The Trickster King

Chapter 23 Bizarre Murder Case

Xiao Xun pushed open the door in the rain and walked over, gently patting the person's shoulder. "Buddy, why aren't you coming in?"

At this moment, Su Xiang also caught up. The entire street was dim, with only this place lit.

Xiao Xun called out twice, but the person didn't respond.

Su Xiang was about to reach out to touch him. "Did he drink too much?"

Unexpectedly, Xiao Xun jumped as if electrocuted, retreated several steps, grabbed Su Xiang's outstretched arm, and said, "Brother Guan, quickly, call the police!"

Su Xiang was startled by Xiao Xun's expression. "What is it!"

Xiao Xun took out his phone directly. As he was about to call the police, he stopped and said to Brother Guan, "The person at the door is dead..."

Su Xiang, upon hearing that someone had died at the internet café entrance, thought Xiao Xun was joking. But he also felt something was wrong, so he quickly dialed the emergency number, gave the address and situation, and then called the boss.

When the boss answered, he was very angry. "What happened so late at night? Can't it wait until morning? I have a meeting tomorrow."

"Big brother, I'm not joking, someone really died at the internet café entrance."

As soon as Su Xiang finished speaking, the call was immediately hung up by the other party.

A moment later, a police car with flashing lights stopped at the entrance of the internet café.

Four police officers in raincoats got out of the car. The lead officer walked in, saluted the two, and showed them his badge. "Which of you reported the case?"

Su Xiang patted his chest. "It was me!"

"When did you discover the deceased?"

Su Xiang looked at Xiao Xun. Xiao Xun thought for a moment. "Around four o'clock! Because we both had a little to drink, we fell asleep. When we woke up, we saw someone squatting at the door. I thought, in this rainy weather, why aren't they coming in? So, out of kindness, I went to call him. I didn't expect that just by looking, this person was already dead. By the way, the internet café has surveillance. You can check the footage."

The police officer pointed at the camera. "Your internet café's surveillance is connected to ours. We already have people retrieving the footage. You just need to cooperate with me and tell me what you know."

Su Xiang quickly said, "We will cooperate, of course, we will cooperate."

The police officer continued to ask, "Which of you is the boss of the internet café?"

Su Xiang took out his phone. "I've already called our boss. He should be on his way by now."

"Besides discovering the deceased, did you find anyone suspicious?"

Both of them shook their heads. Su Xiang pointed outside. "It's raining too hard. If it weren't for the lightning, I wouldn't have even noticed someone squatting at the door."

The police officer looked at Xiao Xun. "What happened to the injury on your arm?"

"I fell and injured it a few days ago. I was treated at the central hospital, and there are records."

At this moment, another police officer walked in carrying a evidence bag. Inside the bag was a bloody dagger. Judging by its design, it didn't seem like the kind that could be bought on the market.

The officer who entered later said to the officer who was questioning them, "Master, this might be the murder weapon."

The officer took the bag and dangled it in front of Su Xiang and Xiao Xun. "Do you recognize this knife?"

Both of them shook their heads again, indicating they had never seen it before.

During this time, the执法记录仪 (law enforcement recorders) of the two officers were pointed at Xiao Xun and Su Xiang, and their expressions were serious, as if trying to find any clues from their words and expressions.

A moment later, an ambulance arrived. Several stretcher bearers placed the deceased on a stretcher and sent him to the ambulance.

The two police officers outside also came in. "The rain is too heavy, and the scene has been disturbed. However, based on what we know so far, the deceased was stabbed by the killer and walked to the entrance of the internet café himself."

The police officer who was questioning them nodded. "This is the only place lit up on this street. He must have come here for help. You should go back to the station and check the nearby surveillance for any suspicious individuals."

Then he looked at Su Xiang. "How much longer do you think your boss will be?"

Su Xiang took out his phone. "I'll hurry him up!"

The police officer held out his hand. "No need. It's raining so heavily, and the roads are not good. You two come with me to the station to give a statement!"

Su Xiang said upon hearing about giving a statement, "Then let's wait for the boss. If we leave, there'll be no one at the internet café, and it's hard to explain."

Just then, an SUV stopped behind the police car, and a man in his forties got out from the passenger seat.

He drunkenly pushed open the door of the internet café, looked at the two police officers, and his originally gloomy face immediately broke into a smile. "I am the boss of this internet café. What happened?"

The police officer said to him, "There was a stabbing case at your internet café entrance. So, please have your internet café attendant come back with us to give a statement."

The boss nodded and patted the police officer's arm. "We'll cooperate, definitely cooperate!"

Then he turned to Su Xiang and pointed at him. "Xiao Su, follow the officers back to the police station later. Tell them everything you know and face the consequences."

Su Xiang was speechless, and the police officer almost couldn't hold back his laughter. He quickly explained to the boss, "He just discovered the deceased. He's a witness."

The internet café boss sat down on a chair. Fortunately, the chair was of good quality, otherwise, with his strength, he would have almost fallen.

It seemed he was indeed quite drunk. After parking the car, the designated driver brought the keys in, handed them to the boss, and then left this troublesome place.

Since he had the boss's permission, Su Xiang and Xiao Xun followed the police officers back.

When they came out after giving their statements, it was already dawn.

Su Xiang suggested Xiao Xun get some breakfast. Xiao Xun said he was afraid of being late for work and wanted to go back to the internet café to get his things first.

As soon as the two of them reached the entrance of the internet café, they heard loud snoring from inside.

Upon entering, they found that the boss, at some point, had collapsed on the table, completely undressed.

Su Xiang quickly picked up the boss's clothes from the floor, covered him with them, and shook him awake. "Big brother, wake up, don't sleep."

The boss groggily opened his eyes, saw Su Xiang, and suddenly became energetic. He looked around, then looked at himself.

"What happened to me?"

Su Xiang explained what happened last night. The boss broke out in a cold sweat. "Last night, I didn't drive myself here, did I?"

"No, a designated driver brought me."

"Then there were no customers at the internet café last night, right?"

Su Xiang nodded. Only then did the boss feel relieved. If guests had seen this and posted it online, he would have become famous.

After putting on his clothes, he looked at Xiao Xun. "And who is this?"

Su Xiang introduced him to the boss. "This is my friend, and a regular customer of our internet café. We've known each other for many years. He came to play last night and coincidentally encountered this incident."

Xiao Xun took his luggage from the counter. "Then if there's nothing else, I'll be going. I'm about to be late for work."

Su Xiang nodded. "Be careful on your way. Keep in touch if anything comes up."

The boss extended his hand. "Hold on."

Upon hearing "Hold on," Su Xiang and Xiao Xun were both stunned and looked at the internet café boss behind them, wondering what he intended to do.

"Where do you work?"

Xiao Xun didn't want to mention the company name, so he said, "In the Financial Center in the West District."

The boss took out his car keys. "Do you have a driver's license? Can you drive?"

Xiao Xun answered truthfully, "I'm okay with automatic transmission, but manual transmission is a bit tricky."
