The Trickster King

Chapter 474 Aerial Combat

As the magic soldiers of the Unflinching Vanguard unleashed flames, he displayed an uncharacteristic agility. With a leap, he managed to jump over them!

His body, weighing nearly ten tons, crashed to the ground with a sound no less deafening than an artillery shell. As this colossal form landed, countless soldiers felt a surge of despair.

“Heavens, how can we fight this?!”

This monstrous demon stood five meters tall, its tail making it nearly ten meters long. Its cold, gleaming double axes were an unstoppable force, and its armor, forged from Evil Iron, was impervious to any piercing attack!

They could envision the scene of this creature charging into their ranks, slaughtering indiscriminately!

All tanks were deployed, only to be flattened into steel plates by Rixilel’s War Stomps. Blood seeped from the gaps in the metal.

Vincent raised his cross sword and strode towards Rixilel.

Meanwhile, Rixilel’s eyelids twitched as he saw someone approaching him with firm steps.

Then, he let out a wild laugh, raised his double axes, and charged at Vincent with all four hooves. The spearhead reflected a brilliant light, aimed directly at Vincent’s head and plunging down!

However, the move failed. Vincent, reacting in advance, dodged to the side. This attack completely missed!

“Demon, you shall be judged by the Holy Light!”

Vincent raised his cross sword, a dazzling holy light converging at its tip. Then, the sword clashed fiercely with Rixilel, the force traveling up his arm. Given the immense disparity in size, almost anyone would have expected Vincent to be cleaved in two. But reality often defied expectations; he actually blocked the blow!

The King of Dread, observing from behind, narrowed his eyes.

“Xidav, send your men to help him. Those Paladins are troublesome. If we continue to be entangled with them, we won’t make any progress even after a day and a night!”

“Yes, Master!” Xidav responded, then tilted his head back and shouted, “All Prison Hunters, listen to my command! Fly over and disrupt their formation from above!”

“Yes, Sir!”

The air force commander had been waiting for them. “All pilots, listen up. They’re back. Let’s go, it’s time for revenge!”

Having suffered losses the previous day, the air force commander, upon seeing the demons, felt a burning hatred. Without a word, he piloted his aircraft into the fray.

The fifty-five anti-aircraft guns on the defense line also aimed at the sky behind them. With a synchronized barrage, the demons were riddled with holes!

Although Vincent was no longer commanding, after several engagements, they had gained ample experience in achieving maximum results. They faced the demons with no sense of panic!

On the other side, Xiao Xun and Bai Yang’s group had successfully bypassed to the rear. Ahead, the colossal figure of the King of Dread loomed, his immense presence causing every member of the team to tremble.

Looking at the King of Dread, Vincent involuntarily swallowed, murmuring, “My God, we have to fight a monster like this…”

“We have no choice but to fight. If he’s given enough time to cast his spells, this guy could wipe us all out single-handedly,” Xiao Xun sighed, his eyes fixed on the King of Dread, observing his every move. “I’ll monitor him from here. Everyone, be ready. The moment he begins casting, we act!”

“Remember, our primary objective is to delay. With our current strength, it’s impossible to kill him. But if we can hold out for more than a day, until our reinforcements arrive, we will achieve victory in this war!”

The King of Dread, seeing that the situation remained unresolved, felt his anger mounting. “Xidav, what are your men doing? They still can’t break through their blockade!”

Sweat began to form on Xidav’s brow. He forced himself to answer, “Master, please give me a little more time. As long as…”

“We don’t have that much time to waste here. Countless shells are falling on our heads every moment!” the King of Dread interrupted, “I am very dissatisfied with your response, Xidav!”

Xidav, sweating profusely, dared not speak.

“Lich!”

Seeing his fearful demeanor, the King of Dread paused and then called out loudly, “Use your methods to open a breakthrough for the legion!”

Beside him, the Lich, who had been secretly pleased by Xidav’s scolding, turned pale upon hearing this.

At this moment, Xidav’s heart sank. Was the Lich now going to usurp his authority?

Neither of them dared to disobey the King of Dread’s order or voice any objection. Therefore, the Lich could only bow slightly and say, “As you command, Sir!”

The undead power accumulated by the Lich was no longer the main force of their army. After all, Ghouls were no match for Hellhounds, and Abominations couldn’t defeat Infernal Fiends. However, some of them, such as these swift-moving Destroyers, could still play a valuable role on this battlefield.

The King of Dread continued to observe the battlefield, while Xiao Xun and his group waited patiently. Their mission was to keep an eye on the King of Dread. It didn’t matter what kind of troops they deployed or what countermeasures they took; everything was to be left to Vincent.

He trusted that the foremost warrior of Saint Romani could handle it.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Vincent and his allies were indeed in trouble!

Countless Destroyers surged forward, fearlessly pushing through shells and bullets towards the magic fighter jets in the sky. The bodies of these Destroyers were as fragile as paper compared to the demons of the undead army, but unfortunately, due to insufficient range and their smaller size, bullets and shells often struggled to inflict effective damage!

The even more fragile magic helicopters also encountered this disaster. The pilots inside didn’t even have a chance to bail out before being torn to shreds by the Destroyers!

“Vincent, think of a solution quickly! If this continues, our air force will be wiped out!”

Vincent knew that the air force was part of the Phoenix Army’s combat sequence and was Xiao Xun’s prized possession, something that absolutely could not be lost.

So, he decisively ordered all long-range units, including all the magic archers, to attack upwards, creating an effective anti-air net on the plains.

The air force, having gained temporary respite, began to counterattack. With the help of the ground troops, the magic fighter jets became more proficient, and the aerial battle was once again pushed back!

At the front lines, Vincent was still locked in combat with the massive Rixilel. This Paladin, not known for his agility, repeatedly managed to dodge Rixilel’s double axes. Even when he couldn’t dodge, he could withstand the opponent’s attacks with Holy Light. Although Rixilel’s furious horizontal swings could claim the lives of a large number of human soldiers, their contribution to the battle was very limited!

The Lich frowned. He intended to enter the fray himself, but he dared not take the risk. Even someone as powerful as Rixilel could only tie down one Paladin.

“Useless!”
