Wu Xing’s eyes flashed with shock as he was wounded.
But that shock quickly turned into bloodlust.
He reached out, gently wiping the blood from his cheek, his expression becoming even more ferocious. “No wonder you rose so quickly in the Shadow Division; so you can also channel energy.”
Channeling energy was the ability to break through physical limits, something he had only achieved at forty. Shen Mingxun, not yet thirty, could already do it, truly a promising talent worth nurturing. No wonder people said he had someone backing him.
If it weren't for today’s confrontation, he would have gladly befriended him.
Unfortunately, now that they stood on opposite sides, their destinies were irrevocably bound to a life-or-death struggle. He had to die today!
With that thought, he attacked again, his palm carrying a surge of energy. Every move was aimed at ending his opponent’s life.
Shen Mingxun was in agony. Though his face betrayed nothing, his heart cried out: Bai Shen, why aren’t you here yet? I can’t hold on much longer.
The battle raged on, a stalemate. Shen Mingxun fought with growing tenacity. Despite numerous injuries, he stubbornly held his ground.
Anger flared increasingly in Wu Xing’s eyes.
It seemed he had truly underestimated this Shen Mingxun.
As a Senior Commander, he found himself unable to gain any advantage over him, failing to subdue him in over a dozen exchanges.
With this realization, he glanced at a subordinate standing not far away.
The subordinate, understanding his commander’s intent, immediately drew his pistol and fired a shot, hitting Shen Mingxun’s knee.
Shen Mingxun, who was locked in combat with Wu Xing and concentrating intensely, had not anticipated such a sneak attack. The bullet struck his knee squarely, causing blood to gush out.
“Wu Xing, you are despicable.”
Wu Xing smiled, “There is no deceivelessness in war.”
Just then, Wu Xing found an opening and lunged his hand directly towards Shen Mingxun’s face.
With the injury to his knee, Shen Mingxun was too slow to dodge.
At that critical moment, an unknown object flew towards them, hurtling towards the dominant Wu Xing.
Wu Xing, in the midst of his attack, believed he was about to claim Shen Mingxun’s life.
But he hadn't expected such a sudden assault. By the time he felt the need to evade, it was already too late.
The object struck his shoulder with perfect accuracy, and he felt as if he had been hit by a bullet. “Shen Mingxun, how dare you sneak attack me!”
He then looked at the object on the ground. It wasn’t a bullet, as he had initially thought, nor was it a hidden weapon. It was a… lollipop.
The head of the lollipop had struck him. Had it been the stick, it might have embedded itself in his body. Such force was beyond the capability of an ordinary person.
Seeing Wu Xing frozen in place, Shen Mingxun’s face broke into a smug, almost arrogant smile. “Didn’t Commander Wu say that war knows no deception? Why, the official is allowed to set fires, but the common people are not allowed to light lamps? Quite the double standard.”
Bai Shen is finally here! Bai Shen is finally here! Bai Shen is finally here!
His excited heart and trembling hands now translated into defiant arrogance before Wu Xing.
Wu Xing shouted, “Who attacked me!”
A clear, cold voice replied, “I did!”
Wu Xing followed the sound and saw a white Jeep slowly pulling to a stop before them.
He presumed this “hidden weapon” had most likely been thrown from that vehicle.
The interior of the car was dim. Wu Xing, standing in the bright light, couldn’t make out who was inside. However, from the silhouette, he vaguely perceived the person within to be thin and small. To him, the person in the car looked like a chick that could be easily manhandled.
He figured the lollipop must have been launched using some peculiar device.
He sneered towards the Jeep, his expression fierce. “So that’s why you’ve been so defiant today, Shen Mingxun. You found outside help. It matters not. Today, one more will die, and if two come, they will simply die in pairs.”
With that, he subtly moved his fingers. The Shadow Division soldiers standing behind him immediately moved forward, their weapons at the ready as they eyed the distance.
He had decided that after this battle, he would annihilate this entire Shadow Division, leaving no one alive. He would then blame foreign mercenaries, leading everyone to believe that the conflict was caused by their seeking revenge, and he would be the hero who quelled the unrest!
Wu Xing raised his hand, his eyes filled with madness and bloodlust. “Turn that vehicle into a sieve!”
The next second, countless bullets rained down on the Jeep, peppering it with countless holes. In the following moment, someone’s shot struck the fuel tank, and the entire vehicle suddenly exploded.
With a roar, the car was engulfed in flames.
Seeing this, Wu Xing looked at Shen Mingxun with unconcealed triumph. “Commander Shen, you’re next. But don’t feel lonely; your subordinates will soon join you in the afterlife!”
He spoke with extreme pride, but unfortunately… Shen Mingxun looked at him with the expression of someone viewing an idiot.
Before he could react, he suddenly felt a slight chill at his neck. “The Shadow Division has no system of collective punishment. If you die, as long as they do not resist, I will not let your Shadow Division soldiers be buried with you.”
The voice was sharp, cold, and devoid of emotion, yet it sent shivers down Wu Xing’s spine and made cold sweat break out on his forehead.
Shen Mingxun stepped forward with great surprise. “Bai… Young Lady, you’ve finally arrived.”
Bai Xi glanced at him indifferently. “Commander Shen, you still require significant tempering.”
Upon hearing this, the smile on Shen Mingxun’s face froze.
He had heard these words twice before.
The first time, she personally led him through a perilous training, where he honed an extraordinary level of endurance. Even when severely injured, he could achieve a desperate counter-attack, which was why he was able to hold out against Wu Xing earlier.
The second time, she brought him to a training camp she had founded, forcing him to break through his physical limits and enabling him to channel energy.
This was the third time, and he dared not imagine what awaited him, feeling his body tremble!
Great Bai Shen, I want to lie down and rest!
Sun Zhi, seeing Bai Xi appear behind Wu Xing like a ghost, moving without a trace, was slightly stunned. This was especially true when he heard Shen Mingxun address her as “Young Lady Bai.”
He squinted his faded, cloudy eyes to get a good look at Bai Xi, a sarcastic expression appearing on his face. “It’s you! What, you refused to yield to me, and now you’ve hooked up with the Shadow Division?”
That day, when she lay on his bed, it had truly set his heart ablaze.
Alas, she was unappreciative.
He thought she had died, but unexpectedly, she was still alive. Now, she seemed a bit more capable, and apparently had some connection with this Intermediate Commander Shen Mingxun of the Shadow Division.
Indeed, young bitches still cared about men’s stamina.
If she didn’t fancy him, finding someone with good physical conditioning was quite agreeable!
Wu Xing, with a dagger at his throat and sweating profusely, heard Sun Zhi’s words and suddenly realized that the woman behind him was likely Shen Mingxun’s woman.
This woman was formidable, but if she could be used to his advantage: “Woman, I am a Senior Commander of the Shadow Division. Everything Shen Mingxun can give you, I can also give you. Release me, help me kill Shen Mingxun, and I am willing to make you my woman!”
This was offering the woman the highest honor!
