He felt none of these changes.
He was still fast asleep, not waking until past eleven the next morning.
Xiao Yun had come in five or six times. Seeing him still sleeping soundly, she complained to Lü Liang, "Where did this guy go last night to cause trouble? He can sleep so much."
Lü Liang chuckled, "He hasn't gone out since he got back last night. You should bother him less in the future."
Xiao Yun's face turned red at his words. She cursed, "You're going to die! Your body is already this weak at such a young age, you'll be like rotten firewood when you're old."
"I feel sorry for my brother. A wife with a temper is not to be desired."
Xiao Yun grabbed a pillow from the bed and threw it at him. By accident, it hit Guo Xuyang's head, jolting him awake.
He opened his eyes, saw Xiao Yun standing nearby, and asked, "What are you hitting me for?"
"Who hit you? Aren't you getting up? What time is it? Everyone's waiting for you," Xiao Yun said huffily.
"We still want to see the Golden City, but I was afraid you wouldn't find it. Hurry up and get up, let's go out for a walk."
"You go out first, I'll get up now."
"It's not like I haven't seen you before, why be shy?" she said, her face blushing. She saw Lü Liang watching her with a half-smile.
"Neither of you is a good person," she said, and quickly ran out.
By the time Guo Xuyang was tidied up and walked out of the room, it was time for lunch.
The four of them went to the restaurant, ordered some local specialty dishes, and had a portion of spaghetti each.
After a satisfying meal, they packed their things, checked out of the room, and headed for the Golden City.
The Golden City was located on the southern side of Johannesburg, a theme park built on the site of gold mining ruins.
It recreated the architecture of the gold rush period from the late eighteenth to the early nineteenth century, with banks, post offices, police stations, restaurants, bars, and so on.
The four of them rode on an old steam train that chugged along slowly, admiring the ancient buildings, as if they had traveled back to the distant past.
They joined a tour group and followed them underground in the Golden City to witness the actual gold mining operations of that era.
Guo Xuyang was particularly interested in this. He carefully observed the facilities in the mine, including the red mining tracks, mule carts, water pumps, and diamond drills.
He wondered if he should have Lü Liang assemble a gold prospecting team to extract the gold deposits he had discovered.
However, that location was too close to where Chi Ke was prospecting, making it inconvenient to explore at the moment.
The group then went to the surface to observe the gold brick making process.
They watched as workers melted the gold sand, added additives, removed impurities, and poured it into molds, resulting in gold bricks.
Guo Xuyang was surprised at how complex the process was and realized that the gold nuggets he had collected likely contained many impurities.
After visiting the Golden City, they went to a national park for a tour, and by then, it was completely dark.
The place they stayed last night was rather remote. Today, they were in the city center, where commerce was flourishing, skyscrapers lined the streets, and entertainment venues were ablaze with lights.
A significant portion of the people here were black, with others being white and yellow-skinned. Guo Xuyang could only tell by their skin color; he didn't know if they were from Africa, Asia, Europe, or the Americas.
Although it was late, many shops were still open, and most of them sold gold products.
It was indeed a city famous for its gold.
The four of them entered a crowded shop. Inside, gold bracelets were strung together with rope, forming very attractive rows.
"Show me this one," Xiao Yun said, pointing to a bracelet.
Although they couldn't communicate verbally, they had Yiliena, who could help translate.
The two women, having shared a room for a night, had completely reconciled their differences.
They were now as close as sisters, arm in arm, selecting gold bracelets.
Guo Xuyang wasn't interested in these gold ornaments. He browsed the shop but found nothing appealing, so he went to the adjacent store.
The next store sold handicrafts, and some of the crafts were quite unique.
A piece of tapestry caught his eye, or rather, the pattern on the tapestry did.
The pattern depicted a giant standing between heaven and earth, his eyes gone, roaring with a clenched fist.
Surrounding him were countless demonic creatures, tearing at something that looked like an eyeball.
The eyeball was woven with incredible realism, bearing a striking resemblance to the demon eye in his mind.
He didn't know the inspiration for this pattern and wanted to buy the tapestry.
"How much is this?" he asked.
Unfortunately, the vendor didn't understand Mandarin. Guo Xuyang picked up the tapestry with his hand and gestured the action of counting money.
The vendor held up two fingers. He shook his head, indicating he didn't understand.
The vendor then wrote "20000" on a piece of paper. Unsure if it was twenty thousand of what, as he was accustomed to using national currency, he shook his head again.
He then left.
He intended to find Lü Liang to help negotiate the price. Although he was now wealthy, he didn't want to be swindled like a fool.
When he returned to the gold jewelry shop, he couldn't find Xiao Yun and the others, and had no idea where they had gone.
He took out his phone and called Lü Liang. The ringtone sounded, but no one answered.
He then dialed Xiao Yun's number. The call was answered, but as soon as it connected, it was hung up before he could speak.
There's trouble, was his first thought.
He focused his gaze, unleashed his senses, and called Xiao Yun's phone again.
Unfortunately, the phone was now switched off. He followed the signal and located Xiao Yun and the others.
The three women were being taken away in a car by four or five black men, and Xiao Yun's phone had been discarded near a sewer.
He didn't know who had abducted them or why.
As he was pondering how to pursue them, he saw a black man driving a car approaching and about to get out.
He swiftly pulled the black man out of the car and then started the engine to chase after them.
He drove while simultaneously sensing Xiao Yun and the others.
As he passed the sewer, he picked up Xiao Yun's phone.
It seemed unlikely to get a replacement SIM card in this place.
The car in front wasn't driving fast, not expecting anyone to follow them.
Guo Xuyang caught up with them in a short time, but he didn't dare get too close for fear of alerting them.
He simply followed at a distance.
The car in front passed seven or eight intersections, made several turns, and finally stopped in a villa area.
Yes, it was a villa, a cluster of villas, much like Hughes's wine estate.
He watched as four black men escorted Lü Liang and the other two to the front of a house, while another black man went to park the car behind the villa.
Guo Xuyang pulled his car over to the side and turned off the engine.
He used his stealth ability to conceal himself and quickly ran over.
