The trip, as a whole, passed without issue. Little did Kaiser and Noelle know though, it was during this trip where a certain white-haired, nap-loving girl was conceived. To everyone’s surprise, nine months later, Noelle gave birth to a baby girl she named Nyssa.
And as Nyssa grew older, Noelle’s hard shell cracked before disappearing in the wind.
“My babbyyyyyy, come let mama hug you,” Noelle ran down the hall, chasing Nyssa down. After enveloping the six-year-old in a hug, she picked Nyssa up, bouncing her in her arms. “Don’t pout, mama wants to play with you, come on, what do you wanna do?”
Nyssa, just harrumphed, her eyes wandering to the nearby couch. “I want to nap...”
“But you’ve already slept so much, come on, play with mama for a bit, mama doesn’t want to work,” Noelle cooed, only to feel her arms lighten as a cat leapt out of her embrace and scampered away. Undeterred, Noelle transformed into a bird, flying behind the cat through the hallways.
As the two animals passed by the living room, Roxanne couldn’t help but turn to Slade. “... So the youngest child really does get preferential treatment huh. Why couldn’t we get that?”
“‘No powers in the house’ what a hypocrite,” Slade rolled his eyes while laughing. “Their powers are less destructive though, and Nyssa is cute enough to deserve the treatment.”
“I bet I was just as cute though!” Roxanne huffed, patting her own chest.
“... I bet you weren’t, HAHAHA,” Slade cackled, only to have a pillow thrown into his face.
“Everything’s wonderful,” Noelle walked into the living room, beaming. In her arms she held a certain captured Nyssa. Plopping down onto the couch, she hugged Nyssa close as she faced the rest of the family. Two fluffy white cat ears twitched on top of Nyssa’s head, betraying her comfort in Noelle’s embrace as she pouted.
“... Yeah, I wasn’t matching that when I was younger,” Roxanne broke the silence after a couple of seconds. She patted her lap. “Nyssa, come sit on your older sister’s lap, come on. It has to be more comfortable than mom’s.”
“No, I just wanna nap...” Nyssa pouted, balling her small fist as she tried to escape from Noelle’s embrace.
“You can just nap here,” Noelle offered, immediately ignoring the rest of the family. “Here, let me warm my arms up a little.”
A few minutes later, after Noelle transformed her body and arms to be warmer, Nyssa had passed out, dead asleep in her arms. Contrary to her earlier protests, she snuggled up against her mother, clutching onto her shirt as she ventured through dreamland.
“... You know mom, you always have a lot of work to do,” Roxanne coughed into her fist. “If you want, I can hold Nyssa and you can go do your wor-”
“Don’t worry, I don’t have any work at all,” Noelle laughed. “I’ve been delegating everything. Who needs to work? It’s good to have a work-life balance. I want to be available for Nyssa after all.”
Kaiser, rolling his eyes, just called out “Suuure...” from the kitchen, only to get a beaming smile in response from his wife.
Following his comment though, everyone settled back into their own work. Kaiser continued cooking, Roxanne and Slade continued their homework, and Noelle, before long, also fell asleep, still holding Nyssa in her arms.
And so... another afternoon passed peacefully in the Ravenstein-Bellarose household.
