Chapter 232 Burning the Corpse

Ju Lanlan entered the house and plopped down on a chair with a swagger. Perhaps because of the heat, she was wearing a very short peach-pink skirt. As she sat down, she patted her thighs, and with a series of pops, the flesh of her legs quivered.

"Oh, I've gotten fat again. Why can't I lose weight?" she frowned, then looked up at Jiang Ye, smiling and revealing her white teeth. "I have an idea, and I came to ask if you think it's feasible."

"Don't lose weight. You look great just as you are. You won't be as pretty if you get any thinner." Jiang Ye stared at her legs without any hesitation. "What's your idea?"

"You're going to build a lot of new towns recently, right?"

"That's right. Divided towns. Once they're all built, it will be close to a small city." Jiang Ye was a bit proud. "The first city on this planet is about to rise under my management!"

"Awesome! Magnificent!" Ju Lanlan's eyes sparkled. "Mayor Jiang, I want to contribute to the city's development too!"

"How will you contribute? By donating money?" Jiang Ye asked.

"You could say it's donating money, but not purely donating." Ju Lanlan showed a shrewd smile. "I want to invest money, build some shops and houses within the new town areas first, and then rent them out to the new residents when they arrive."

Jiang Ye understood immediately. Ju Lanlan wanted to be a landlady, a property owner who collects rent with a bunch of keys every day.

"It's not impossible," he thought. "But you can't buy too much. How many buildings are you planning to build?"

"I don't have a lot of money either. I can only come up with eighty million right now, and I want to invest sixty million." Ju Lanlan said. "How can I contact a construction company?"

"A construction company will be here shortly. The leader is a very handsome woman who always wears a suit, named Xu Yan. You can talk to her." Jiang Ye said. "Sixty million isn't a lot. Build if you want to build."

Ju Lanlan's eyes lit up. She jumped up and hugged Jiang Ye, squeezing him tightly twice. "Thank you, thank you!"

Jiang Ye blushed a little. "Alright, I still have things to do. Why don't you head back first?"

"Bye-bye! Mayor Jiang, you're brilliant!" Ju Lanlan didn't linger, leaving happily. With just a word from Jiang Ye, she could build a large area of housing and collect rent. It would be strange if she wasn't happy.

Jiang Ye sat down and continued copying addresses.

He had only copied two when gunfire erupted from the coast.

Within seconds, the gunfire escalated to the intensity of the Russo-Japanese War, with various caliber firearms spitting fire, interspersed with the explosions of mines and rockets.

Jiang Ye immediately dove into the base vehicle's driver's seat and hit the accelerator, heading towards the coast.

Arriving at the fortifications and standing at the firing position, his face immediately paled by a degree.

A vast horde of Shui Gui, obscuring the entire beach, was charging towards the town!

The Shui Gui made a crackling sound as they hit the ground, like heavy rain pouring on a banana grove. It was estimated that three to four thousand Shui Gui had successfully landed, with countless blue whales carrying more Shui Gui docking. The scene was terrifyingly spectacular.

The beached whales were as numerous as rocks, still wriggling with effort. Piercing whale songs echoed, not the leisurely songs of the sea, but the death cries of the dying.

Most of the whales were not hit by bullets because the charging Shui Gui were too dense, blocking almost all the firepower. However, new whales kept crowding from behind, preventing the ones at the front from escaping, forcing them to slowly die on the shore.

Finally, the Shui Gui at the forefront broke through the rain of bullets and reached the edge of the annular pit!

They didn't stop but leaped directly.

The leg muscles of these creatures were incredibly strong, allowing them not only to run fast but also to jump long distances, almost ten meters.

However, the annular pit was thirty meters wide.

The Shui Gui fell into the pit like water pouring out, at an astonishing speed.

Jiang Ye watched hundreds upon hundreds of Shui Gui fall, gasping.

The battle lasted for over half an hour, and finally, there were no standing Shui Gui on the beach.

"Get out of the fortifications!" Jiang Ye shouted. "Set up guns at the edge of the pit!"

Soldiers, carrying their guns, climbed out and moved to the edge of the annular pit.

The scene at the bottom of the pit was astonishing. At least over a thousand Shui Gui were gathered below, restlessly trying to climb up. But the pit walls were completely vertical, and they would fall back down after climbing two meters. Many Shui Gui had visible injuries and limped, possibly having broken their legs when they fell.

Jiang Ye waved his hand. "Everyone fire!" Bullets and shell casings poured down like a waterfall, splattering minced meat. The Shui Gui fell in large swathes like dominoes.

Five minutes later, the bottom of the pit was silent, with only slightly trembling corpses remaining.

Jiang Ye felt a chill of fear. If this deep annular pit hadn't been dug, the fortifications would have been breached by thousands of Shui Gui.

A thousand incredibly fast and strong Shui Gui flooding into the fortifications and the town would have been an uncontainable catastrophe.

Fortunately, with the annular pit, even thousands more wouldn't be a problem. These creatures couldn't build ladders, so they could only wait at the bottom of the pit to be slaughtered, like fish in a barrel.

Now, a new problem arose.

How to deal with the thousands of corpses at the bottom of the pit?

After a brief thought, Jiang Ye returned to the base vehicle and entered the Galactic Mall.

He selected aviation fuel and added it to 100 barrels, then purchased it!

The transaction bay began to flash, with five barrels of fuel popping out with each flash. Soon, Jiang Ye's base vehicle was piled high with fuel barrels.

He directed the soldiers to move the fuel barrels out and pour them directly into the bottom of the pit.

The Shui Gui corpses were coated in a layer of oil. Looking down from the top of the pit, the corpses appeared as segmented pieces, resembling a certain dish after being doused in oil.

Someone handed Jiang Ye a torch, made from a branch wrapped with rags, already lit, its flames flickering.

Seeing that all the fuel barrels were emptied, Jiang Ye directly threw the torch down!

BOOM!

With an explosion-like sound, flames several meters high erupted!

The previously dark pit bottom was instantly illuminated by the raging fire. The sizzling sound soon became clear, the sound of Shui Gui's oil being rendered out as they burned. In the flames, the blackened Shui Gui corpses could be clearly seen shriveling up, shattering one after another, finally turning to ash, like coal burned at the bottom of a furnace.

The fire burned for over ten minutes before gradually extinguishing, releasing a foul black smoke that smelled like burning garbage, very unpleasant.

The corpses at the bottom of the pit had mostly shattered or melted in the high heat, leaving only a negligible pile of black ash.

Jiang Ye nodded. It seemed that burning the corpses was a viable disposal method, as it could sterilize and disinfect, as well as reduce the amount of remains.

The soldiers lowered the suspension bridge, and dozens of soldiers went out with tools to cut up the dead whales on the beach. A dozen observers brought out reconnaissance drones and remotely piloted them into the air to scout the sea. Now, they could observe Shui Gui attacks a few minutes in advance through the drones, making their response less frantic than before.

Jiang Ye drove the base vehicle back home and continued to flip through the account records, copying addresses in his small notebook.

He spent almost the entire day copying, his fingers nearly breaking off.

In the evening, carrying a thick notebook of addresses, he headed to the express center.
