The tribesman shook his head, "They didn't say. Even if something happened, they wouldn't tell me. You should go quickly, the shaman is waiting for you."
"No, the rain is too heavy. I've delivered the message, I'm leaving now!"
Leite nodded, "You go ahead."
The tribesman hurried away.
The sisters, who had overheard the conversation in the cave, exchanged a worried glance.
Shu Yue said with concern, "Sister, I guess the shaman will ask you about your medical skills and the tablet. Your medical skills are easy to explain, but the tablet is difficult!"
Shu Xin frowned, "We'll know when we go and see."
Leite entered with a grim expression, "Xin'er, the matter of the tablet might not be able to be hidden anymore."
Shu Xin shook her head, "It will be revealed sooner or later. But Leite, I won't hand the tablet over to anyone. Can you help me keep it safe?"
Leite looked at her and solemnly promised, "Yes, no one can touch your things, not even Father or the shaman!"
Hearing this, Shu Xin gave a smile, "That's good."
Leite said, "I'll go with you."
"Okay, let's go."
Putting on a rain cloak made of animal hide and wearing a rain hat propped up by thin wooden sticks, Leite flew low with her in the rain.
A minute later, they arrived at the shaman's cave. Leite was drenched, while Shu Xin, apart from her outer rain cloak, was dry.
Yi Yi looked at her strange attire with surprise, but didn't ask much. The shaman, however, asked a few more questions, "Shu Xin, what are you wearing?"
"This is a rain cloak," Shu Xin replied without much explanation.
The shaman nodded, showing little interest in the rain cloak. "Shu Xin, you haven't been in the tribe for long and don't often go out. If it weren't for Chun Hua's childbirth, I wouldn't have known you had medical skills."
"I haven't asked yet, where are you from, and which shaman taught you your medical skills?"
Shu Xin replied, "I'm actually from the Uda tribe, but I got separated from my father and mother when I was young. I was adopted by a pair of wandering beast companions. My medical skills were taught by my adoptive mother. Later, my adoptive father was seriously injured and was dying, so he left me near the Warrior Tribe, and that's how Leite found me."
This was the story they had agreed upon yesterday, and it was the same story she would tell anyone who asked.
The shaman was slightly taken aback, not expecting her life story to be so complicated.
"Then where did your adoptive father and mother go?"
Shu Xin shook her head, "I don't know. I'm just a female, I haven't gone out to look for them."
This was understandable.
Then came the main business. The shaman asked, "What was the bright light you emitted in the tent that night?"
Shu Xin said, "It's something my adoptive mother left for me. It can be used for lighting at night, and only for lighting."
Seeing that they had brought nothing, the shaman knew they hadn't brought the item. "Can you bring it here for me to see?"
Shu Xin showed hesitation, "Yes, Went, go get it. Remember to wrap it well."
Leite looked at her questioningly, as if asking if she would be alright alone.
She nodded slightly, indicating she was fine.
Leite turned to go get the tablet. At this moment, only the three of them were in the shaman's cave.
The shaman sat on the stone bed, while Yi Yi and Shu Xin stood.
The damp rain cloak concealed the scent of blood on her. Female noses were not as sensitive as those of beastmen, otherwise the shaman would have surely questioned her about why she had been bleeding for days.
After Leite left, the cave fell silent, and the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
Shu Xin looked straight ahead at the wall, as if oblivious to their scrutiny.
Yi Yi opened her mouth to say something, but before she could speak, Leite returned with the tablet wrapped in animal hide.
The shaman and her daughter's gazes immediately shifted to the tablet. "Bring it here, let me see!"
Leite carefully handed it over and said, "Be sure to hold it carefully. If it breaks, it's truly broken."
Upon hearing this, the shaman's movements became exceptionally cautious as she unwrapped the animal hide, revealing the large tablet with a white background and a black screen.
The shaman and Yi Yi looked at it with confusion. They had never seen anything like it.
The shaman's aged hand brushed across the screen, and the screen suddenly lit up, startling both of them. The shaman's hand faltered, and she dropped the tablet onto the stone bed.
"Careful!" Leite watched closely.
Fortunately, it landed on the stone bed, so it wasn't affected.
Yi Yi exclaimed, "It lit up!"
Shu Xin felt a bit annoyed. She disliked others touching her things. This was the only time today.
Leite said, "Yes, it lights up."
However, the screen went dark again after only two seconds. No matter how much they touched it, it wouldn't light up again. Yi Yi became anxious, "Why did it go dark again?"
Leite felt a pang of concern for the screen. "Don't be so forceful. It's not used like that. I'll show you."
Saying that, he took the tablet, gently tapped it twice, and directly swiped to the lighting function next to the unlock. The cave was instantly illuminated.
The shaman and her daughter's eyes lit up. Leite said, "This is how it's used."
He used the tablet to demonstrate, shining it around the cave and illuminating everything clearly.
The shaman became excited. This was a good thing!
"Leite, how long can this thing light up?"
Leite replied, "It can't light up for long. It needs sunlight to light up. It's the rainy season now, and without sunlight, it won't light up for long."
Yi Yi's mind raced, "You mean it needs sunlight to light up? And it won't light up without sunlight?"
"..." Shu Xin's eyelids twitched.
Leite, however, said, "Something like that."
After they had looked enough, he turned off the light and returned the tablet to Shu Xin's hand.
He smiled and said, "It can only be used for emergencies at night. It's not needed normally."
The shaman and her daughter were anxious. They had only just touched the item, and now it was being taken away!
The shaman asked, "Leite, what is this thing called?"
Leite casually replied, "It looks like a board, so we call it a tablet."
"..." The mother and daughter exchanged glances, their feelings complicated by such a casual name.
Yi Yi said, "Leite, this tablet is very important. If Mother had a tablet when treating people at night, it would be much easier."
Leite did not deny it, "That's why Xin'er's adoptive mother left such an important item for her."
Shu Xin's lips curved slightly. It was the first time she realized that beastmen could be quite sharp-tongued.
The shaman and her daughter: "..." Leite's reaction today was a bit slow!
Yi Yi hesitated and said, "Leite, the tablet is very important. Sister Shu Xin doesn't usually treat the tribesmen. Why don't you leave it in Mother's cave? If a tribesman gets injured in the future, it will be more convenient for Mother to treat them."
A cold glint flashed in Shu Xin's eyes. They were asking Leite instead of her, the person involved, which clearly showed the attitude of the mother and daughter.
Leite, however, frowned, "I'm afraid that's not possible. This is something Xin'er's mother left for Xin'er, a memento for Xin'er. We all trust your medical skills, Shaman. Whether there's a tablet or not is not important."
