A sense of unease, as things spiraled out of his control, enveloped him. He had no idea what the cunning An Mie’s next move would be. The Scourge Legion’s Soul Reaver had been powerful, disdainful of schemes, always relying on brute force. This current adversary, however, had mastered the art of malicious cunning.
That damned fellow, he had been focused on how to kill him on the battlefield, never expecting him to be so cowardly as to flee without showing his face!
Where would he go?
What was his next plan?
These questions suddenly weighed heavily on Xiao Xun, making him feel agitated.
“Your Highness, we are surrounded!”
The pilot’s loud shout pulled Xiao Xun’s attention back. He turned his head, seeing hundreds of undead swarming towards him.
Regardless, eliminating the King of Arrogance was the paramount task now. As long as he wasn’t dead, the Scourge Legion would not disband, and this war would not end.
He looked up towards the enemy’s distant main camp, murmuring in his heart, King of Arrogance, King of Arrogance, An Mie could escape, but you shouldn’t be able to, right?
Hundreds of undead charged forward. Xiao Xun swept his sword, clearing a path, and strode towards the entrance.
An Mie had indeed fled.
He had come to a realization: if even someone as powerful as Soul Reaver could be defeated by Xiao Xun, could he possibly defeat him?
Clearly, that was unlikely.
An Mie had no honor; An Mie only considered pros and cons.
An Mie believed that continuing to fight Xiao Xun here was clearly more disadvantageous than advantageous.
Thus, An Mie slipped away, taking over a dozen necromancers and a crack undead army, heading west, preparing to directly seek out the Demon Legion of the King of Fear according to his plan!
The enemy’s main camp.
Xiao Xun walked with difficulty on the path forged from ice. This was already the extreme edge of the world. The sun hung motionless on the horizon, and snow fell perpetually, season after season. He trudged through the snow, each step sinking, struggling to maintain his balance as he ascended.
Once the imposter replacing An Mie was killed, the outcome of this battle would be beyond doubt. Xiao Xun had committed all available combat power to quickly annihilating the enemies on the ground.
Finally, he handed over command to Vincent, intending to challenge the King of Arrogance to a one-on-one duel and forbade anyone from following.
He stumbled onward. As he reached halfway up the mountain, a group of Destroyers flew in from afar.
The icy path was already very narrow. A slight bump could cause him to lose his balance and fall, but he felt no fear. He raised the Star of Kings, and a faint golden light emanated from him, ready to incinerate the Destroyers in the distance.
But suddenly, a sky-shattering roar echoed through the firmament!
“Roar—!”
Xiao Xun spun around abruptly and saw a colossal frost dragon breaking through the deep snow layer on the ground, soaring into the air in an instant!
He muttered to himself, “Damn it, how could I forget this unit? This must be the King of Arrogance’s final trump card!”
No, why wouldn’t the King of Arrogance let it attack?
Was it to ambush here?
Xiao Xun looked at the swarms of Destroyers and the colossal frost dragon, feeling some pressure.
But it wasn't that bad. Even if he fell, he wouldn’t die; at most, he would lose face in front of his soldiers.
How long could the King of Arrogance hold out, relying on this final air force to defend the advantageous terrain?
It was merely a cornered beast, a futile last stand.
However, what the frost dragon did next exceeded Xiao Xun’s expectations. It flapped its wings towards the group of Destroyers and then exhaled a torrent of icy energy!
In a daze, Xiao Xun seemed to hear the King of Arrogance’s furious roar.
What was going on?
Was there infighting within the Scourge?
The scene before him baffled Xiao Xun. Nevertheless, those Destroyers were definitely not friendly. Even if blocked by the frost dragon, they still flapped their wings and flew towards Xiao Xun!
Xiao Xun raised the Star of Kings, unleashing streaks of crimson light. Any Destroyer that dared to approach him was burned to ashes. He wielded his holy sword, and a golden storm swirled around him. While it couldn't instantly obliterate all enemies, it was enough for self-preservation.
In the distance, the frost dragon continuously spewed dragon’s breath, and its claws were not idle; each strike incapacitated at least one Destroyer. The dragon and Xiao Xun, without a word, worked together with remarkable synergy, like two harvesters, ceaselessly reaping the lives of the Destroyers!
Finally, the last Destroyer was eliminated.
The frost dragon then stopped, landing on the mountain path. Its empty eyes stared at Xiao Xun.
Xiao Xun watched it cautiously, prepared to strike it down the moment it made any move. With his current strength, eliminating a frost dragon was more than enough.
It was just possible he might fall, given that frost dragons were far more powerful than Destroyers.
As Xiao Xun stared, the frost dragon remained restless. It waved its claws for a long time, emitting inarticulate roars, as if urgently trying to convey something.
Xiao Xun watched its actions with bewilderment.
The frost dragon tilted its head, then raised its massive tail. The bone spikes on its tail dug into the adjacent ice surface, and with a grating sound, it carved two large characters onto the ice: Princess of the Dragon Emperor, Frisia!
“Did Per send you?”
The frost dragon nodded. Since most of its body was skeletal, it couldn't speak.
Xiao Xun looked at the frost dragon, and instantly recalled Per’s body, a strange feeling welling up in his heart, almost sickening.
Seeing Xiao Xun making no move, the frost dragon cautiously took a few slow steps towards him, hesitating, as if fearing something.
Xiao Xun snapped back to reality, offering it a friendly smile. He sheathed his sword and waved his hand.
“Come here!”
The frost dragon immediately flew over. Upon reaching Xiao Xun, it lowered its body and brought its head closer, seemingly expecting something.
Xiao Xun stood on tiptoe and reached out to stroke its bony nose.
All he felt was cold bone. After all, it had been dead for ten thousand years; what flesh could possibly remain?
“Can you help me get up?” he sighed, then made the request.
Given his walking speed, reaching the summit would take a considerable amount of time.
Moreover, this was a sloping path covered in ice and snow, not stairs!
If one could take an elevator, who would choose the stairs?
The frost dragon took flight and then positioned itself on the outer side of the mountain path, signaling for him to climb on.
Xiao Xun flipped himself onto its back. The frost dragon then flapped its wings, and its entire body soared towards the peak of the enemy’s main camp.
The biting cold wind brushed against his face, and Xiao Xun felt the chill in his body.
They reached the summit. The King of Arrogance’s throne resembled a piece of natural crystal, somewhat out of place amidst the surrounding ice and snow, yet magnificent. It was more beautifully modeled than any game Xiao Xun had ever played. If only he had sunglasses, he would have truly wanted to capture it.
Xiao Xun dismounted from the frost dragon’s back, took out the Star of Kings, and strode towards the King of Arrogance.
