Clean clothes and medicine were quickly delivered, and Lan Yan changed Jun Yelan's clothes and tended to his wounds.
She placed a handkerchief on Jun Yelan's forehead and murmured, "Jun Yelan, you need to wake up quickly."
Jun Yelan did not respond, already asleep.
Seeing this, Lan Yan leaned against the wall and slowly closed her eyes. However, she was not completely asleep, waking up from time to time to change the handkerchief and feel Jun Yelan's forehead. She only felt at ease when she saw he was no longer feverish.
When Jun Yelan opened his eyes, he saw only a frail figure sitting in the corner of the wall, her brow furrowed as if she couldn't sleep soundly.
He shifted, sitting beside Lan Yan, and rested her head on his shoulder.
After doing all this, he was already breathless. He looked at his palm, his eyes darkening. His cultivation was gradually dissipating, likely due to his severe injuries.
Lan Yan woke up to find herself with Jun Yelan and did not rush to get up. A smile played on her lips as she asked, "Jun Yelan, are you feeling better?"
"With you here, I naturally am," Jun Yelan replied, grasping Lan Yan's right hand.
Lan Yan turned over Jun Yelan's palm and looked at the scars on his palm, her voice filled with pain. "It must have hurt a lot. How did you endure it all these years?"
Seeing Lan Yan's worry, Jun Yelan smiled instead. "It hurt at first, but then I got used to it, and it didn't matter anymore. Yan'er, now that I have you, I won't let myself get hurt so easily again."
His life now belonged to Lan Yan.
Lan Yan nodded, her smile becoming even brighter. "If you dare to get hurt again, I'll be angry, and it'll be the kind that can't be soothed."
"Now I have nothing, I truly can't appease you," Jun Yelan's eyes dimmed slightly. He was imprisoned here and had even burdened Lan Yan.
Lan Yan shook her head. "Who says you have nothing?" She turned around, cupped Jun Yelan's cheeks with both hands, and teased, "My beauty, smile for me."
Jun Yelan was amused, a curve forming on his lips, his eyes rippling with color. This smile was more beautiful than peach blossoms in spring, more captivating.
Lan Yan couldn't help but freeze, her cheeks flushing. Oh dear, she had lifted a rock only to drop it on her own foot. "Beauty truly is deceptive."
"Yan'er, what did you say?" Jun Yelan hadn't heard clearly.
Lan Yan waved her hand. "Nothing, don't use this move on anyone else in the future, or I'll truly get angry."
Jun Yelan was usually cold, but his smile was too alluring. What if someone else lured him away?
Jun Yelan reached out and hugged Lan Yan's waist, tapping her forehead. "Yan'er, only you can make me smile."
This made Lan Yan a little smug. She pounced into Jun Yelan's arms, her eyes unable to hide her joy.
Jun Yelan seized the opportunity to release his other hand, revealing the necklace within, and smiled, "Yan'er, I can finally give it to you personally." He had relied on this for support these past days.
Looking at the marks on the necklace, Lan Yan understood Jun Yelan's hardship and tried her best to smile. She smiled with her back to Jun Yelan, "Put it on for me."
"Okay." Jun Yelan clenched and then loosened his grip on the necklace, his gaze flickering as he looked at Lan Yan's fair neck.
He fastened the necklace, his fingertips accidentally brushing against Lan Yan's skin, and the tips of his ears gradually flushed crimson.
He cleared his throat and said, "Done."
Lan Yan looked down, her hand caressing the necklace on her chest, and smiled. "I won't take it off again," she said. She and Jun Yelan now had no secrets, and they would support each other in the days to come.
Jun Yelan curved his lips and said, "Yan'er, I didn't hand over that list. I put it somewhere."
"Wait, walls have ears. Don't say it out loud," Lan Yan looked around, sat beside Jun Yelan, and whispered, "I told your Pavilion Master that I have a way to unlock the lock, and that's how he brought me to see you."
Jun Yelan's eyes darkened. This Pavilion Master Bai, seeing that he wouldn't yield, had devised a way to lure Lan Yan. He wanted to use Lan Yan to force himself, but thankfully Lan Yan was clever.
"Now we have the list, and he wouldn't dare deal with us easily. However, this person is impatient, and this plan cannot be delayed. I will tell him I'm going to get the list, and then Yan'er, you can escape."
This was the best method now.
"What about you?" Lan Yan was not foolish; she knew Jun Yelan certainly hadn't left himself an escape route.
Jun Yelan remained silent.
Lan Yan became angry. "I came to save you, not for you to die. If you continue like this, I won't leave either." She wanted Jun Yelan to live, to live well.
"Yan'er, I promise you, I'll find a way to escape later," Jun Yelan held Lan Yan's hand, his eyes trembling. But he was actually severely injured and had no second chance.
Lan Yan's eyes welled up with tears as she shook her head. "You're lying. Jun Yelan, I, Lan Yan, swear today that I will live and die with Jun Yelan. I will definitely take you out and fulfill my promise."
Jun Yelan stood frozen, his heart trembling in the face of Lan Yan's great determination.
He embraced Lan Yan, his eyes filled with resolve. "Good, I, Jun Yelan, also swear that I will do my utmost to stay by Lan Yan's side."
"Mmm," Lan Yan showed a smile of a successful scheme. If she didn't do this, Jun Yelan wouldn't value himself. She knew Jun Yelan was an assassin, and his upbringing had shaped his mindset.
What she wanted to do was teach Jun Yelan to treat himself kindly, not to change for anyone.
Jun Yelan felt warmth in his heart.
The two embraced for a long time before letting go and then began to formulate a plan.
When Pavilion Master Bai appeared again, he was furious seeing the intimate atmosphere between the two. "Jun Yelan, since you are awake, hand over the list, or your beloved will not be safe."
A ruthless glint appeared in Jun Yelan's eyes, and he was about to step forward when Lan Yan stopped him.
"Pavilion Master Bai, we can hand over the list, but the list is not here. We will accompany you to retrieve it tomorrow. Prepare yourself," Lan Yan said coldly.
Pavilion Master Bai snorted. "Don't think about any tricks. You can't escape the Assassin's Pavilion."
Lan Yan was too lazy to reply. Watching Pavilion Master Bai leave, she grumbled, "Just you wait, I'll beat you up one day." The thought of the suffering Jun Yelan had endured these past days made her grit her teeth.
Jun Yelan, standing beside her, silently noted that Pavilion Master Bai was someone Lan Yan disliked.
Lan Yan looked at Jun Yelan and nodded. "We will rest well tonight and prepare for tomorrow."
"Okay," Jun Yelan leaned against the wall and patted his shoulder.
Lan Yan couldn't help but smile, hooked her arm through Jun Yelan's, leaned against his side, and closed her eyes with peace.
Jun Yelan, however, did not sleep. Instead, through the moonlight, he gazed at Lan Yan's profile.
If he could help Lan Yan tomorrow, he felt that his existence as a weapon of killing would be worthwhile.
