The first light of dawn

Chapter 549 The precursor to an episode

"Nuan Nuan." Mu Jiu Chen roared her name in agony, his hands trembling as he held her. How he wished the pain could befall him instead, allowing her to only enjoy blissful moments.

He lowered his gaze, looking at his frail beloved in his arms with heartache.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead before slowly placing her on the soft, large bed.

He got up to get dressed and called Yun Sen, arranging for the best doctor to come.

When Yun Sen arrived at the room with the doctor, he felt a terrifying aura permeating the space. He instinctively flinched and led the doctor further inside.

Mu Jiu Chen stood by the window, his tall figure exuding a formidable presence.

He looked at the middle-aged doctor and said, "My wife was in great pain earlier." His voice was deep, and his flawlessly handsome face displayed no emotion other than coldness.

The doctor nodded slightly, approached, and examined her. He looked at Mu Jiu Chen with confusion, "Ninth Master, the Madam is fine. She merely fainted, her breathing is even, and she will be alright once she wakes up."

Upon hearing this, Mu Jiu Chen's expression remained largely unchanged, as if he had expected it.

"See the doctor out, then wait for me on the first floor," Mu Jiu Chen commanded in a deep voice.

"Yes, Master!" Yun Sen escorted the doctor downstairs.

Mu Jiu Chen sat by the bedside, tucking the quilt around her. Gazing at Jiang Nuan's pale face, his heart ached as if it were being torn apart.

"Nuan Nuan, rest assured, I will make Han Yifan pay for all this pain."

A captivatingly cold smile touched his lips, turning into a tangible sharpness that seemed capable of piercing flesh.

After quietly watching Jiang Nuan for a while, he slowly rose and went downstairs.

Yun Sen was already waiting on the first floor. Seeing Mu Jiu Chen's somber and chilling expression, he swallowed and said softly, "Master, Chen Feng is already on his way from the airport."

Mu Jiu Chen sat on the sofa and then asked, "Have you investigated Han Yifan thoroughly?"

Yun Sen nodded slightly and handed him a tablet, saying, "President, Han Yifan's assets and companies in Qi Country are all here."

Yun Sen had a premonition that the arrogant Han Yifan was about to face trouble.

Although he didn't know the cause of their conflict, he knew the Master was furious.

Mu Jiu Chen briefly reviewed the documents, his voice low, "Cut him off at the waist from here. I want to make Han Yifan wish he were dead."

Yun Sen looked at the spot Mu Jiu Chen was pointing at, [Hong Xin Securities].

Han Corporation's medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors had been thriving in recent years, establishing a firm foothold in Qi Country's high society, with their stock prices consistently high.

Mu Jiu Chen, however, operated in both legitimate and illegitimate circles. Han Yifan was still young, while Mu Jiu Chen was seasoned and cunning. This move would instantly cripple Han Corporation's lifeline.

"Go. By tomorrow, I want to see results," he said, his voice carrying an air of pressure. Yun Sen nodded and left to gather his men for the operation.

He wouldn't want to step foot here if there was nothing to be done.

Meanwhile, at Han Yifan's residence!

He sat at his desk on the second floor, his gaze gloomily fixed on the beautiful scenery outside the window. The scenery reflected in his eyes, but he had no mind to appreciate it.

At this very moment, Jiang Nuan was in immense pain, as if tormented by a thousand ants eating her heart and her skin being sliced by a knife.

An ordinary person could not endure such agony, a pain so unbearable that it made life seem worse than death.

However, Jiang Nuan's phone was still unreachable, and furthermore, the tracking system had been disrupted.

Han Yifan narrowed his handsome eyes. If Jiang Nuan survived, all his previous experiments would be in vain.

"Jiang Huai," Han Yifan called out towards the doorway, his voice loud.

Jiang Huai, standing at the door, immediately entered.

"Young Master." Jiang Huai looked at the irate Han Yifan.

Frowning slightly, he lowered his head and walked over.

Han Yifan looked at him and asked, "Still no news of Jiang Nuan?"

Jiang Huai replied, "No, Young Master. After our people lost her, they've been searching continuously, but haven't found her."

Han Yifan looked at him, his gaze sharp, his expression as gloomy as heavy, unmoving storm clouds. Jiang Huai watched Han Yifan, observing his significant emotional fluctuations in the past few days. It seemed the Young Master was on the verge of an episode.

Han Yifan suddenly stood up, kicked over the chair behind him, and roared, "Conduct a thorough search! Within three days, I want to see her. Send people to guard the Li family. The moment she appears, no matter what methods you use, bring her to me."

Han Yifan spoke word by word, his tone filled with impatience.

Jiang Nuan, I'm giving you three days at most.

If you don't show up after three days, all my previous decade of research will be wasted.

"Understood, Young Master." Jiang Huai quickly left. Upon reaching the first floor, he quickly took out his phone and called Han Yifan's father, Han Zhenyang.

"Chairman, the Young Master's emotions have been extremely volatile these past few days, a precursor to an episode."

Han Zhenyang asked, "What's going on? His condition had stabilized. How could he have an episode? What has happened recently?"

Jiang Huai recounted the recent events to Han Zhenyang, who listened with great surprise.

"Keep an eye on the Young Master. I'll be back in about three days. Try your best to find Jiang Nuan and stabilize the Young Master's condition."

"Understood, Chairman." After hanging up, Jiang Huai drove away from the Han family villa.

......

Jiang Nuan woke up in the afternoon.

Looking at the orange sunlight outside, she frowned slightly and slowly tried to move. Her hands lacked strength, and she couldn't lift them.

Mu Jiu Chen, sitting beside her, saw Jiang Nuan stir and a hint of surprise flashed in his dark eyes.

"Nuan Nuan, are you awake?" Mu Jiu Chen's voice was hoarse, his gaze fixed on Jiang Nuan, lest she forget him upon waking.

"Mhm!" Jiang Nuan responded slowly, finding that her memory hadn't faded. Unlike before, when fragments of memories would surface in her mind after waking, only to disappear completely.

Jiang Nuan was amazed by this newfound consistency.

"Mu Jiu Chen," her voice was hoarse, her eyes still half-closed from sleep. "I'm so hungry."

Hearing her call his name, Mu Jiu Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

"Okay, Nuan Nuan, I'll go downstairs and bring up some food. You lie down for a while longer." Mu Jiu Chen said, then excitedly went downstairs.

Jiang Nuan watched his retreating back and smiled faintly. She wondered what she had been thinking before. With Mu Jiu Chen by her side, the experience was not difficult at all, but rather filled with happiness.

Before meeting Mu Jiu Chen, she had yearned for him, feeling tormented. The sense of helplessness after fainting and waking up had almost suffocated her. But after Mu Jiu Chen arrived, a heavy stone that had been pressing on her heart seemed to have been quietly moved away, leaving her feeling light and happy.

She slowly got up to wash. Entering the bathroom, she saw many hats on a small table, in different colors, as well as many wigs of varying lengths. A warmth spread through her heart.

Wigs were not breathable, and Mu Jiu Chen had already seen her bald. Hiding it would be pretentious.

She chose a white hat and put it on. Looking at her pale, bare face in the mirror, she sighed slightly, wondering what exactly Han Yifan had done to her.
