Chapter 130: Inheritance of the Lord of the Stars (Part 4)
When the inheritance was presented before them, everything froze. Then, they spent a long time; finally, they got their reward.
Aiden was the first to recover and ordered in a firm voice.
"Natalia, come with me. Milwar, go tell Max not to let anyone enter the cave."
"Yes, sir!" Milwar quickly left the cave to carry out his master’s orders.
"Darling, let’s go in, but don’t let your guard down. We don’t know what trap he has in store for us." Aiden said as he entered the inheritance of the 5th circle wizard of the Tower of Babel with the title: Lord of the Stars.
Natalia nodded, curious to see what the interior of the inheritance that had been so close to them and had been found by a young man with no backing would be like.
Sometimes fate is a bitch. She couldn’t help thinking.
They entered, and the first thing they encountered was a slight burning smell and a crackling sound as if wood were burning.
They quickened their pace as they didn’t have time to look around. Time was not on their side, and Elizabeth’s life was in danger.
Their shadows moved quickly across the wall made of stars, nebulae, and constellations. It wasn’t long before they were greeted by a cloud of black smoke that obstructed their vision.
Although he frowned, Aiden circulated his mana essence into his magic diagram, converting this energy into magic, and said in a solemn voice.
"[Breeze]"
Swoosh!
A strong breeze swept through the entire place, and the smoke began to concentrate in a single point before turning into a sphere the size of a ball. It was all due to Aiden’s delicate handling of magic.
When the black smoke cleared, the first camera was revealed, reduced to ashes; all the manuals and other items had been consumed by the fire, and as the ventilation was not very good, the damage was extensive.
In short, there was nothing he could salvage from this first camera.
Several veins began to appear on Aiden’s forehead as he looked at the destruction of the place.
"Those... Damn brats! How dare they do this? I don’t give a damn about the Abraham family anymore. Those two will pay with their shit, with my rage!"
Aiden’s calm had long since vanished, and now, watching Kael destroy everything, his rage and hatred only increased to new heights.
"Let’s continue," he said, his eyes flashing with rage.
Natalia simply followed him in silence, not saying a word, as she knew he wouldn’t listen to her, given his state. Above all, her daughter’s life was in danger.
They continued forward, the smell of burning in their noses, down the hallway made of stars and constellations.
After about three minutes, they reached a point where there were three different paths, each leading to a different chamber, and in one of those, they could find Michel, Kael, and Elizabeth, or simply not be lucky enough to find them.
"Let’s take the left path," Natalia suggested after thinking for a moment.
"..." Aiden glanced at her for a few seconds, then looked back at the different paths leading to different rooms.
After a while, he said:
"We’ll take the right path."
"Why? Let’s take the left one," Natalia frowned with slight annoyance.
Aiden sighed deeply. "Honey, now is not the time to start arguing. My daughter’s life is in danger. The more we fight, the more advantage those bastards will have, so let’s take the right path."
"..." Natalia remained silent, as her husband’s words were true. Now was not the time to argue about which path to take.
And without further ado, they set off down the road to the right, not knowing what awaited them.
...
Outside the cave, Max and Milwar looked at the waterfall with tired eyes; the entire area had been secured so that they couldn’t escape.
"So those are Mr. Aiden’s orders," Max muttered with a sigh. He understood his master’s orders because the more people knew about the inheritance, the more their greed would grow.
And this place could become a battlefield with blood everywhere and corpses floating in the beautiful, crystal-clear purple river.
"Mr. Aiden was very angry; I had never seen him like that before," Milwar said with some surprise in his voice, recalling his master’s previous attitude.
"It’s normal, your daughter was kidnapped by two foreigners, and they found an inheritance on your land," Max said dryly, although it wasn’t the first time he had seen his master Aiden like this.
The first time he saw him in that state was when Elizabeth’s mother died. It was not an honorable or quick death, but a humiliating execution at the hands of a member of the great families. The woman’s blood stained the stones, and Elizabeth’s helpless cries echoed in his ears.
Aiden, without hesitation, unleashed a massacre. He wiped out an entire branch of that family, without distinguishing between the guilty and the innocent. Old people, women, children... nothing escaped his fury. The ground was stained red, and his hands were marked by the blood of countless lives.
But the price of revenge was high. They pursued him until he was forced to disappear. He changed his name and bought a title of nobility. He settled on this mountain.
Here he sought to grow strong, feed his resentment, and wait for the right moment to destroy those who had taken away the little he loved.
However, the obsession that sustained him began to mix with another weakness: greed. That greed, hidden in his heart, led him to make reckless decisions.
Max couldn’t help shaking his head as he remembered. It had all started with excruciating pain and pure hatred, but now history was repeating itself with a cruel twist: because of that same greed, the young Lady Elizabeth’s life was hanging by a thread. And she would most likely end up dead, just like her mother.
"Now we just have to wait for news from our masters," said Max, with a long sigh, looking up at the sky where the moon was beginning to show itself again.
"If we just have to wait for our masters and their good news," Milwar nodded in agreement with Max’s words, who had a lost look on his face as he stared at the moon.
...
Kael and Michel, who had chosen the left path, advanced with quick, steady steps. The corridor stretched out before them like an endless tunnel, gradually swallowing the light and enveloping them in an expectant silence.
Then, a sound began to filter into his ears: the distant echo of the Quanzhi. At first, it was just a murmur, a faint vibration that caressed the air. But soon the melody became clearer, so soft and ethereal that it seemed not of this world.
It was as if each note was born from the heavens. Magnificent and sublime, the harmonies descended upon their senses, and for a moment, Kael and Michel had the sensation that their feet were not touching the ground, but rather that they were walking directly on a river of stars.
The music grew louder with every step. What had started as a whisper turned into an enveloping song that filled the entire corridor. The walls themselves seemed to vibrate with the resonance of the Quanzhi, as if the stone remembered the echoes of a forgotten era.
When they finally approached the camera, the melody reached its highest point, a solemn climax that shook the air. And then, as they crossed the threshold, their eyes fell upon a scene that took their breath away.
An impressive sight opened up before them.
The room was empty, the floor seemed to be made of a sea of stars, and in the middle, there was a being playing the Quanzhi with his eyes completely closed, as if he hadn’t noticed Kael and Michel’s presence.
"Stay here. I’ll take care of this."
Kael’s voice was calm. He advanced step by step, and the coin sword appeared in his hands. At the same time, a dense and oppressive aura of blood began to envelop his entire body.
Michel remained silent. It was not the time to interrupt or question. However, his eyes could not hide his curiosity.
It had been a long time since he had last witnessed Kael’s power at the Great Spring Tournament. Now, facing that presence, he wondered how much he had changed, how much that man’s strength had grown.
The atmosphere became strange when Kael stepped firmly onto the ground. Beneath his feet, there was no earth or stone, but a sea of stars.
And at that moment, the ethereal sound of the Quanzhi stopped.
A solemn silence fell over the place.
The humanoid figure, which until then had remained motionless, slowly opened its eyes. They were not ordinary eyes, but entire galaxies swirling around, universes spinning in unfathomable mystery.
Kael watched with mild, almost indifferent interest. He was not impressed by the magnificence of the cosmic vision. Instead, a cold assessment shone in his eyes.
It seemed that the Lord of the Stars had truly taken his time in crafting this magical inheritance.
