Chapter 16 Pull Yourself Together

Jun Yelan did not sit down, but remained standing beside Lan Yan. He watched Lan Yan domineeringly deal with the maids, and something in his heart trembled.

This was the first person willing to protect him.

A hint of color returned to his eyes, and he hid the stone he had prepared in his palm within his sleeve. Although he had lost his martial arts, after resting for this period, teaching these two maids a lesson was more than enough.

Seeing that Jun Yelan wasn't sitting, Lan Yan worried that his body couldn't endure it. She had two young servants fetch a soft couch and place it in a corner of the courtyard.

Then she had the servants drag the maids away and said to the others in the courtyard, "From now on, whoever gossips like them will suffer a worse fate!"

"Yes, Eldest Miss!" The people in the courtyard bowed respectfully, not daring to look at Lan Yan or Jun Yelan, and quickly withdrew.

The courtyard fell silent. Lan Yan looked at Jun Yelan, "Do you want to sunbathe in the courtyard?"

She guessed that Jun Yelan had lost the mood to go out.

Jun Yelan nodded; anywhere was the same to him.

Seeing Jun Yelan's silence, Lan Yan knew he was still affected by what had just happened. She said, "What else do you need? I'll prepare it for you."

Jun Yelan looked up and saw Lan Yan's radiant appearance again. The tremor in his heart grew. He replied, "Books." He used to love reading in his spare time when he was at war.

Moreover, he needed to understand the current situation. He would not let go of anyone who had harmed him in the Serpent Clan.

This was the first time Jun Yelan had actively asked her for something, even if it was just simple books. Lan Yan couldn't help but smile, "Wait a moment, I'll get them for you from the study."

She turned and headed towards the study.

Watching her retreating back, her footsteps filled with joy, a hint of gentleness appeared on Jun Yelan's face. He sat on the soft couch and began to ponder strategies to deal with those who had conspired against him before.

At that moment, footsteps were heard from outside the courtyard. He opened his eyes and met the gaze of Liu Tingting, who was approaching stealthily. His eyes darkened, and his entire face was filled with coldness.

Liu Tingting, however, was smiling. Seeing Lan Yan absent after looking around, she felt this was a good opportunity. After returning, she found the submissive slaves in the manor boring; only such a thorny beauty was truly captivating.

She had been waiting for Lan Yan to abandon Jun Yelan, but after so many days, she hadn't heard any news. She couldn't wait any longer, so she came to Lan Yan's place to check, only to see Jun Yelan sitting alone in the courtyard.

Though it seemed desolate, this face was truly exquisite! "It's so boring to follow Lan Yan. If you followed me, this Eldest Miss, I would treat you well."

Jun Yelan watched with cold eyes, his fingertips idly spinning the small stone.

Seeing his lack of response, Liu Tingting lost her patience. She scoffed, "You're just a slave; I can have you whenever I want. Even if I did something to you here, Lan Yan wouldn't say anything for you."

"You can try," Jun Yelan's words carried a bone-chilling coldness. His gaze fell on Liu Tingting's knees, waiting for her to step closer before his stone would fly.

Liu Tingting was somewhat intimidated. She thought for a moment about Jun Yelan's status and felt there was nothing to fear. She quickly lunged forward, but her knees suddenly hurt, and she fell to the ground.

Her head struck the edge of the soft couch, and a large bump immediately formed. "I'll beat you to death!"

"Liu Tingting, what are you doing to me!" Lan Yan, carrying a pile of books, had just arrived from the study when she saw Liu Tingting's words, her eyes burning with rage.
