Chapter 43 Is Calmness the Forgiveness Before Death

The sun was setting as the immortal ship sailed over the mountains, its golden light permeating the corridor and falling upon Bai Murong.

Bai Murong said righteously, "Shengyi, I can't stand by and watch you go astray. You..." she exclaimed!

Bai Shengyi didn't want to listen to her hypocritical words any longer and whipped her with a whip, the sound of "pa" cracking across her face.

"Are you crazy? I'm your sister!" Bai Murong covered her face, looking at Bai Shengyi in disbelief. How dare she!

"My mother only gave birth to me. Who are you?" Bai Shengyi sneered, hooking her lips.

As she spoke, she lashed out with several more whips. This time, she showed no mercy. Although she didn't whip Qin Zhao on the face, every lash hit flesh.

She had long been fed up with Bai Murong's hypocrisy and disliked her constant moral blackmail and veiled insinuations in front of others. Therefore, she had been keeping a detailed record of Bai Murong's transgressions.

Now that Bai Murong was trying to play the same game, Bai Shengyi didn't want to waste any more words and chose to suppress her with force.

"Young lady, don't always try to stage a scene!" Bai Shengyi said unceremoniously.

Bai Murong couldn't dodge and her face contorted in pain. Unable to bear it any longer, she let out a shout and unleashed the spiritual skill taught to her by Duke Rongguo.

"Blooming Moon Falling Flowers!"

Countless spiritual lights converged into blossoming flowers, ethereal and beautiful. The air seemed to be filled with the fragrance of flowers, so warm it made one want to close their eyes and sleep soundly. Yet, the flowers spun like boomerangs, harboring hidden dangers.

"Hypnosis?"

Bai Shengyi chuckled and snapped her fingers. Wood element spiritual energy took root on the ground, and vines pierced through the flowers, directly binding Bai Murong.

The thorns on the green vines showed no restraint, digging deeply into Bai Murong's flesh.

"Ah!" Bai Murong let out a scream.

She looked at Bai Shengyi, who still stood energetic and unharmed, her face contorted. "You were unaffected!"

How could that be!

When did Bai Shengyi become so powerful?

"Are you talking about this floral scent?" Bai Shengyi curved her lips, reached out to grab a flower, and slowly crushed it. "It's just a trivial skill."

In her opinion, the floral scent did have a disorienting effect, but whether it was due to Bai Murong's low strength or her own steadfast willpower, the influence on her was quite limited.

It was less captivating than the temptation of her bed.

Bai Shengyi was merely mocking her truthfully, unaware that a certain word had provoked Bai Murong.

Bai Murong struggled and roared, "Don't look down on me! Bai Shengyi, so what if you can cultivate now? Grandfather still refuses to teach you the Bai family's spiritual skills and chose me instead... Ah!"

The vines binding her suddenly tightened, causing her to cry out in pain.

"Noisy!" Bai Shengyi frowned. "If you say another word, I'll make the thorns dig deeper."

"You're so venomous... Ah!" The stinging pain, as if wishing for death, spread throughout her body. Bai Murong shut her mouth with a scream.

If her eyes could pop out, she would surely want to assassinate Bai Shengyi with them right now.

Bai Shengyi ignored her, tethering her to the corridor. She then squatted beside Sun Wuyi and untied his ropes.

"You can go."

"My lady?" Sun Wuyi trembled. He had tried his best to minimize his presence, so why was he still caught in this?

Looking at Bai Shengyi's calm demeanor, he felt as though this was the leniency before her final strike.

Sun Wuyi suddenly felt annoyed at Bai Murong's presumptuousness. Perhaps if Bai Shengyi had vented her anger, she would have let bygones be bygones. But now...

He always worried that Bai Shengyi was holding back a powerful move.

He had witnessed several instances of the long whip lashing people and truly dared not provoke this smiling, face-slapping woman again.

Bai Shengyi kicked him. "I told you to go, are you reluctant?"

