Chapter 178 - 178 178 Pack of Wolves

178: Chapter 178: Pack of Wolves 178: Chapter 178: Pack of Wolves As Wang Yan let out a wolf howl, the surrounding mountains immediately echoed back.

At first, there was a single wolf howl, resonating from the distant eastern mountains.

Soon after, a howl arose from the west, followed by the south and north.

The wolf howls grew louder and more numerous, and in the blink of an eye, it seemed as if all the mountains around them were responding with howls, a continuous rise and fall of wolf cries.

Listening now, it felt as if there were thousands of wolves in these mountains.

The wolf howls pierced through layers of mountains, through clusters of green, reaching the ears of Liu Xia and his group.

Liu Xia and his companions trembled in fright, quickly looking behind them.

Amidst the howls, they heard the sound of a beast charging through the distant mountains.

Though they couldn’t see what kind of beast it was, wherever it passed, trees trembled, the earth shook, and clouds of dust rose skyward.

The hundreds led by Liu Xia glanced at each other, faces filled with shock.

“Have we walked into a wolf den?”

“Are we surrounded by wolves?”

“What do we do?”

“Run quickly!”

All the men felt their limbs turn to jelly, wishing desperately to flee from this place immediately.

Only Liu Xia retained a sliver of clarity and rebuked loudly, “What wolves?

Even if there are, it’s just one or two.

What are we afraid of?”

Seeing Liu Xia’s anger, though they wanted to escape, the men were intimidated by Liu Xia’s might and dared not move.

At this moment, the sound of beasts running grew closer, soon reaching the trees behind the men.

The men kept their eyes fixed on the trees, trying to see if a pack of wolves was indeed charging at them, with a few hoping it was not wolves at all.

Then, amidst the greenery, a shadow flickered, and a massive Gray Wolf lunged out.

This Gray Wolf was enormous, like a small bull, its eyes glowing a ghostly blue, mouth open, bearing sharp teeth.

The men gasped in fright, hastily raising their guns to aim at the giant wolf.

Just then, the forest resounded with rapid footsteps, and more giant Gray Wolves burst forth, each as large as the first.

In an instant, hundreds appeared, surrounding the men completely.

Seeing the hundreds of Gray Wolves, all the men were dumbstruck with fear, even Liu Xia was wide-eyed, bewildered and unsure of what to do.

“Boss, what do we do?” All the men looked to Liu Xia, faces showing panic.

Liu Xia gritted his teeth, raised his gun, and said, “We fight our way out.”

At that moment, the sound of pounding hooves was on all sides, as more wolves emerged, hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands.

All around the men, wolves filled the space, with tens of thousands of glowing blue eyes shifting, sending shivers down one’s spine.

This time, even Liu Xia’s teeth chattered in fear, hands shaking too much to hold the gun steady.

Just then, Wang Yan howled again, a sound like a command, and the previously still wolves moved.

All the Gray Wolves leaped forward, mouths open wide, attempting to bite Liu Xia’s group.

Within the hundreds of men, many were frightened beyond measure, collapsing limply to the ground, while some managed to move, dropping their guns and fleeing.

But the Gray Wolves surrounded them on all sides, with nowhere to escape.

Barely two steps away, they were blocked, knocked to the ground.

Once a man was pinned down, a dozen Gray Wolves surged forth, each biting at the man.

The man could only let out a wretched scream before turning into a bloody, mangled corpse.

As those dozen wolves each tore off a piece of flesh and left, the once vibrant man lay there, covered in blood, gutted, with stark white bones showing through the red, and through the opened belly, the faint sight of a beating heart could be seen.

Screams echoed through the mountains, and blood gushed, dyeing the entire hill red in moments.

Liu Xia stood there, watching as his underlings scattered in all directions, yet continuously devoured by the wolves, leaving him trembling in fear, feeling a warm wetness beneath him, followed by a pungent stench rising.

Compared to the surrounding gore, this stench was negligible now.

The screams gradually diminished, and fewer men remained standing to flee.

Before long, apart from a few on the ground capable of groaning, the hundreds of men had all perished by wolf attack.

Once the thousands of Gray Wolves finished off the men, they all turned to Liu Xia.

At this point, each wolf’s mouth was stained with red blood, each exhaling a bloody mist.

Liu Xia staggered back in horror, but after a few steps, there was no retreat left.

All around him stood the endless Gray Wolves.

With the last bit of his strength, Liu Xia raised his gun, aiming at the massive Gray Wolf advancing towards him.

“Don’t come any closer… don’t come near…”

“If you come any closer, I’ll shoot!”

Liu Xia trembled as he waved the gun, speaking shakily.

But how could the Gray Wolf understand Liu Xia?

It continued to approach him step by step, closing in.

Liu Xia gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and fiercely pulled the trigger.

Yet, just as Liu Xia was about to pull the trigger, a streak of red light flashed behind him, and Liu Xia’s handgun disappeared.

Liu Xia pulled at thin air, finding no resistance.

Startled, Liu Xia opened his eyes to see Ma Jun standing not far away, holding the gun and looking at him with a smirk.

The red light was Ma Jun, snatching Liu Xia’s pistol in the nick of time.

At that moment, the massive Gray Wolf pounced forward, knocking Liu Xia down and biting into his throat.

Liu Xia fell to the ground, mouth wide open, straining to scream, but his broken throat made any sound impossible, leaving him only to helplessly wave his hands in the air before being engulfed by the charging wolves.
