Chapter 32 The Second Move

The next morning, Lan Yan specifically called a servant and instructed, "I will wait on Jun Yelan's usual route, and you wear a black mask and guard behind me."

"As soon as you see Jun Yelan appear, pretend to chase me. You must act fierce."

The servant looked surprised and knelt, kowtowing, "Miss, this servant dare not." If he dared to harm the young lady, he would die miserably.

Lan Yan said, "I will pardon you. Instead, if you do this well, I will reward you with money." She gave him a deposit first and let the servant go down to prepare.

Then she secretly went to Jun Yelan's door, inserted a prepared short arrow into the door, knocked once, and quickly slipped away.

She hid in the adjacent room, listening for movement.

Soon, the door next to her opened. Jun Yelan looked at the short arrow on the door and frowned. He opened the note on it, which contained only one sentence, "Meet me at Manxiang Restaurant at noon."

Who sent this! He crumpled the note into a ball, suspecting it was another scheme by the Snake Prince. If so, he would go to meet them, but he needed to make some preparations.

Seeing Jun Yelan walk out holding the note, Lan Yan breathed a sigh of relief. "Fortunately, he believed it." She waited for Jun Yelan to leave and then followed him.

On the street, Jun Yelan walked in the middle, stopped, and looked back. He saw a corner of an衣角 at the turn. He pursed his lips and continued forward.

Lan Yan emerged, clutching her chest. How dangerous, she was almost discovered! Jun Yelan was too vigilant, and she dared not follow too closely, only keeping a distance.

As she followed, she looked at the empty street ahead and wondered, "Strange, where did the person go?" She looked around her current spot but couldn't see Jun Yelan anywhere.

Oh no, she might have lost him.

Meanwhile, in a nearby alley, Jun Yelan was watching Lan Yan. He had known for a long time that someone was following him and was curious about their purpose.

When he realized it was Lan Yan, he clenched his fist slightly, and the tension in his heart vanished.

He thought about the note that had suddenly appeared and looked at Lan Yan. Everything was too coincidental. He continued walking, curious to see what would happen.

Seeing the familiar figure, Lan Yan quickly hid and quickened her pace to follow Jun Yelan.

Jun Yelan walked ahead, glancing back from time to time, a smile playing on his lips.

It was almost noon. Lan Yan signaled to the servant who was lying in ambush ahead, letting him know he could come out. She herself shouted, "Help, someone is chasing me!"

She ran forward and suddenly bumped into something like a wall, but this wall wasn't hard. She looked up and saw Jun Yelan's slightly cold face, startled.

Remembering she was still in character, she quickly grabbed Jun Yelan's sleeve and hid behind him. She then said pitifully, "Jun Yelan, it's so good to see you. Quickly drive them away!"

"Where is anyone?" Jun Yelan's lips seemed to curve slightly as he asked.

Lan Yan poked her head out, her pupils trembling slightly. Why had the servant disappeared! After all her calculations, she hadn't anticipated that the servant would betray her and flee at the crucial moment!

She was miserable.

Jun Yelan looked at Lan Yan's furrowed brow, a smile appearing in his eyes. "Since there's no one, let's go." He started walking back, his steps much lighter.

"Oh." Lan Yan followed, still dwelling on the frustration of her mission failing again. After walking for a while, she realized they were on the way back to the manor and asked, "Didn't you have something to do when you went out?"

Jun Yelan said, "It's not important anymore." He slowed his pace and walked beside Lan Yan. When someone passed by, he leaned slightly to his right, extending his hand to protect Lan Yan's shoulder, but without touching her.

Lan Yan, lost in thought about her next strategy, noticed nothing.

Upon returning to the manor, they each retired to their respective rooms.

Shen Jin had already been waiting in the courtyard. Seeing Lan Yan return with her head down, he called out, "Xiao Yan, what's wrong? Who bullied you? Tell your cousin. Was it that Jun Yelan!"

He made as if to go and settle the score with Jun Yelan.

Lan Yan put her hand to her forehead, held back Shen Jin, and shook her head, "Cousin, you've misunderstood. I have other worries." She thought of Shen Jin's popularity with women and asked, "Cousin, how do you make someone happy?"

Shen Jin was taken aback, fanning himself, and smiled, "Cousin, you've asked the right person. To please someone, you must cater to their preferences. Prepare what they like and what they care about."

"Care about?" Lan Yan suddenly thought of something: Jun Yelan's martial arts! "Cousin, you are well-traveled. Do you know the whereabouts of Divine Doctor Lin?"

Shen Jin said, "You're looking for him? Simple. My family's business spans across the land. I'll send people to look, and they'll get you news soon." With that, he left directly to attend to it.

Lan Yan suddenly felt that this cousin was quite reliable.

Three days later, Shen Jin returned, finished a cup of tea, and said, fanning himself, "Found him. He's currently treating people at a temple outside the city."

Lan Yan's eyes immediately lit up. This was indeed good news. "Cousin, thank you. I'll go right away."

"Wait. That Divine Doctor Lin has a peculiar temper; he might not see you."

Lan Yan had already stepped out the door and turned back with a smile, "Whether he sees me or not, I have to go." Great, as long as she could get Divine Doctor Lin to cure Jun Yelan, once Jun Yelan's martial arts recovered, he would be happy, and nothing would be a problem.

She rode her horse directly to the temple outside the city. Many people had already gathered here, forming a long line. At the very front was an old man sitting behind a stall.

The old man had half-white hair, a stern face, and piercing eyes. After checking a patient's pulse, he wrote a prescription, handed it to the apprentice beside him, and spoke no unnecessary words.

Lan Yan watched and joined the queue. She spoke to the person in front of her, "Is this Divine Doctor Lin really that divine?"

"Of course. Young lady, Divine Doctor Lin is known for bringing the dead back to life and flesh to white bones. There was a patient who couldn't stand up for a long time, but after being treated by Divine Doctor Lin, he was able to stand."

"Yes, I've heard similar stories. If Divine Doctor Lin can treat me this time, my entire life will have been worthwhile." The two older men had already begun to praise him.

Lan Yan asked no further questions and kept her eyes fixed on the front.

At this moment, she saw a carriage approaching nearby. From it alighted Liu Tingting, wearing a veil.

Liu Tingting tightened her veil and, followed by her maid, walked directly to Divine Doctor Lin.

The maid said, "Divine Doctor Lin, please see our young lady first. No matter how much it costs, our young lady can afford it."

However, Divine Doctor Lin continued to treat his patients, not even glancing at them.

Liu Tingting became somewhat angry. The red marks on her body had not been cured by many doctors. Having finally learned of Divine Doctor Lin's whereabouts, she had come here especially, only to be ignored.

She threw out a gold ingot and said, "Divine Doctor Lin, this is just a deposit!"

"Take away your stinking money," Divine Doctor Lin said coldly.

Liu Tingting became even more enraged and was about to grab Divine Doctor Lin.

Seeing this, Lan Yan walked out from behind and said, "Liu Tingting, try and touch him if you dare!"