Bai Murong had already released the two people she disliked the most. Why else would she keep Sun Wuyi? It was better to let him go and air out the corridor.

"Yes, yes, I'll leave immediately." Sun Wuyi realized that Bai Shengyi truly intended to let him go and immediately sprang to his feet. "My lady, Rongrong, she..."

"Do you want to be whipped?" Bai Shengyi's face darkened, and she glared at him sternly.

"No, I, Sun the blind, haven't said anything." Sun Wuyi was thoroughly cowed. He quickly crouched down, his toes sticking to the corridor railing, and left as if fleeing, not even looking at Bai Murong.

He finally understood. Bai Murong's earlier suggestion to choose a room near the front and her mentioning Bai Shengyi in room number 3 was probably intentional.

He decided not to interfere. After all, Rongrong didn't genuinely like him.

Bai Murong didn't know Sun Wuyi's thoughts. She watched him leave with her own eyes, grinding her teeth in anger. She had been so kind as to want to save him, yet he was so selfish, abandoning her and running away!

All of this was Bai Shengyi's fault!

Bai Murong glared at Bai Shengyi, wishing she could carve her into a thousand pieces to vent her hatred. However, immediately after, she heard Li Shiqing's voice.

"Sister Li! Please save me!" Bai Murong's expression brightened, then turned wronged and panicked. She looked helplessly at Li Shiqing, who had come searching.

"Murong?" Li Shiqing, upon seeing Bai Murong's state, said indignantly, "Who did this? Wait, I'll get you down right away."

She prepared to step forward but was blocked by a whip.

Only then did Li Shiqing notice Bai Shengyi standing beside her. She was dressed in light-colored clothes, her expression unusually indifferent. The smile in her eyes toward Li Shiqing lacked the previous faint and genuine warmth.

"I did it," Bai Shengyi said calmly. "If Sister Li wants to save someone, you must get past me first."

Li Shiqing frowned instinctively. "Sister Shengyi, why are you treating your sister like this?"

Bai Murong seemed to have found someone to support her and cried, "Sister Li, it was my fault. I heard that Shengyi had tied the Mingyu Princess of the royal family and Prince Gong outside to be struck by lightning, so I took the opportunity to release them while Shengyi and the others were away. But, but I was thinking of Shengyi and the family."

With every word she spoke, she felt the bone-gnawing pain of the thorns piercing her flesh. She cursed Bai Shengyi in her heart, but continued, "I originally wanted to explain to Shengyi, but she didn't care and whipped me with her whip, and even tied me up. Sister Li, sob..."

Bai Murong seemed to have a complete breakdown, crying piteously.

Li Shiqing's face was tightly drawn. She said displeasedly to Bai Shengyi, "Sister Shengyi, your sister's actions were indeed problematic, but ultimately they were for you. You've already hit her. How about this, I'll have Murong apologize to you..."

"Fellow Daoist Li!" Bai Shengyi interrupted her, changing her address. Her expression became even more indifferent, and she tilted her head slightly, staring at Li Shiqing. "She herself admitted she did wrong, so she should bear the consequences, shouldn't she?"

Li Shiqing felt the words stick in her throat under Bai Shengyi's gaze.

She steadied herself. "But she is your sister, you..."

"A foster sister who always tries to harm me. Don't insult the identity of a sister." Bai Shengyi waved her hand.

Li Shiqing felt that Bai Shengyi's words had a deeper meaning and frowned tightly. "Shengyi, is there some misunderstanding between you?"

"No misunderstanding," Bai Shengyi stated clearly. "I'm just very angry! Why did she release the people I painstakingly captured without my consent? Why does she do things that harm me under the guise of acting for my own good? Because she's so audacious?"

"Since she released those people, she should stay here in their place. I'll release her when we disembark."

As she spoke, she beckoned with her finger, and the vines lifted Bai Murong, hanging her outside the corridor.

"Ahhhh!" Bai Murong's confident expression instantly shattered, and she screamed in terror.
