Chapter 459: Chapter 461 Preliminary Planning of Power (Part 4)

The bustling city streets were filled with an endless stream of carriages and people.

Mu Ruyue was pondering the words that Xuan Yuan had just said and didn’t notice the beggar who was thrown out of the inn nearby. Just as the beggar was about to fall onto her, an arm reached out and pulled Mu Ruyue into an embrace.

“You filthy beggar, I’ve told you countless times not to defile the grounds of our Fengxiang Restaurant. Next time I see you, I swear I’ll beat you so badly you won’t even recognize your own parents. Such bad luck!”

The waiter glared fiercely at the filthy beggar, flicked the cloth he was using to clean the tables behind him, and without turning his head, strode back into the restaurant.

“Sister, are you all right?” Xiao Feng frowned and his gaze swept over the beggar lying on the ground and wailing.

Mu Ruyue shook her head: “Big brother, how did you get here?”

“I couldn’t stop worrying about you, so I came to check on you.”

Even though Wushan had sent word back that Mu Ruyue would not return within seven days, how could Xiao Feng truly be at ease? During these seven days, he was worried about her every moment.

Mu Ruyue didn’t speak, her gaze fixed on the beggar…

“They’re a bunch of heartless bastards!” The beggar cursed angrily as he rubbed his sore backside. “Back when I was traveling the continent, you damn kids weren’t even born yet. What are you acting so proud for? If I hadn’t been double-crossed by someone, would I have fallen to such a state? I would have flattened you into a meat pie and fed you to the dogs by now! Ouch, it hurts so much. Being without strength, even a fall can almost break my old back. It really is sad not knowing how to respect the elderly…”

The beggar’s face was filled with anger, and underneath his unkempt hair, his face was dirty as if he had not bathed for a long time.

Mu Ruyue’s eyes twinkled, and she smiled as she approached the beggar: “Shall I buy you a meal?”

The beggar was taken aback and lifted his head in disbelief, looking at the stunningly beautiful face before him: “Are you making fun of this old man?”

With a slight twitch of her eyebrows, Mu Ruyue replied with a half-smile, “If you don’t believe me, then forget it. But don’t say I didn’t warn you, if you try to go to this inn again, you’ll just be thrown out once more. Big brother, let’s go.”

After she said this, she turned to leave.

In an instant, the beggar jumped up from the ground, grabbing onto Mu Ruyue’s sleeve and laughing, “Miss, I was just joking. So shall we go now?”

Mu Ruyue smiled slightly: “We might as well not bother going anywhere else and just head to this restaurant.”

The beggar’s eyes lit up; the scent of roasted chicken wafting from the restaurant made his mouth water almost to the point of drooling.

Swallowing hard, the beggar clenched his fists: “Miss, let’s go in.”

Throughout it all, Xiao Feng hadn’t said a word. He knew his sister must have her reasons for acting this way, and perhaps there was something about this beggar that made him worth befriending…

“You filthy beggar, how dare you show up here again?”

Inside the restaurant, the waiter instantly saw the old beggar as he walked in and raised his fists in anger: “Are you going to leave on your own, or do I need to throw you out again? I’ve told you, if you don’t have money, don’t come here to eat. We’re not a charity that provides free meals to beggars.”

The beggar shrank back, quickly ducking behind Mu Ruyue: “I don’t have money, but she does…”

“She?” The waiter scanned Mu Ruyue and scoffed, “Miss, I’d advise you not to be deceived by this beggar. His words are only fit for fooling three-year-olds, how could a smart woman like you believe his nonsense? Perhaps you should…”
