The Trickster King

Chapter 413 Aunt Qin

Later, Xiao Xun and Mr. Mi were chatting over a meal about ecological fields. They discussed how his phone not only needed to highlight cost-effectiveness but, more importantly, how its applications should be so indispensable that users couldn't live without them, ensuring they would only switch to his phones in the future.

In essence, it was the same model as Xingtu phones, but with their current strength, they couldn't develop their own underlying systems and compatible chips, relying entirely on other manufacturers.

However, besides phone applications, Mr. Mi planned to venture into smart home appliances, tying them to the brand to build a brand ecosystem.

Xiao Xun highly agreed with his thinking, which was why Mr. Mi had become wealthy and financially independent so early; his vision and mindset were indeed superior to ordinary people.

Technically, Mr. Mi's capabilities were very strong. It was just that technology had advanced rapidly, and he had fallen a bit behind the times. But then again, he didn't need to keep up. With a team under him, he only needed to state what he wanted, and the rest was up to his subordinates.

Mu Jiahe had bypassed even this step, directly enjoying life and only looking at the company's financial reports.

About an hour later, Secretary Fan, dressed in a professional suit, slowly descended the stairs from the bedroom. She had swapped her glasses for a pair of gold-rimmed ones and wore black stockings with white bunny slippers. Her light makeup gave her an air of cold elegance.

Xiao Xun stood up subconsciously upon seeing Secretary Fan and asked, "Can we go now?"

Secretary Fan leaned on the railing and replied, "Of course. You must be eager to leave!"

Xiao Xun gestured outside and said, "It's snowing heavily today. Dress warmly so you don't catch a cold."

Secretary Fan smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Xiao." She put on a long white down jacket and walked out with Xiao Xun.

After they left the house, Secretary Fan asked Xiao Xun where they were going. Xiao Xun thought for a moment and said, "There's someone I want to meet."

Afterward, they each got into their own cars and drove off in different directions. In reality, Xiao Xun didn't want to see anyone; he was just afraid of making things awkward by getting too close to Secretary Fan.

He drove aimlessly. The road maintenance crew was spreading salt on the streets to prevent vehicles from skidding.

Xiao Xun felt truly bored. Sometimes he didn't even want to return to this world. Although it was a bustling, glamorous place, there was nothing and no one he cared about here.

After wandering around aimlessly, he saw that it was almost noon and drove back to the villa complex.

As soon as he entered, Xiao Xun saw Mu Jiahe happily eating at the dining table. He curiously asked, "Who made this meal?"

At that moment, a middle-aged woman emerged from the kitchen. "The master is back. Please wash your hands and have dinner!"

Xiao Xun found her face familiar but couldn't recall where he had seen her before.

"Who are you?"

The middle-aged woman wiped her hands and said kindly, "I used to be the housekeeper at the villa next door."

Xiao Xun suddenly remembered. Yun Mei had mysteriously disappeared within the blind spot of the surveillance cameras of the villa where this woman had worked. If the police hadn't investigated for so long, Xiao Xun would have suspected her involvement in Yun Mei's disappearance.

"Then how did you...?"

Mu Jiahe turned to Xiao Xun and said, "I invited her here."

The middle-aged woman explained, "Yes, my former employers have settled abroad and are not returning. Then, with that incident happening, they entrusted a friend to sell the villa. Naturally, I lost my job. I thought I'd try my luck here, and Ms. Mu took me in."

Xiao Xun thought there was no problem with the middle-aged woman's explanation. It was almost Chinese New Year, and it was indeed necessary to have someone here.

"Ms. Mu has explained the rules to you?"

The middle-aged woman nodded. "Yes, she has. I'm not allowed on the second floor, and I promise I won't go up."

"I still don't know your name?"

The middle-aged woman said with a smile, "My name is Qin Yongmei. You can call me Aunt Qin or Sister Mei."

Xiao Xun nodded. "Then I'll call you Sister Mei from now on."

Suddenly, Xiao Xun remembered something. "I remember you have a daughter, right?"

Sister Mei called out towards a room on the first floor, "Xiaoxue, come out quickly."

The lively young girl opened the door. "Mom, you called me."

Xiao Xun took a step back subconsciously, seeing her holding that Totoro doll. "Is this your daughter!"

Sister Mei frowned at the young girl and said, "Have some manners, come and greet the gentleman."

The young girl walked over, bowed to Xiao Xun, and said, "Hello, Uncle!"

Xiao Xun gave a forced smile that looked worse than crying. "Just call me brother; I'm not even thirty yet."

The young girl sweetly called out, "Brother."

Xiao Xun grunted and asked, "What's your name?"

"My name is Qin Shuangxue."

At this point, Mu Jiahe became displeased. "Stop asking questions and come try Sister Mei's cooking."

Xiao Xun walked over sheepishly. Mu Jiahe picked up some food and put it into his mouth. "Is it delicious?"

He nodded and smiled without speaking.

After the meal, there was still some time left. Xiao Xun asked Sister Mei, "Is your daughter attending school now?"

"Yes, she's in her first year this year."

Xiao Xun curiously asked, "But it's not winter break yet. Why isn't she at school?"

"Today is Sunday. She just came to help me move some things. She'll be leaving first thing tomorrow morning."

Xiao Xun agreed. "Then I'll give her a ride tomorrow! It's on my way."

Sister Mei quickly declined, "How can that be?"

"There's nothing wrong with it. Since you're here, let's not be too distant. It's a small favor."

"Thank you very much, Mr. Lu."

"Don't call me Mr. Lu all the time. This isn't the Republic of China era. Just call me Tian Qi."

Sister Mei said, flattered, "That won't do."

"There's nothing that won't do. That's how you'll call me." Xiao Xun returned to the bedroom. Mu Jiahe was lying on the bed, looking at her phone and chuckling occasionally.

"What's so funny? Share it with me!"

Mu Jiahe snorted, rolled over, and ignored him.

Xiao Xun didn't know why Mu Jiahe was upset. He went into the bathroom. As soon as he sat on the toilet, he saw a blood-stained sanitary napkin.

"This..."

Xiao Xun wasn't ignorant. He had even bought such private items for his cousin before, so he naturally knew what this meant.

It meant that Mu Jiahe was not pregnant at all, and Yun Mei's judgment before her death was mistaken.

Thinking of this, Xiao Xun quickly finished his business and went to Mu Jiahe's side.

Mu Jiahe was still looking at her phone. Xiao Xun gently put his arm around her.

"What are you doing!"

"Nothing! I just want to hold you quietly."

Mu Jiahe frowned. "I'm telling you, don't provoke me. I'm in a bad mood lately."

"Understood, understood."

When they returned to the other world, Xiao Xun felt a chill and hugged Mu Jiahe tighter.

Mu Jiahe felt that Xiao Xun was a bit different. She turned over and pulled him into her arms. "Do you have something on your mind?"

Xiao Xun grunted. "I always thought you were pregnant."

Mu Jiahe was greatly surprised. "Pregnant? How is that possible? I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, and besides, I got my period."

"Yes, that's what I saw that made me realize it."

Mu Jiahe asked again, "Who told you I was pregnant?"
