Chapter 27 Lovers Quarrel

In the room, Lan Yan and Jun Yelan stood facing each other. Upon hearing footsteps outside the door, she abruptly smashed the teacup in her hand to the ground. She pursed her lips, her heart aching.

Once the mastermind behind Du Yin was caught, she would make them pay!

The sight drew a different hue to Jun Yelan’s eyes. Following his plan, he called out, “What are you doing?”

Lan Yan raised her head, fully immersed in her role, and said angrily, “It’s all because of you. You’ve always been so cold to me, and my patience has worn thin. From today on, I’m going to dote on someone else. I think that Du Yin is quite good.”

“Fine, go ahead. Go now!” Jun Yelan replied.

Lan Yan responded, “Alright. If you want me to go, I will! Who’s afraid of whom!” She made a move towards the door. As she reached it, she turned to look at Jun Yelan. Should she go or not?

Jun Yelan gestured for her to leave.

Lan Yan nodded, forcefully pushed open the door, and stepped out. She even turned her head to shout, “If you don’t admit your mistakes, I won’t see you again!” She let out a cold snort and left.

Du Yin, standing outside the door, had a smile in his eyes, but something felt off. Why did these two sound like a couple arguing? However, he didn’t think much of it and quickly chased after her, intending to comfort Lan Yan.

But Lan Yan, realizing she was being followed, had already slipped through another door and entered Lan Ya’s room. She was sleeping with Lan Ya tonight to make the act more convincing.

Du Yin couldn’t find her, so he returned to his own room. The next morning, as he left the manor, he overheard the maids discussing the previous night’s events, mentioning that Lan Yan had not yet paid attention to Jun Yelan today.

He went to Lan Yan’s residence and indeed did not see the two of them together, a smugness instantly flashing in his eyes. He returned and saw several boxes had been added to the courtyard.

The maid at the door even smiled and said, “Young Master Du, congratulations! These were all personally selected for you by the young lady. Among all of us in the manor, only you receive such treatment.”

“Yes, Young Master Du, if you prosper in the future, please don’t forget us! If you need anything, just tell us. We will definitely help you.”

Hearing these words, Du Yin’s smugness deepened. He anticipated that this mission would be completed soon. He smiled and said, “It’s nothing.” After that, he returned directly to his room, intending to leave the manor and report to his master.

After he left, the maids dispersed and walked to the adjacent courtyard, bowing respectfully, saying, “Eldest Young Lady.”

“You all did well. There will be rewards for everyone.” Lan Yan looked at Chun Tao, instructing her to distribute the silver.

The maids, having received the silver, left happily.

Lan Yan then turned her gaze to Du Yin’s courtyard and smiled, saying, “He will make a move tonight. Go and inform Jun Yelan that I am waiting for him here. We’ll go catch him together.”

“Yes, Miss.” Chun Tao retreated.

A short while later, Jun Yelan arrived and sat beside Lan Yan.

They sat for an hour. Seeing Du Yin sneakily leave, they got up and followed.

Du Yin exited through the back door, glancing back cautiously. Seeing no one, he confidently departed.

After he left, the two behind him emerged. Lan Yan smiled and said, “Let’s go.”

Du Yin made his way through winding paths, arriving at a forest outside the city. He pushed open the door of a small house and entered. He called out to the person with his back to him, “Master!”

The person turned around, sitting lazily on a chair, turning a ring on his finger. His face was noble, with a sinister aura emanating from his eyes and the corners of his mouth. He said, “You’re back.”

Du Yin lowered his head and respectfully replied, “Your subordinate has successfully infiltrated the Lan Manor and created a rift between them. Given Miss Lan’s temperament, Jun Yelan will soon be expelled from the manor, and then we can take over.”

“If it weren’t for General Lan, I wouldn’t have any reservations about the Lan Manor. If trouble arises in the human realm, and the one above me finds out, he will only place more importance on Jun Yelan.”

“Jun Yelan cannot be left alive!” the person on the chair clenched his ring, leaving a red imprint on his finger. “You’ve done well with this matter.”

Du Yin smiled and said, “Your subordinate has been hidden in the marketplace, searching for the person using a portrait. It was then that your subordinate saw Jun Yelan, and through Liu Tingting, learned of Miss Lan’s personality, which led to this scheme.”

“Please rest assured, Master. Your subordinate will definitely complete the mission. When that time comes, no one will be able to hinder your great undertaking!”

The person on the chair curled his lips, his eyes growing more pleased.

At this moment, outside the door, Lan Yan and Jun Yelan heard everything clearly. She thought to herself, “So, the mastermind is a noble from the Snake Tribe, and someone who wants to kill Jun Yelan.”

“If the mission is to be completed, this person must be eliminated, otherwise, he will always be a threat to Jun Yelan.” Earlier, she had heard about General Lan, who was the father of the original owner.

It seemed that after she returned, she would have to start with this father and find a way to protect Jun Yelan.

Beside her, Jun Yelan clenched his fist, his eyes churning with a surging murderous intent. On the battlefield years ago, it was because of this person that his martial arts were crippled, he was thrown off a cliff, and reduced to slavery.

This hatred, he was determined to avenge in this lifetime.

However, there were other people arranged in this courtyard. Someone shouted, “Who’s there?”

Lan Yan muttered, “Oh no, we’ve been discovered.” She looked at Jun Yelan, contemplating how they could escape.

The person inside the door heard the commotion and glared at Du Yin, shouting, “Useless! Someone followed you, and you didn’t even know! Since we’ve been discovered, kill Jun Yelan now and cut off the roots.”

“What about Miss Lan?”

“Naturally, kill her too. And disguise it as Jun Yelan killing her.”

“Yes, Master.” Du Yin went out, looking coldly at Lan Yan and the others. “I didn’t expect you to know something was wrong long ago.”

Lan Yan smiled and said, “Of course. Do you think everyone is as stupid as you are!” Seeing the anger in Du Yin’s eyes, she couldn’t be bothered. She took the whip from her waist and looked at the surrounding black-clothed men, realizing she couldn’t risk their lives here with Jun Yelan.

Jun Yelan had already drawn out his thin threads. He killed one for every one he caught. His green robe was already stained red, and his fingers were covered in blood. He glared at the person inside the door with hatred.

He turned to look at Lan Yan. Today was not the right time for revenge. He put his arm around Lan Yan’s shoulder and said in a low voice, “I’ll take you away.”

He usually didn’t care about anyone on the battlefield, but this time, he didn’t want to leave Lan Yan behind. His legs transformed into a snake’s tail, which he powerfully whipped at the surrounding men, sending them to the ground.

Then, he took Lan Yan and fled the courtyard, running through the woods.

The men in the courtyard who had fallen got up, but they were too severely injured to track them. Du Yin was furious and had no choice but to go in and report, only to be beaten and thrown out.

In the woods, Lan Yan saw Jun Yelan’s pale face in the moonlight and asked worriedly, “How are you?”

Jun Yelan shook his head, supported himself on a nearby tree, and suddenly vomited a mouthful of blood. His martial arts were crippled, and he had already given his all. Now, he was done for.

“Jun Yelan!” Lan Yan anxiously held him, shouting, “You can’t die!”

However, Jun Yelan was on the verge of fainting and could not answer her.

She looked at the sky, where thunder was already rumbling. She draped one of Jun Yelan’s arms over her neck and gritted her teeth as she walked forward.
