Prefect Zhou led Ye Tian and Ming Chen to a locked guest room. Upon opening the door, a foul odor wafted out. Prefect Zhou covered his nose and fanned the air with his other hand.
Ye Tian stepped inside. He saw a young woman, her hair disheveled, her clothes in tatters, smeared with excrement and urine. She was huddled in a corner. Shackles bound her feet, and handcuffs secured her wrists to the floor and wall. A collar was even locked around her neck, severely limiting her movement.
Ye Tian walked closer. The woman suddenly looked up, her clear eyes flashing with ferocity as she glared at him.
He stopped, observing for a moment, then took a few more steps forward.
The woman emitted a low growl, like a wild beast.
Ye Tian stopped again. After a brief observation, he walked directly in front of her. The woman lunged forward, a wave of stench hitting him.
Ye Tian remained calm, meeting her gaze. Under his stare, the ferocity in her eyes gradually subsided. She tilted her head slightly, examining the man before her.
Then, he reached out and gently patted her head. The woman winced slightly, showing a subtle urge to pull away, but Ye Tian eventually touched her forehead.
Next, he took her wrist. Her wrist was white and slender. The woman tried to retract her hand, but he pulled it back to check her pulse.
A minute later, he released her hand and said, "Let's talk somewhere else."
He walked out. Prefect Zhou locked the door again and, unable to wait, asked, "Master Ye, can my wife's illness be cured?"
Ye Tian walked some distance away before replying with a serious expression, "Mr. Zhou, your wife is possessed by a terrifying demon, and it is currently in its early stages. In some time, she will be able to kill people with her mental intent. Your household will be in chaos, and few will survive."
Prefect Zhou trembled violently, horrified. This was dire! He quickly pleaded, "Master Ye, please help me resolve this! I'll pay any amount if you succeed!"
Ye Tian stated, "To eliminate the evil spirit, your wife must be killed. However, heaven cherishes life. I've decided to take your wife with me and find a place to confine her, to slowly wear down the demon within her. But this decision rests with you."
Prefect Zhou dared not speak of killing. He replied, "Then take her. Thank you for your trouble, Master Ye!"
Afterward, Ming Chen discussed the price with Prefect Zhou. In the end, Prefect Zhou agreed to pay a million as a consultation fee.
Meanwhile, Ye Tian reopened the door. This time, he walked directly to the woman and, with a few swift movements, snapped the chains, removing all restraints. He said calmly, "Come with me."
Strangely, the woman was obedient this time, quietly following Ye Tian out of the room.
He led her to the bathroom, telling her to clean herself and asking Prefect Zhou to bring her previous clothes.
Forty minutes later, the woman, clean and dressed, her hair tied in a simple ponytail, stood silently behind Ye Tian.
Ye Tian said, "Mr. Zhou, I'm taking her. I'll need you to explain this to your wife's family. If they wish to see their daughter, you can contact Ming Chen."
Prefect Zhou replied, "Yes, yes. Thank you, Master!"
As they left the Zhou residence, Liu Siyuan, looking astonished, asked, "Master, why did she become so docile?"
Ye Tian replied, "Because we are kindred spirits. She trusts me."
"Kindred spirits?" Liu Siyuan blinked. "What do you mean?"
Ye Tian explained, "She is not possessed by a ghost, but has awakened her past life memories."
Some individuals are born with memories of their previous lives, a phenomenon called the awakening of past life memories. This woman's case was an awakening of such memories. Furthermore, she had been a cultivator in her past life.
Liu Siyuan murmured, "Do people really enter reincarnation after death?"
Ye Tian responded, "I cannot say for certain if reincarnation exists, but rebirth is a reality."
Ming Chen asked, "Master, how should we arrange for this woman? Should she stay at the temple?"
Ye Tian replied, "That depends on her."
