Chapter 419: Chapter 283 Dispatch_3
Tie Dan sneered.
"Oh, so what kind of cooperation are you suggesting?"
Zhao Dan thought for a moment,
"Roughly, it would mean forming alliances and taking in disciples. Those who have Immortal Fate, or even their children, can be brought into the Outer Door and turned into Sword Sect’s vassals.
As long as they offer resources to the mountain, sending disciples to assist them and gain some experience in the process is no problem."
Tie Dan nodded repeatedly,
"I see. What a crafty plan. Just in time, the Outer Door disciples are all dead anyway. You can recruit an entirely new batch, and collect another round of offerings—piles upon piles of resources. Perfect, just perfect."
Zhao Dan noticed his tone was off, realizing he’d said too much, and fell silent.
The two continued flying in silence for a while, when suddenly they saw heavy dark clouds gathering ahead, flames roaring into the sky, with thunder rumbling above and demon beasts stampeding below. It seemed someone was engaged in magical combat.
"It doesn’t appear to be someone from our Mystic Sect."
As the sword light paused mid-air, Zhao Dan couldn’t help but glance at Tie Dan,
"True Man, surely we should prioritize our journey."
Tie Dan sneered,
"Why retreat? When Immortal Fate lands right in front of you, what reason is there to avoid it?"
Without paying Zhao Dan any heed, his sword light flashed as he surged right into the tribulation cloud.
Under the roiling cloud, there indeed was someone undergoing a tribulation. Severely injured by Heavenly Thunder, the person had attracted demon beasts, which seized the opportunity for an onslaught. Struggling just to hold on, they were being ambushed by another enemy in hiding and had already been gravely injured, coughing up blood—certain death loomed.
Tie Dan glanced at Zhao Dan,
"Who do we kill?"
Zhao Dan pinched his fingers to calculate,
"That person undergoing the tribulation appears to be a local Mixed Cultivator, while those beast tamers launching sneak attacks are likely Tribute members of the Immortal Palace. By the looks of it, this is a personal grudge between them. If we are to intervene, naturally we should assist the Immortal Palace."
"Heh."
Without further ceremony, a beam of sword light shot up from behind Tie Dan and descended from above, slicing the Immortal Palace Tribute member in two. The sword light then weaved left and right, illuminating its path as it annihilated the group of demons and beasts entirely. At the same time, it severed the tribulating mage at the waist, killing him instantly.
Zhao Dan, "..."
Tie Dan pinched a formula, waved his hand, and a silk ribbon spun like a whirl of clouds, wrapping the pile of corpses and severed heads on the ground and absorbing them into his sleeve.
Zhao Dan’s face shifted,
"The Sleeve Universe!"
Tie Dan didn’t respond, merely rewrapping his sword light and continuing south. Ahead, flashes of lightning and peals of thunder cleared in an instant, revealing a sprawling military encampment stretching for miles below, housing what appeared to be over a thousand soldiers of the rebel army.
Tie Dan said,
"Who do we kill?"
Zhao Dan turned to glare at him,
"True Man, what is the meaning of this?"
"Ha."
Tie Dan unsheathed the silver hairpin from his head and hurled it into the air, raising his palm to strike. With a deafening "boom!" as it collided with a bolt of Hand Palm Thunder, a dazzling streak of Golden Thunderbolt descended, igniting the grand tent in the center of the camp in a sea of fire. The individuals inside were instantly reduced to charred remains.
Without a word, Tie Dan used his Sleeve Universe to once again sweep up the corpses, then vanished with his sword light.
This time, he flew directly to the city walls, where a vast estate stood prominently within the town—a clear sign it was the residence of the local rich family landlords.
Tie Dan glanced at Zhao Dan.
Zhao Dan broke into a cold sweat,
"True Man, don’t act recklessly."
"Hmph."
Tie Dan swung his Jade Brush straight at the ancestral hall of the estate. With a resounding crash, the building trembled as the shrine collapsed. Immediately, several Tribute guards rushed out to investigate, but Tie Dan paid them no mind. Pinching a formula and pointing, he sent his sword light flying, decapitating each of them and storing their heads in his sleeve.
Zhao Dan could no longer hold back, grabbing him by the sleeve,
"True Man, you must not kill indiscriminately in a moment of anger...!"
Tie Dan sneered,
"The fall of Gen Kingdom and the deaths of tens of thousands—what innocence is there in these people living so blissfully?
"While others live in peace and comfort, would they beg for your protection or pay their dues unless fear is struck into their very souls?
"They brought me here especially for this, hiding behind the scenes and using roundabout words to have you tell me this. Isn’t it just to have me carry out this dirty work?
"In the past, it was Master who handled this. Now, it’s fallen to me!
"Don’t worry. The matters of the mountain won’t be delayed! I’ll make sure all their offerings are squeezed out without exception!"
Seeing that Tie Dan was perfectly aware of the situation, Zhao Dan let out a sigh, loosened his grip, and stopped pretending to restrain him.
