Quan Jiu, along with Mi Mi and Tu Tu, followed the Chu family to the main house of the inner courtyard.
A servant was helping Grandpa Chu get dressed.
"Dad, look who's here," Yuan Zijun announced loudly as she entered the room.
Grandpa Chu turned his head after a two-second delay, adjusted his glasses, and said, "Ah? Little Chu, is the company busy, Little Chu?"
Chu Rong hurried forward and supported Grandpa Chu. "Grandpa, the company is fine, not busy."
Grandpa Chu shuffled to a stool and sat down, looking somewhat blankly at Quan Jiu. After a moment, he asked with a hint of confusion, "Doesn't this look like Jiu'er? Is it Jiu'er?"
Quan Jiu's eyes suddenly reddened. She stepped forward and knelt by Grandpa's legs. "Grandpa, it's me. I've come to see you."
Grandpa Chu nodded slightly and patted Quan Jiu's hand. "You child, why haven't you visited Grandpa for so long? Don't mind if Grandpa is old and talks too much. Grandpa and your Grandma lived together and never argued in their lives. In a marriage, you must yield to each other. I yielded to your Grandma my whole life..."
He took Chu Rong's hand and placed it on Quan Jiu's hand, continuing earnestly, "Little Chu, you must yield to Jiu'er in everything. If you don't let Jiu'er feel wronged, then you've chosen the right person."
Chu Rong replied with a soft "Mm." Quan Jiu, however, subtly withdrew her hand.
Chu Rong's expression paused slightly. He squatted beside them, listening to his grandfather continue his rambling.
Old Master Xing now understood. He was still holding Mi Mi and Tu Tu.
"Is this girl your family's daughter-in-law?" he asked Chu Zhenhua.
As they were old family friends, there was nothing to hide. Chu Zhenhua nodded. "We got married seven years ago. It was a critical period for the company's growth, so we didn't announce it publicly. Now..." If Jiu'er didn't object, he certainly wanted his son to make it public.
Old Master Xing was bewildered. His grandson hadn't told him this. How had this perfect granddaughter-in-law and great-grandchildren become someone else's?
Looking at Mi Mi and Tu Tu, Old Master Xing became even more reluctant to let go, pulling the two children closer.
Chu Zhenhua felt a moment of awkwardness, but out of respect for the elder, he couldn't say anything impolite. He could only let Old Master Xing hold his precious grandchildren.
Grandpa Chu, being old, after talking for a while, his eyes began to close as if he were about to fall asleep.
Yuan Zijun stepped forward and advised, "Dad, you should rest for a while. We'll be going out to meet guests later, and there are many guests waiting outside. We'll come back to get you."
Grandpa Chu opened his eyes. "Ah? Oh, Little Chu is here, isn't he? Little Chu, is work busy lately? You must take care of your health and eat well."
Chu Rong held his grandfather's hand tightly, occasionally responding with an "Mm," and only let go when his grandfather seemed to be dozing off again.
"Let's go, let's sit in the side room for a while," Yuan Zijun suggested.
Old Master Xing said at the opportune moment, "Then I'll stay here with them. You go ahead."
"Mi Mi, Tu Tu, will you wait here with Grandma?" Quan Jiu asked the two children.
Mi Mi and Tu Tu naturally agreed obediently.
Old Master Xing's face immediately lit up, and he began telling the children stories about the history of the indoor furnishings.
...
Quan Jiu and the Chu family went to the side room. Shortly after they left, Xing Di entered.
"Old man Xing, you're ruthless. Wherever you can't back down, you push your grandson into it," Xing Di said disdainfully.
Old Master Xing glared. "Who told you to be so unseemly all the time? Why shouldn't I make you back down?" As he spoke, he handed Mi Mi and Tu Tu's small hands to Xing Di. "Here, learn to take care of children first."
Xing Di was stunned, but seeing the two adorable little ones, he unconsciously reached out and took their hands.
Old Master Xing affectionately patted the backs of the two children. "My dears, Grandpa has something to attend to, I'll be back soon." With that, he left with a brisk pace.
"Old man, where are you going?" Xing Di wanted to chase after him, but he couldn't abandon the two children.
"Looking at the direction, he's probably going to eavesdrop," Tu Tu analyzed.
Xing Di froze, chuckled twice, and took out his phone. "Do you play games?"
Tu Tu's spirits lifted. "Yes, yes, I play very well."
...
Old Master Xing was indeed going to eavesdrop. The side room was diagonally to the side of the main house, only a short walk away.
Inside, Yuan Zijun, who had a lot she wanted to say, found herself choked with emotion and heartache. Raising two children alone, without support, she couldn't imagine the hardship.
"Child, you must have suffered a lot all these years."
Quan Jiu's eyes reddened again. She held back her tears and comforted, "It's okay, the two children are very sensible."
She believed that the Chu family already knew the background of Mi Mi and Tu Tu.
Yuan Zijun glanced at Chu Rong and continued, "You have to manage the company and take care of the children. Why don't I send Chen Ma over to help with your daily life?"
"Company?" Chu Rong looked at Quan Jiu with confusion.
Yuan Zijun said irritably, "Seeing how indifferent you are, I don't want to tell you. Jiu'er opened an entertainment company. You, as a husband, don't even know what your wife is doing." As she spoke, she became agitated again.
Chu Rong looked at Quan Jiu with gentle eyes. "If you want to open an entertainment company, I'll just give you Tianyu. Why bother yourself."
Yuan Zijun quickly nodded. "That's what I thought. Jiu'er, look, why don't you just manage Tianyu? It would save you the trouble of starting from scratch and requiring a lot of effort."
Quan Jiu lowered her head, hesitated for a long time, then looked up and said firmly to the elders, "Dad, Mom, I signed the divorce agreement five years ago. All I want is a divorce certificate."
Yuan Zijun and Chu Zhenhua's expressions paused. They both looked at Quan Jiu with disappointment. However, they also knew about their son's foolish actions back then, so they couldn't utter a word of persuasion.
Yuan Zijun thought for a moment, then smiled again. "Divorce is about the husband, not parents. You won't disown me and your Dad, will you?"
Quan Jiu shook her head, touched. "You will always be my most beloved Dad and Mom."
She had never met her biological parents, but after getting married, she had enjoyed the love of parents. In her heart, Grandpa Chu, Dad Chu, and Mom Chu were her family whom she would always recognize.
Upon hearing this, Yuan Zijun's mood improved, and she even considered adopting Jiu'er as her goddaughter if the divorce went through.
Chu Zhenhua had no objections, speaking according to his wife's wishes, and also nodded happily.
Chu Rong's brow furrowed tightly.
Yuan Zijun gave him a glare, then looked at Quan Jiu seriously. "Jiu'er, if you don't mind, you can be my goddaughter. After dinner, we'll go get the certificate." This would show her son how anxious he'd be.
As expected, Chu Rong's expression grew increasingly displeased. Finally, he stood up, took Quan Jiu's hand, and walked out.
Old Master Xing, who was eavesdropping outside the door, was quick. He jumped far away and darted back to the main house.
As soon as he entered the room, Old Master Xing happily whispered to his grandson, "Good grandson, you still have a chance. That girl wants a divorce and said she signed the divorce agreement five years ago. You try harder, and maybe you can win the beauty's heart."
