Qin Si’s gaze was grim as he stared at Bai Shengyi’s wounds, his eyes fierce enough to spit fire.
“Chui Ming!”
A colossal Xuanjing Tiger roared from the contract space and surged out. With another earth-shattering bellow, its materialized sound waves rippled outwards.
The potent and mighty force struck Tang Qiao fiercely. Before Tang Qiao could even cry out in pain, her vision flashed, and she found herself teleported a thousand miles away!
“What’s going on?”
Tang Qiao had never imagined she would encounter such a situation. She instinctively struck out with a palm, only to find herself hitting the bustling city street.
“Who dares to cause trouble in Yunxia City? Do you not wish to live?”
The patrolling guards immediately rushed over. Tang Qiao had also regained her composure, a flicker of surprise in her heart. However, she knew this was not the time to clash with Yunxia City’s guards. She turned to leave but was stopped by someone.
“Young Master Yun Seven?”
Yun Buluo, with his youthful face, stated, “Tang Qiao, as one of the principal figures of Yingwu Continent, your causing trouble in Yunxia City—do you wish to ignite a great war between Yunchen Continent and Yingwu Continent?”
Tang Qiao knew she wouldn’t be able to leave easily today and cursed under her breath.
“Young Master Yun Seven misunderstands. I did not mean to. It was merely a slip of my hand.” Tang Qiao lowered her gaze. “Young Master Yun Seven, regarding the property I just damaged, please provide a list from Yunxia City, and I will compensate you for the full price.”
Yun Buluo sneered, “My Yunxia City does not lack this small sum of money.”
“Then what do you want?” Tang Qiao was concerned about Bai Shengyi’s situation and, seeing Yun Buluo’s persistence, her temper flared.
As her tone sharpened, the Yunxia City guards stepped forward again, surrounding her tightly.
On the other side, as Tang Qiao departed, the Gate of the Underworld silently closed and vanished into thin air moments later.
With Qin Si’s intervention and Tang Qiao being moved to another location by him, the skirmish on Bai Shengyi’s side quickly concluded.
“Leave Shi Jiu alive.”
Bai Shengyi spoke.
In fact, even without Bai Shengyi’s instruction, of the cultivators Tang Qiao had brought, only Shi Jiu remained alive. The other had perished under the combined assault of Old Man Zhang and Wen Buting after Old Man Zhang dealt with the puppets.
Qin Si brought Shi Jiu before Bai Shengyi and asked coldly, “What are you keeping him for?”
His tone was not good, yet he couldn’t bring himself to truly get angry at Bai Shengyi, his face contorted as if constipated, both foul and stubborn.
Seeing him like this, Chui Ming let out a disgusted “tsk” and returned to the contract space.
Wen Buting glanced at Qin Si, then at Bai Shengyi, and whispered, “Fellow Daoist Bai, who is this?”
As he looked up, he saw that ‘who’ was scrutinizing him.
The highly penetrating gaze made Wen Buting feel as if he had encountered a Saint Realm cultivator who could see through him completely. Startled, he quickly hid behind Bai Shengyi.
Qin Si’s gaze became even more terrifying.
“Get out!” Qin Si commanded impolitely.
Wen Buting was startled, but having spent so many years in Wangliang City, he was no pushover and certainly not without his temper.
“Kid, how are you speaking to me! Mind your tone!” Wen Buting snorted.
If it weren’t for his perceived close relationship with Fellow Daoist Bai, he wouldn’t be so “polite.”
Qin Si’s phoenix eyes darkened, the corners of his lips pressing down. With a raise of his hand, the ground beneath Wen Buting’s feet suddenly collapsed, creating a large hole that buried him directly.
Bai Shengyi: “...A Si.”
Qin Si looked at her with a hint of grievance, “He was too close to you! And he wasn’t listening to me!”
Bai Shengyi suddenly felt a headache coming on.
“Hee hee hee…” The Reincarnation Brush let out a boisterous laugh. How amusing, Qin Xiao Si was actually capable of jealousy!
