Chapter 23 A Culinary Interlude

Yan Le had been busy tracking the hacker since reporting the progress on Monday. However, it was already Friday, and he still hadn't found any useful clues.

Since President Chu couldn't wait any longer, Yan Le had to brace himself and report.

"We've checked all the personnel lists, but we haven't found any further clues related to the hacker 'Mitu'," Yan Le said, his head lowered, already contemplating how to write his resignation letter.

Chu Rong's expression turned serious. "Have you found who deleted the surveillance videos?"

Yan Le felt even more bitter and said nervously, "No, I suspect the person who deleted the videos might be the same one as the hacker. Both are targeting you, boss."

Receiving no response, Yan Le secretly glanced up and saw a faint smile on his boss's lips. Yan Le's heart tightened in fear, and the draft of his resignation letter was complete.

"Mmm," Chu Rong continued to focus on his work. "Check slowly, no rush."

Yan Le's eyes widened as if he had heard some explosive news. After a moment of stunned silence, he quickly made his exit.

Chu Rong leaned back in his chair, a smile reaching his eyes.

Yihe Hospital. The assistant pushed open the dean's office door. "Dean, all appointments for this afternoon have been postponed."

Guan Shi smiled. "Thank you for your hard work. I'll be leaving now. Call me if there's anything urgent." Without waiting for the assistant's reaction, he bypassed the assistant and hurried out. kuAiδugg

The assistant looked puzzled. As he walked out of the dean's office, he was surrounded by a group of gossiping nurses.

"Assistant Zhang, Dean is dressed so handsomely. Is he going on a blind date?"

The assistant suddenly realized. "I remember now. A few days ago, Dean said he had an appointment on Friday and asked me to postpone all appointments for Friday. It's probably not a blind date, but a date."

A group of nurses sighed. "Whoever is worthy of Dean must be extraordinary. Alas... the dream is over."

"What blind date, what date? Who is Guan Shi going on a date with?"

Suddenly, a sharp question rang out from behind them. Without turning around, they knew who it was.

Nurse Xiao Liu couldn't help but get angry. She turned back and smiled, "It's none of your business who our Dean is dating. Who are you?"

Jiang Mengmei had come to see Guan Shi under the pretense of consulting for Jiang Mengran, but she happened to overhear this. Enraged, she strode forward and slapped Xiao Liu without a word.

"You slut, Brother Guan Shi is mine. We grew up together. You vixens better stay away from him, or I'll make you regret it."

Xiao Liu was also stubborn. She retaliated with a fierce slap. She had considerable strength, and Jiang Mengmei stumbled and fell to the ground.

"Hmph, a toad wanting to eat swan meat. You call yourselves childhood sweethearts? I think you're delusional."

"You slut, how dare you hit me." Jiang Mengmei got up and lunged at Xiao Liu, but there were many nurses in the hospital. They restrained her and called security, so Jiang Mengmei was quickly thrown out by security again.

Jiang Mengmei was so angry she felt like she was going crazy. She couldn't remember how many times she had been slapped or how much she had been wronged recently.

And all of this started because of that detestable mistress, that vixen. That dead woman, you wait. If I, Jiang Mengmei, don't settle this score with you, I swear I won't rest.

Yun Ge Garden Restaurant, the most famous Western restaurant in City A, is renowned for its panoramic view from the fiftieth floor of the Sky Tower. However, today, during what should have been peak hours, there was only one guest in the vast restaurant.

"How romantic. He's handsome and rich, and he's booked the entire place. I wonder who is so lucky," Liao Wei, a waitress in the hall, fawned.

Ren Tao, trying to mask her jealousy, taunted, "Handsome guys are always paired with ugly girls because ugly girls are clingy, while handsome guys are usually reserved."

"Some people can't get the grapes and call them sour. Anyone who can match Young Master Guan must be at least a daughter of a wealthy family," He Miao, who always disliked Ren Tao, sneered.

Ren Tao was furious. "Even if she's rich, she's still an ugly monster. Just because she has a good background, what's so great about that? In terms of looks, how many people who come to Yun Ge are more beautiful than me?"

"You're as beautiful as a celestial being. If you're so capable, go poach him," He Miao provoked.

Ren Tao was already itching to do so, and with He Miao's goading, she found an opportunity and said arrogantly, "I'll go. Just you wait, I will definitely get the handsome guy's WeChat."

With her beauty, getting the handsome guy's WeChat would be as easy as pie.

She picked up the water pitcher and walked over, swaying her hips.

"Mr. Guan, let me pour you some water," she said sweetly.

Guan Shi was instructing Quan Jiu to be careful on his way and didn't look up, simply saying thank you out of habit.

Ren Tao cursed him as an ugly monster in her heart, then smiled and called out again, "Mr. Guan."

"Hmm?" Guan Shi looked up at her. "What is it?"

Ren Tao struck her most charming pose and smiled. "I lost a bet with my friends, and they insisted I add your WeChat. If I don't, I'll be fined a hundred yuan. Could you help me?" As she spoke, she took out her phone.

Guan Shi politely but distantly refused, "I'm sorry." Then he lowered his head to reply to Quan Jiu's message.

Ren Tao was rarely rejected by men. Her face turned bright red, and she had to carry the water pitcher back.

He Miao, who had been watching the whole scene, was also holding her breath, afraid that the handsome guy would actually give his WeChat. But seeing Ren Tao return defeated, He Miao's mouth almost split into a grin.

"Oh, celestial beauty, it seems just having a pretty face isn't enough, is it? He's from a medical dynasty. Did you think a little act of cuteness would work? I don't think Young Master Guan even looked up."

Ren Tao was so angry she wanted to throw the water pitcher in her hand at He Miao's face. She glared disdainfully, waiting for that ugly woman to arrive, and she would make her look pathetic.

She would definitely make that ugly woman feel inferior in front of her.

Time passed little by little. During this time, Ren Tao even went to the restroom to reapply her makeup, confident that she looked radiant before coming out.

Then, not long after, the sound of orderly greetings, "Welcome," came from the entrance.

All the waiters looked towards the entrance, wanting to see what kind of person could warrant such attention from Young Master Guan.

A figure with an elegant gait appeared at the entrance. Upon seeing her face, the waiters were all stunned.

Her eyes were like flowing water, and even without makeup, she was breathtakingly beautiful. Even the recognized beauty, Ren Tao, seemed vulgar and petty in comparison.

He Miao immediately smiled. "Compared to her, some people are just ugly ducklings."

Ren Tao's eyes turned red with jealousy. She resentfully said, "It's just plastic surgery, nothing to be proud of."

Liao Wei mumbled, "I think she's naturally beautiful. There's no trace of plastic surgery, and she's not wearing any makeup. She's so pretty."

Ren Tao knew in her heart that her face had no makeup, and all her features were so natural that there was no sign of plastic surgery. But she couldn't accept it in her heart, so she naturally wouldn't admit it.

...

Guan Shi heard footsteps and his heart pounded. He forced himself to calm down and stood up. When he turned around, he saw a face so familiar it was etched into his bones.

"Senior, long time no see," Quan Jiu said with a gentle smile, his gaze soft, immediately diminishing the sense of distance brought by her stunning beauty. Not only Guan Shi, but everyone else who was peeking was also mesmerized.

Guan Shi was too excited to speak. After a while, he regained his composure and pulled out a chair for Quan Jiu. "Sit."

The lobby manager also snapped back to reality and quickly instructed the waiters to serve the dishes one by one.
