Meng Jingwei made an 'ok' gesture, "Remember what you said today. You're paying next time."
With that, she entered the bedroom's bathroom to wash up.
Shen Liannuo tossed her crutches aside and limped into the bedroom, sitting on the bed. "Hey, fess up. What were you doing yesterday?"
Shen Liannuo had come looking for Meng Jingwei late last night and, upon finding her not in the room, wasn't surprised.
After all, Meng Jingwei's behavior when she'd urged her to leave at that time had been rather unusual.
"Meeting a friend."
Meng Jingwei gave a perfunctory reply.
Seeing her reluctance to elaborate, Shen Liannuo naturally didn't press further. Instead, she lay down on the bed and sighed deeply, "I really envy you guys, being able to go wherever you please."
She lifted her leg, which was in a cast, "Once I'm better, I'll be able to go wherever I want too."
"Consider it a lesson learned, so you don't 'race' again next time," Meng Jingwei mumbled, her mouth full of foam as she brushed her teeth.
After she finished her toiletries and changed her clothes, she went downstairs with Shen Liannuo for breakfast.
In the hotel restaurant, Song Jun was already waiting for them.
Upon seeing them, he immediately stepped forward and asked, "What would you like to eat? I'll get it for you."
"Shen Liannuo, you sit down. Song Jun and I will get the food," Meng Jingwei said, pointing to a seat by the window for Shen Liannuo.
Considering Shen Liannuo's mobility issues, Meng Jingwei was very considerate of her.
Shen Liannuo walked over to the chair by the window and sat down. She told them what she wanted for breakfast, and then the two of them headed towards the breakfast counter.
The restaurant was neither too crowded nor too empty, with a moderate level of noise.
Meng Jingwei walked up to Song Jun and said softly, "It will be fine with me and Shen Liannuo here. You should go back to Lancheng. A Ye... he probably needs you now."
Song Jun and Song Ci were Qing Mu Ye's right-hand men. With him currently cornered, he was in dire need of personnel.
Song Jun gave Meng Jingwei a meaningful glance and shook his head, "The boss ordered me to stay."
"What, does my word count for nothing?" Meng Jingwei turned her head, her sharp gaze directed at Song Jun, exerting subtle pressure on him.
Just as Song Jun was hesitating, Meng Jingwei continued, "You know A Ye's situation better than I do. Whether you go back to help him or not is up to you."
She threw the decision back to Song Jun.
Although Song Jun was worried about Meng Jingwei and Shen Liannuo, his primary concern at this moment was still Qing Mu Ye.
After all, Song Ci was always by Qing Mu Ye's side, and any developments there would be reported to Song Jun immediately by Song Ci.
After a moment of hesitation, Song Jun said, "Then... Young Madam, you... please take care of Miss Shen."
Meng Jingwei glanced at him, a slight frown on her face, "You seem quite concerned about Shen Liannuo. What's this, could it be you have feelings for her?"
Based on her years of gossip experience, she sensed that Song Jun might have some feelings for Shen Liannuo.
"Young Madam, please don't joke with me. This is all the boss's instruction," Song Jun's reply was watertight.
Meng Jingwei didn't delve deeper into the matter. They ordered some breakfast and returned to their seats to dine with Shen Liannuo.
During the meal, Song Jun mentioned he was returning to Lancheng. Shen Liannuo nodded enthusiastically, "Great. Lancheng is good." It was wonderful to not have anyone 'supervising' her.
"Young Madam will be busy filming during the day. If you get too bored, I'll arrange for someone to keep you company," Song Jun was still somewhat concerned about Shen Liannuo.
Having known her for some time, he knew Shen Liannuo wasn't exactly a docile person and often caused people a great deal of worry.
"Mmm-hmm, mmm-hmm, that's not a problem."
Shen Liannuo was in a cheerful mood. She took a sip of the local specialty, Yancheng tofu pudding, and for a moment, even the tofu pudding tasted incredibly delicious.
