Chapter 354 Hide Him in the Room

Lan Yan walked out and saw the guards from before still searching other rooms. She quietly hid at the corner of the stairs.

The guards' conversation drifted over, "Where has this damned assassin hidden? Making us search everywhere."

"Don't worry, he can't escape. The surroundings have already been sealed off."

"Just let me find this guard, and I'll make sure he pays!" the head guard said angrily, leading his men away to search elsewhere.

Lan Yan breathed a sigh of relief and emerged from the corner. Thinking of Jun Ye Lan's injury, she went to the backyard and found some food and a medicine bottle.

The brothel often had girls and guests injured, so medicine was always kept on hand.

Carrying these items, she sneakily returned to her room. As she pushed the door open, another sword was pointed at her neck.

However, the sword was quickly withdrawn. Jun Ye Lan looked at the person before him and, for some reason, felt a sense of relief. He was an assassin; he needed to be vigilant every moment, but this woman always gave him a sense of familiarity.

It was as if he had seen her before, yet he was sure this was the first time meeting her.

Lan Yan placed the items she was carrying on the table and said, "Those people have left the building, but they are still outside. For safety's sake, you should stay here."

"Sit here and take off your clothes."

Jun Ye Lan was startled. Was this woman always this bold? First, she had pushed him down, and now she was telling him to undress.

Lan Yan picked up the medicine bottle and poured some powder onto a cloth. Seeing Jun Ye Lan not move, she asked in confusion, "Don't you want your arm anymore?" This person was truly strange, not anxious to treat his wound but instead staring at her. httpδ:/m.kuAisugg.nět

She couldn't possibly be that beautiful!

Jun Ye Lan snapped back to reality and sat down, exposing his arm. He watched Lan Yan busy herself and realized he had misunderstood earlier, a hint of annoyance flashing in his eyes.

He quickly calmed down and focused on Lan Yan treating his wound.

Lan Yan applied the cloth to Jun Ye Lan's wound, looking at the long knife gash. She muttered, "You really know how to endure. This wound has already split open. You shouldn't wield a sword for the next few days."

"Think about it, if your arm is disabled, how inconvenient will your life be? Who will take care of you?"

Listening to the woman's chatter, Jun Ye Lan did not interrupt. Instead, a different feeling stirred within him. From birth, he had been trained as an assassin; his mind was filled with killing every day.

He was emotionless, the most formidable assassin in the阁 (ge), and had never known what it felt like to be cared for, nor had he ever cared for anyone.

Lan Yan's lips curved into a slight smile as she saw how obediently Jun Ye Lan was listening to her.

After finishing bandaging, she looked at the knot she had tied and smiled, "Only I know how to tie this knot, so I'll change your dressing for the next few days. You can't leave until you're healed."

She was unfamiliar with this place. If her mission target ran away, where would she find him?

Seeing that Jun Ye Lan was not only handsome but also being pursued and injured, she was now completely certain he was her mission target.

Jun Ye Lan saw the mischievous glint in Lan Yan's eyes and was filled with confusion. Why was this person treating him this way? Earlier, he had held his sword, having entertained the thought of killing her.

"You..."

A knock on the door interrupted his words. Lan Yan quickly put away her things and told Jun Ye Lan to hide behind the screen. Seeing that he was hidden, she opened the door nonchalantly and called out, "Mama Liang."

Mama Liang sighed, "It's all those guards' fault. They scared away all my customers. The performance has to be canceled. Lan girl, get some good rest, and we'll talk about it tomorrow."

She rubbed her forehead. Her losses today were substantial.

For Lan Yan, this was good news. She hid the smile in her eyes and feigned regret, saying, "Then Mama Liang, you should go rest too."

Mama Liang nodded, then suddenly caught the scent of medicine in the room and asked, "Lan girl, are you injured? This is serious, do you need a doctor?"

Lan Yan thought she couldn't let Mama Liang find out, and pitifully rubbed her knee, "It's those people just now. I was too anxious and bumped into the edge of the bed. It's just a small injury, nothing serious."

"Then you must apply the medicine properly and not delay tomorrow's performance. I'm counting on you to make money," Mama Liang said worriedly, as Lan Yan was her cash cow.

"Among the girls in this establishment, you are the one I value the most." She didn't think much of others like Xiao Yun.

Lan Yan gave an awkward smile, "Yes, Mama Liang. You should go to bed too. If you don't sleep, you'll get wrinkles." If she didn't leave soon, her knees would really start to ache from standing for so long.

"Oh, my face." Mama Liang touched the corners of her eyes, noticing fine lines appearing. She said angrily, "It's all those people's fault. Those darn scoundrels." She cursed as she left.

Seeing that person had finally left, Lan Yan glanced at both sides of the door, ensuring no one else was there, and quickly closed it. She turned to see Jun Ye Lan holding his sword and smiled, "It's safe tonight, get some rest."

She was also tired after a day's work. She walked to the bedside, arranged the pillows and blankets, and then looked at Jun Ye Lan.

Jun Ye Lan said, "I'm not sleeping on the bed." He walked to the nearby window and sat on a chair there.

"Alright." Lan Yan had initially intended to share half the bed with Jun Ye Lan, but seeing that he disliked being close to her, she lay down with a clear conscience. Hugging her pillow, she soon fell asleep.

Jun Ye Lan listened to the steady breathing and glanced at the bed, murmuring, "So completely unguarded." She trusted him far too much.

But this woman was indeed bold, unafraid of his identity, and even dared to treat his wounds. He looked at the person on the bed once more before slowly shifting his gaze away and closing his eyes.

In the middle of the night, Lan Yan's brow furrowed as she fell into a dream. She saw herself walking in a thick fog, unable to find her way. She could also sense an emotion, an emotion tinged with sadness.

She walked forward, even beginning to run, but remained trapped. She mumbled, "No."

Jun Ye Lan's eyes snapped open. Realizing the sound was coming from Lan Yan, he walked to the bedside. Seeing the cold sweat on Lan Yan's forehead and her panicked expression, it was clear she was having a nightmare.

He called out, "Lan Yan, wake up." Seeing that she was still not waking, he gently shook her shoulders and called again, "Lan Yan, you're dreaming, wake up."

Feeling a familiar presence, Lan Yan gradually calmed down, and her furrowed brow relaxed.

Jun Ye Lan released his hand and turned to leave, but his sleeve was caught. He looked at Lan Yan curled up on herself, resembling a small kitten, and couldn't help but sit down again.

He looked at Lan Yan's hand gripping his, his eyes darkened, but ultimately he did nothing. Leaning against the headboard, holding his sword, he fell asleep again.

In her dream, Lan Yan finally found her path and saw the end of it, where Jun Ye Lan's figure stood. Her lips curved upward slightly, and she felt a sense of peace.
