After the meal, Lan Yan took Momo to rest, while Jun Yelan was responsible for cleaning up the bowls and chopsticks.
Once Jun Yelan finished, he walked into the cave and heard a soft "Daddy" from the opposite side, causing him to freeze. He then looked at Momo, saw that she had closed her eyes, and gently "mhm"-ed before moving to a corner to sleep.
His lips couldn't stop curving upwards as his gaze fell upon the sleeping Lan Yan.
The next morning, Lan Yan got up and went to the open ground for a run, only to see a wolf demon ascending the mountain. She had been so focused on Jun Yelan's true form these past few days that she had forgotten about this wolf demon.
The wolf demon had encountered Jun Yelan at the foot of the mountain before and apologized for his carelessness. Today, he had specifically come to deliver good news to Lan Yan. "Miss Lan, the once-a-decade demon festival has begun. You can go and see it with His Highness Jun."
"Demon festival?" Lan Yan's eyes lit up. She hadn't expected life in the demon realm to be so vibrant. She smiled, "Is the demon festival very lively?"
The wolf demon chuckled, "Of course. On the day of the demon festival, almost all demon beasts will appear, and there will be plenty of delicious food and fun things to do. More importantly, many lovers and couples also attend."
He narrowed his eyes, thinking Lan Yan would surely be interested.
Lan Yan indeed was, and she nodded unconsciously. "Then I'm definitely going to the demon festival. By the way, little wolf, you'll take care of Momo then. I'm afraid Momo might get lost in such a crowd."
The wolf demon had accepted his new moniker, even though he was clearly the Wolf Demon King! He patted his chest and exclaimed, "Don't worry, Miss Lan."
Thus, Lan Yan walked into the cave with ease and shared the news with Jun Yelan and Momo. "We've been staying on the mountain all these days, and it's been a while since we've visited the demon market. This is a perfect opportunity to go and see it."
Jun Yelan always listened to Lan Yan, and so did Momo.
The three of them then began to change their clothes, preparing to depart.
Lan Yan took out the new clothes Jun Yelan had bought her last time. She chose a sky-blue ruqun and put it on, securing her hair with a hairpin. She then put on earrings and nothing else, swishing her sleeves as she walked out.
Momo was standing at the entrance and couldn't help but exclaim, "Mother is so beautiful." She had seen many female demon beasts, but none were as beautiful as her mother.
Beside her, Jun Yelan's eyes flashed with a hint of astonishment before he concealed it, following Lan Yan's side.
Lan Yan smiled, stroked Momo's head, and called out, "Let's go!"
The three of them arrived at the demon market. The market was adorned with festive lanterns, with red lanterns hung everywhere. Beneath each lantern sat a stall, guarded by different demon beasts.
Lan Yan had only visited once before, and she had spent more time at the auction house then, not really browsing. Now, she realized how lively the demon market was and couldn't help but head towards the stalls, wanting to buy something.
The stall owner, seeing that Lan Yan had no demon aura, was puzzled. But then he saw Jun Yelan behind her and dared not say anything further. He brought out some horns and claws, introducing, "What would this lady like to eat? I have all sorts of delicacies here."
Before Lan Yan could get a good look, Jun Yelan pulled her to the side, his eyes filled with confusion.
Jun Yelan made Lan Yan turn her back to the stall and looked at the demon beast items on the stalls behind them, saying, "The food here isn't good. I'll take you to the front." After all, Lan Yan was different from demon beasts.
"Okay." Lan Yan was led away by Jun Yelan to a delicate pastry stall. Looking at the osmanthus cakes, she smiled, "How did you know I like to eat this?"
Jun Yelan actually didn't know, but this thought had just popped into his mind, so he brought Lan Yan here. "Boss, two portions." He handed one to Lan Yan and the other to Momo.
Momo obediently followed behind them, with the wolf demon guarding her side. She didn't want to disturb her mother and father.
Lan Yan ate the osmanthus cake in her hand, and her lips immediately curved upwards. The taste was exquisite. She held it up to Jun Yelan's mouth and smiled, "You eat too. I'm not lying, you'll like this taste."
Jun Yelan didn't like sweets, but looking into Lan Yan's eyes, he gently grasped her wrist and bit into the cake along with Lan Yan's fingers. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he nodded.
This made Lan Yan's cheeks flush. She hadn't expected Jun Yelan to eat like this. She withdrew her hand, turned, and lowered her head to eat the cake in her hand, almost afraid to look at the person beside her.
Jun Yelan's lips curled into a slight arc, and the smile in his eyes almost overflowed as he walked beside Lan Yan. Their sleeves brushed against each other, and their hands were also close.
At this moment, cheers erupted from the crowd ahead, and Lan Yan, feeling curious, squeezed through to see.
Jun Yelan smiled helplessly and followed suit.
However, a group of people suddenly emerged from the crowd, blocking Jun Yelan's path, directly facing the direction of the performance.
Jun Yelan's eyes darkened. He avoided these people and walked forward, only to find that Lan Yan was nowhere to be seen.
His heart skipped a beat, and he clenched his fist, searching the crowd before him.
Lan Yan was also jostled to the side by the crowd. Turning, she couldn't see Jun Yelan and called out, "Jun Yelan." She tried to walk back, but the crowd was too dense, making passage difficult.
She could only find gaps to move, but the crowd behind her began to push again, and she was suddenly jostled to somewhere unknown. A push from behind sent her leaning forward, and she fell heavily to the ground.
"Ouch!" She lifted her hands that had fallen to the ground. Her palms were scraped and bleeding. Looking at the sea of people before her, she couldn't find Jun Yelan at all, and her eyelids drooped.
Jun Yelan kept pushing through the crowd, urgently shoving people aside, but none of them were Lan Yan. He took out a paper figure, which was hanging its head. Lan Yan was in trouble!
His eyebrows furrowed with anxiety. He directly soared into the air, spreading his wings, and scanned the crowd below. He looked from left to right and spotted a blue figure in a corner. His eyes darkened as he flew down.
Lan Yan was just about to get up when the crowd in front of her happened to retreat, and she was about to be stepped on. As she tried to use her magic with her palms, a hand appeared at her waist and lifted her up.
She looked at Jun Yelan in front of her, her hands wrapped around his neck, her eyes filled with joy and apology. "Jun Yelan, I promise I won't wander off again next time."
Jun Yelan placed Lan Yan in a less crowded area and held her hand, saying, "It was my fault for not protecting you well." He looked at Lan Yan's injured palm, placed his hand on it, and gently brushed it away, causing the wound to disappear.
This was another injury Lan Yan had suffered because of him! He slightly tightened his grip on Lan Yan's wrist, his eyes becoming deep.
Seeing that Jun Yelan was not right, Lan Yan waved her hand in front of his eyes and said, "Jun Yelan, I should be the one apologizing, not you. It's okay, this was just an accident."
She swore she had only wanted to take a look just now, and she hadn't expected the crowd to be so much larger and more crowded than she had anticipated. She took the initiative to hold Jun Yelan's hand, "From now on, no matter where we go, I won't let go of your hand, so I won't get lost."
"Okay." Jun Yelan's voice became much deeper. He interlaced his fingers with Lan Yan's, preparing to leave the place. However, at some point, a crowd had gathered around them, their eyes filled with a trace of ferocity.
Lan Yan also looked at the crowd in confusion. They were all staring at Jun Yelan; what did they want?
