Chapter 168 All the Better

“Jielina, why so early?” Guo Xuyang asked.

“Master, good morning!” Jielina said, standing up.

“Why isn’t she awake yet?”

“Perhaps the dosage of the medicine was a bit high.”

“Anesthetic?”

“Yes, Master.”

“It won’t affect her, will it?”

“No, Master.”

“In front of others, you should call me Yangzi from now on, so people don’t get the wrong idea about you.”

“Understood, Master.”

“Have you eaten? Let’s go downstairs and grab something.”

“Understood, Master.”

Guo Xuyang took Jielina to the restaurant and found Lü Liang, Pi Xiaoqian, and Wu Youzhi already there.

They looked at Jielina in surprise.

“This is Jielina, a friend I just met last night.” Guo Xuyang introduced them.

“This is Lü Liang, you can call him Brother Liang. This is Wu Youzhi, President Wu. This is Pi Xiaoqian, President Pi.” He then introduced them to Jielina one by one.

Jielina looked at everyone, nodded, and remained silent.

“Brother, where did you meet your friend? She’s got a great vibe,” Pi Xiaoqian asked cheekily, walking over.

“At the hotel. Where else?” Guo Xuyang replied.

Pi Xiaoqian, full of admiration, gave him a thumbs-up. He hadn’t expected Guo Xuyang to have snagged such a stunning woman overnight, someone as beautiful as Elina.

Guo Xuyang ignored him and ordered a few small dishes, two bowls of congee, and some pastries, and began eating with Jielina.

Lü Liang kept staring at Jielina, feeling as if he had seen her somewhere before. As he observed the tall Western woman, a sense of familiarity washed over him. Elina. This woman looked incredibly similar to Elina. While Western women generally shared some resemblances, this woman was too much like Elina, as if they were cast from the same mold. The same mold? Could this woman be Elina’s sister? That sounded absurd. Elina was from the Americas, and although she managed their business in South Africa, he realized he knew very little about her. She had always been so good to him, taking care of everything, like his most capable subordinate. But her background, her family, he knew so little. Jielina appeared to be Caucasian, but most Western women looked similar. Tall, with high noses and large eyes, though Jielina’s eyes were not like Elina’s. So why did this woman feel so familiar? He watched Jielina eating, still wearing her trench coat, and couldn't help but glance at her again. The bulge at the small of Jielina’s back caught Lü Liang’s attention. Was that a gun? He swallowed, blinking hard. Yes, it was a gun. As someone from special forces, he was confident he wouldn't mistake it. This woman was carrying a firearm. He wondered how Guo Xuyang knew her. Suddenly, he remembered. He had seen this woman before in Korea. The only female assassin in an international assassin organization, codenamed “Scorpion.” He had encountered her once while handling a special assignment in Korea. At that time, a high-ranking official in Korea was assassinated, escalating tensions and forcing their team to withdraw, their mission aborted. Jielina had been disguised as a student, carrying a backpack, looking young and radiant. He had been captivated by her beauty. Later, reports emerged that the assassination of the Korean official was carried out by the international assassin Scorpion. He had seen Jielina’s photo and obtained information on other members of the assassin organization, but there was no data on the organization’s leader. That person was a mystery. He hadn't expected to meet Jielina here today, let alone that Guo Xuyang would know her. He wasn't sure how Guo Xuyang knew Jielina, but it was highly probable that Guo Xuyang didn't know Jielina was an assassin. He needed to tell Guo Xuyang about this quickly, before he lost his head without knowing why. While he was lost in thought, Guo Xuyang and Jielina finished their meal. “Brother Liang, shall we go out again later? See if there are any more good jade materials?” “Why hasn’t Li Minxi come down yet?” “Is she too tired? Overslept?” Just then, Li Minxi’s call came in. “Handsome Guo, where are you?” “In the restaurant downstairs. Are you awake now? Hurry down when you wake up, we were just talking about going out for a bit.” “Wait for me, I’ll be right down.” Li Minxi stretched, got out of bed, and prepared to descend. She suddenly noticed two footprints by her pillow. They were a woman’s footprints, and they had pointed toes. She rubbed her eyes, thinking her vision was blurry. Looking again, they were still woman’s footprints. Impossible! How could there be a woman’s footprints in her room? She tapped her head, wondering if she had sleepwalked. She couldn’t remember anything, truly nothing. It didn't matter if she couldn't remember, as long as she was fine. She got ready quickly, not having the bad habits of some women who spent half the day on makeup. When she arrived at the restaurant downstairs, she saw a beautiful Western woman beside Guo Xuyang, who looked somewhat like Elina. Had he already picked up another woman after only half a day here? Li Minxi cursed him silently as a scumbag. She didn’t understand why she had fallen for such a man. “Let’s go? Where to?” she asked. “Why don’t you eat something first? We can go after you’re done. No rush,” Guo Xuyang said. Li Minxi walked up to him and took two pastries from the plate in front of him. “No need, these two pastries are enough. Who is this? You haven’t introduced her.” “This is Jielina, a friend I met at the hotel last night. This is Li Minxi, Chairman of Sandao Liang Film and Television Group.” “Hello, Jielina. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Li Minxi said, extending her hand. “Hello, Chairman Li. It’s my honor to meet you,” Jielina replied, standing up and shaking Li Minxi’s hand. “You are very beautiful.” “Thank you for the compliment. How did you meet Yangzi?” Li Minxi asked, wanting to assert her claim. “I met Yangzi last night. He came into my room by mistake,” Jielina said, her words seemingly designed to provoke. What did she mean, he came into her room by mistake? Wu Youzhi’s face showed a look of understanding. Pi Xiaoqian was a bit confused. What was happening? Was a catfight about to begin? Lü Liang chuckled inwardly. This Jielina wasn’t a simple person either. “What? He entered your room by mistake. How could that happen?” “You can ask him,” Jielina said with a smile. “Scumbag,” Li Minxi said fiercely. Of course, she wasn't foolish enough to ask Guo Xuyang what had happened. At midnight, a man running into a woman’s room – anyone could figure out what would happen. Guo Xuyang offered no explanation and stood up, saying, “Let’s go. We should go out again. The public auction starts tomorrow, so we need to gather more funds.” Guo Xuyang was now solely focused on making money, the more the better.
