you."

This was just a delaying tactic. He dared not make decisions for Master Jiu, only hoping he would return quickly.

Jiang Nuan walked forward, moving swiftly, and kicked the bodyguard captain in the stomach. "Mmm," he grunted, stumbling back a step. Unable to retaliate, he could only endure the blows. Seeing the captain not fight back, the others dared not help, retreating further.

As they were pushed back to the doorway, Jiang Nuan lost all patience. Her beautiful eyes were blazing with anger. "One last time, get out of my way."

As Jiang Nuan finished speaking, she heard Mu Jiuchen's voice. "Nuannuan."

Upon hearing Mu Jiuchen's voice, everyone breathed a sigh of relief and quickly retreated. Only Mu Jiuchen and Jiang Nuan remained in the hall.

Mu Jiuchen looked at the furious Jiang Nuan, feeling a bit dejected. "Nuannuan, what's gotten into you? If you were leaving, you could have at least said goodbye."

Jiang Nuan sneered, her laughter turning into tears. "What? You're running back to chase me after being intimate with your Jiang Yuxin? Mu Jiuchen, have some decency! I already let you pass, what more do you want?"

Tears streamed down Jiang Nuan's face as she spoke. Mu Jiuchen was even more bewildered. "Nuannuan, what are you talking about? I was taking Grandpa for a walk. I thought lunch would be ready, and after Grandpa and I returned, you were gone. What does Jiang Yuxin have to do with this?"

"Yes, it has nothing to do with her. It's all your fault. If you like her, you shouldn't have come to provoke me. Mu Jiuchen, do you think I'm easy to bully?" Jiang Nuan cried harder, the words "you are just a substitute for Jiang Yuxin" piercing her heart.

"Get away from me!"

"I didn't. Nuannuan, how could I bear to bully you? Explain this to me. What exactly happened?" She wanted to leave so inexplicably, and even if it meant going to the guillotine, she needed a reason.

"Heh heh..." Jiang Nuan's tears flowed more fiercely. Looking at him with tear-filled eyes, she trembled with pain. "You know very well, and you still want me to explain? Mu Jiuchen, are you watching me suffer even more?" Jiang Nuan said, then kicked him.

Mu Jiuchen, fearing she would injure herself, quickly dodged. He knew he wasn't her match, but with the natural advantage of male physique, he quickly grabbed her hand, pulled her forward, and pressed her against the wall, pinning her hands.

"Let go of me," Jiang Nuan struggled violently. "Mu Jiuchen, don't touch me with the hands that have touched other women." Jiang Nuan felt disgusted.

Mu Jiuchen was enraged. He gripped her shoulders firmly, turned her around, and pressed her against the wall, holding her hands tightly. "Look at me!" Mu Jiuchen roared, his dark eyes fixed on her.

Jiang Nuan lowered her head, refusing to look at him. "Look at me!" Mu Jiuchen spoke to Jiang Nuan with such a sharp tone for the first time.

Startled by his roar, Jiang Nuan suddenly looked at him. "Jiang Nuan, in your heart, am I so untrustworthy? Would I be holding that woman, Jiang Yuxin?"

"What you saw, even if it means I die today, you have to explain it clearly."

"After you went into the kitchen, I took Grandpa for a walk. I never saw Jiang Yuxin. What do those words you're saying mean?" Mu Jiuchen's eyes were flushed red, his scarlet eyes curving with anger.

Looking at her red and swollen eyes, what had she seen? Seeing her so distressed, he felt a piercing pain. His heart was shattered by her tears.

Jiang Nuan paused, staring at him blankly for a moment before saying, "Mu Jiuchen, let me go. I never intended to pester you. Just tell me yourself that you don't love me, and I'll disappear from your world immediately, never to appear before you again."

"But you treat me as a substitute for Jiang Yuxin, and I'm damned unwilling." She thought about it; if she had to leave, she had to sever all ties.

"No, besides you, I want no one else. You are you, and no one can replace you," Mu Jiuchen said, gritting his teeth. "Tell me, what did you see? What did you hear? I know nothing, and you've pushed me to the brink."

Mu Jiuchen felt he was going crazy. What unknown events had happened in between? Jiang Nuan pounded his chest hard, looking at him hatefully, and said angrily, "You asked me to send tea to you, meaning you care about Jiang Yuxin, right? You were being intimate in the room to humiliate me? If you don't love me, you don't have to pester me, Mu Jiuchen. You don't have to treat me like this."

Jiang Nuan struggled after speaking. Mu Jiuchen suddenly let go of her, looking at her with deep eyes. "Jiang Nuan, do you believe what you saw?" His deep voice carried a hint of sorrow, disappointment, and heartache.

Jiang Nuan lowered her eyes, tears falling. Her heart truly ached. "Mu Jiuchen, I've learned to love you. Why are you treating me like this?" She sat on the ground powerlessly. Love made one so humble. The proud her had never learned to lower her head. Before Mu Jiuchen, she yielded. Having experienced little love since childhood, she tried her best to respond to Mu Jiuchen's affection. After waking up, not wanting him to see her bald head, she had been afraid to see him, caring about him every moment, which was why she hadn't dared to tell him she was awake.

Mu Jiuchen looked at Jiang Nuan sitting on the ground in shock. What had he just heard? He heard her say, "I've learned to love you. Why are you treating me like this?" She had said she loved him before, but he knew she hadn't truly understood love yet. He was willing to wait, knowing he would eventually win her over. Had he finally waited for it? He fell in love with her that night they met in the alley, the moment she fainted before him. He had never believed in fate, but that night, he did. Every word she spoke, every smile, captivated him. He often found himself uncontrollably thinking of her, wanting to give her his best, and to obey whatever she said or did. He also wanted to find ways to give her the best love, letting her feel his love at all times. Now, he had finally heard that she had learned to love him. But she wanted to leave. He slowly crouched down, picked up Jiang Nuan, and walked upstairs. In the end, he couldn't bear to let her leave. If she left, he would go mad. He would truly go mad. He had finally waited for her to fall in love with him, how could he bear to let her go? He placed Jiang Nuan on the bed. Jiang Nuan slowly opened her eyes and looked at him. Having calmed down, she also wanted to get to the bottom of things. "Mu Jiuchen, turn on the surveillance from Grandpa's house."