Bai Shengyi shoved the Reincarnation Brush deep into her sea of consciousness and took a deep breath before looking up at Qin Si, explaining, “If you didn’t scare him, would he have gotten so close to me?”
She stepped forward, took Qin Si’s hand, turned around, and said to Wen Buting, who was climbing out of the hole, “Fellow Daoist Wen, I apologize. This is my lover. He merely misunderstood you and did not intend any harm.”
Being astute individuals, there was no need for explicit explanations. Wen Buting immediately understood that this ordeal was a complete misfortune.
Of course, it was also partly his own doing.
He had no choice but to sullenly accept—
Oh no, he wasn’t sullen!
Wen Buting cheerfully took the white porcelain bottle from Bai Shengyi’s hand and smiled benevolently, “You’re too kind! Too kind! Fellow Daoist Bai, as long as you clarify with this young brother, it’s fine.”
“Tch!”
Old Man Zhang let out a scoff.
Wen Buting mistook it for jealousy, ignored him, and happily walked aside, holding the white porcelain bottle.
Old Man Zhang’s eyes ached from watching, and he impatiently urged, “Little Bai, are you still going to the passage?”
“What passage?” Qin Si asked.
Bai Shengyi leaned against Qin Si. After swallowing the pill Qin Si offered, she replied, “The passage back to Shenqi. Senior knows how to return, but it requires immense spiritual power to clear the path. I originally planned to do it myself, but now, Shi Jiu’s cultivation should be sufficient.”
“You’ll do it yourself? How?” Qin Si looked at the bloodstains on Bai Shengyi’s body, his eyes deep.
Just then, the Wuji Canghan Sword flashed with light.
Chui Ming exclaimed in shock, “Qin Si, Wuji says that Shengyi’s lifespan is only a thousand years left!”
Bai Shengyi was completely unaware of all this, still answering Qin Si, “Of course, it would be by directly breaking through with a Scarlet Spirit Pill. Although it’s risky, it’s a better method…”
She suddenly sensed a chilling aura around her.
Bai Shengyi looked up and saw Qin Si staring at her intently, his dark pupils seemingly brewing a storm.
“Risky? I think you have no idea what risky is.” Qin Si was truly angry, but he still controlled his temper. The veins on his hand, which gripped Bai Shengyi’s, bulged without hurting her.
He gritted his teeth, “Bai Shengyi, you’re getting bolder and bolder! Tell me, in your eyes, what exactly is not risky? And your lifespan, how did it suddenly become a thousand years?”
After only a few days apart, this person’s lifespan was even shorter than his own.
Qin Si felt a fire burning within his chest.
Bai Shengyi opened her mouth slightly and said in a low voice, “A Si, don’t be angry. I have my limits.”
“Your limit is losing four thousand years of lifespan right after ascending?” Qin Si couldn’t help but raise his voice.
Bai Shengyi frowned tightly. “Then what about you? Why has your lifespan also decreased so much? Don’t you think I can see it? I can see it, but I trust you have your limits, so even though I was very worried, I didn’t question you.”
“So, Qin Si, can you please calm down?”
Bai Shengyi didn’t want to argue with Qin Si. She released his hand, stepped forward, picked up Shi Jiu, and walked to Old Man Zhang’s side.
“Senior, let’s go.”
Old Man Zhang, who had been secretly enjoying the drama, reluctantly patted his sleeves and got up to lead the way.
“Your lover too?” Old Man Zhang pouted, gesturing for Bai Shengyi to look behind her.
In the past moment, Bai Shengyi’s words had caused the atmosphere between the two to become tense.
Qin Si followed the three of them silently, his demeanor cold and sharp, showing no resemblance to a newly ascended cultivator.
Wen Buting had originally been following Old Man Zhang but couldn’t help himself. He inserted himself between Bai Shengyi and Old Man Zhang and asked curiously, “Fellow Daoist Bai, weren’t you two just fine moments ago?”
How was it that in the time it took him to figure out how to hide a pill, the situation had suddenly turned south?
