The Trickster King

Chapter 124 Witty Response at the Western Restaurant

Xiao Xun looked down at the gift and suddenly realized, "You reminding me, I almost forgot. I wanted to invite my cousin to dinner, and give her this gift."

Mu Jiahe casually crossed her left leg over her right. "Then let's invite her to the LS Shopping Center. How about that Western restaurant we went to the other day?"

Xiao Xun looked embarrassed. "President Mu, you mean? You want to go too?"

"It's not like we haven't seen each other before. What secrets are you two sharing that you need to hide from me?"

As she spoke, she put on the silver high heels Xiao Xun had given her. They fit quite well.

Xiao Xun quickly waved his hands. "No, that's not what I meant. We'll do as President Mu says."

After speaking, he took out his phone and sent the location of the shopping center to his cousin, Liu Shijia.

Just as he was about to release the brake and step on the accelerator, Mu Jiahe in the back seat placed her right foot, clad in the silver high heels, on her left leg, tilting it slightly. The high heel was precariously balanced on Mu Jiahe's toes, as if it might fall off at any moment. "Do they look good?"

Xiao Xun glanced back, swallowed hard, and felt his throat tighten, as if he had drunk 'He Ding Hong' (a poisonous substance). After a while, he managed to squeeze out two words, "They look good."

Mu Jiahe let out a silvery laugh. "I'm just teasing you. Drive quickly!"

Now Xiao Xun was worth over a hundred million, a bona fide rich man in any country. Yet, in front of Mu Jiahe, he still felt like a 'subordinate'.

The car arrived at the shopping center and parked. Xiao Xun got out first, then extended his hand, gentlemanly helping Mu Jiahe out of the car.

Mu Jiahe naturally slipped her hand into Xiao Xun's arm, lightly grasping his sleeve.

Xiao Xun, blushing, dared not walk too fast or too slow.

Upon arriving at the restaurant entrance, Xiao Xun's cousin, Liu Shijia, was standing there, engrossed in her phone.

"Cousin!"

Xiao Xun called out. The two beautiful women met and simultaneously extended their hands, saying, "Hello."

Xiao Xun smiled. "Let me introduce you."

"No need, we've met."

They both spoke in unison and then covered their mouths, laughing.

Mu Jiahe lowered her hand, her expression returning to its original state. "No need for pleasantries, let's go in!"

His cousin walked behind Xiao Xun and pinched his 'soft flesh'.

Xiao Xun was caught off guard. He hadn't expected that after so long, his cousin would still remember how to tease him.

The sudden pain made him cry out, attracting attention, especially in a Western restaurant where table manners were highly valued.

Loud noises and horseplay were strictly forbidden, and even the melodious music came to a halt with Xiao Xun's cry.

Xiao Xun covered his mouth, glanced back at his cousin, whose face had turned red with embarrassment, and quickly turned to a bald, Mediterranean man at the table closest to the entrance. In fluent Western language, he said, "I'm so sorry, excuse me. I thought you were that most famous world-renowned tenor, my idol."

Then, he looked at everyone, bowed slightly, and said, "My apologies, everyone. I was too excited and couldn't help myself. I admire that idol so much."

The big man stood up, showing understanding, and embraced Xiao Xun. "I can understand you. Many people say I resemble a tenor, and meeting my idol made me even more excited than you!"

Xiao Xun quickly took out his phone and asked the restaurant waiter to take a photo of the two of them in a friendly embrace.

Mu Jiahe turned to look at the embarrassed Liu Shijia. "Has his brain always worked this fast since he was little?"

Liu Shijia blushed and lowered her head. "I'm not sure."

The foreign gentleman not only chatted amicably with Xiao Xun for a while but also had the waiter give Xiao Xun a gold membership card for the restaurant.

It turned out that this foreign gentleman not only had a great passion for opera, especially tenors, but most importantly, he was the owner of the restaurant.

Xiao Xun didn't know any opera singers and had just stumbled upon this situation by chance.

Mu Jiahe smiled and said to Xiao Xun, "You really can make friends anywhere."

Xiao Xun's scalp tingled. He almost couldn't salvage the situation. "Stop it! What do I know about Western opera? I just went along with him, talking nonsense. If I had said a few more words, I would have been exposed. It forced me to revert to my local dialect. In the end, I could only keep saying 'yes, yes' until I escaped."

Liu Shijia coughed and kicked Xiao Xun's mouth, signaling him to shut up.

Xiao Xun then noticed the waiter standing nearby for a while. Feeling awkward, he put on a stern face. "I didn't say anything, you didn't hear anything. I'll give you a tip later."

The waiter bowed with a smile. "Of course, sir."

After ordering the main courses and desserts, Xiao Xun took out the bag he was giving to Liu Shijia. "Cousin, this is for you."

Liu Shijia looked at the brand and the quality of the bag. "The sun must have risen from the west for me to receive a gift from you in my lifetime, and to be invited to such a high-end Western restaurant. Could it be that 'the drinker's intention is not the wine'?"

Xiao Xun's expression was serious. "Look at what you're saying. Your cousin has earned money and is buying you a gift to show his concern. Isn't that normal?"

Seeing Liu Shijia's suspicious gaze, Xiao Xun suddenly smiled. "If you insist there's something, then I do have a small matter where I could use your help."

"I knew it. This meal can't be that delicious, and the gifts can't be that easy to accept. You should tell me first," she said, pushing the bag back.

Xiao Xun picked up the bag and placed it on Liu Shijia's lap. "Whether you want to or not, this gift is for you, no doubt about it."

"What is it, with all this mystery?"

Xiao Xun rubbed his hands together. "It's actually not a big deal. I'm planning to start a gaming company, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in the position of Financial Director. Come help your younger cousin."

If these words had been said half a month ago, Liu Shijia would have agreed without hesitation. But now, she became hesitant.

Seeing Liu Shijia's reaction, Xiao Xun asked, "Is there any difficulty? It's okay, President Mu isn't an outsider. Tell me your concerns. If I can help, I definitely will. As for compensation, I'll hire you at the salary of a Financial Director at your current company. How about that?"

Liu Shijia thought for a moment and then shook her head. "In that case, it would be more practical for you to poach our Financial Director directly. It's not very convenient for relatives to work in the same company."

Xiao Xun pleaded, his tone almost desperate. "Cousin, can't you help your younger cousin? I really can't manage without you. I don't trust anyone else."

Liu Shijia still shook her head. "It's not that I don't want to help you, but I really can't leave. How about this, you can ask me about financial matters anytime, and I'll tell you everything I know. If you need someone, I'll help you find a way. Okay?"

Mu Jiahe saw Liu Shijia's predicament and said to Xiao Xun, "Don't make things difficult for your cousin. Since she's unwilling, then forget it. From the parent company's finance department, pick whoever you like, how about that?"

Xiao Xun showed a look of disdain. He now had reservations about most people at Saint Roman, except for Mu Jiahe.

Just as the dishes arrived, Xiao Xun said, "Let's eat! We'll drop this matter here!"

Seeing that Xiao Xun had said so, the three of them stopped talking about it.

They didn't drink this time. After the meal, Xiao Xun drove Liu Shijia back to her new residence, which was much closer to her workplace.

"Cousin, this place probably has a high rent, right?"
