Chapter 688 It's My Fault

It was another bout of exhilarating pleasure, almost to the point of forgetting oneself. Meng Jingwei felt that ethereal sense of joy, floating like an immortal, time and time again.

She had to admit, Qing Muye's stamina was truly impressive.

Afterward, Qing Muye carried her, utterly exhausted, to the bathroom for a wash before finally bringing her back to bed.

Meng Jingwei, having slept for a while, woke up. She reached out to wrap her arms around his waist, holding him tightly as if afraid he would leave again if she loosened her grip.

Feeling the warmth of his skin, Meng Jingwei nuzzled her cheek against his chest, like a kitten yearning for affection.

"Behave yourself."

Suddenly, Qing Muye reached out and playfully spanked her on the bottom.

His voice was incredibly magnetic, so pleasant it sent shivers down her spine.

Meng Jingwei rested her cheek against his chest, feeling the slight tremor as he spoke. She felt this was the sweetest moment she could ever wish for.

"Ooh~~"

She responded, drawing out the end of her word, her tone playfully cute and endearing.

It was precisely this charmingly mischievous demeanor that stirred Qing Muye's desire, though she remained blissfully unaware.

"This trip to Country C, I won't be back for a while. Song Ci is coming with me, and the company will be managed by Pei Ying and Lu Yanming. Will that be alright?"

Unable to contact Qing Muye, Meng Jingwei had to make the decision herself.

Although Han Yu's family was involved in business, Han Yu himself had become a police officer. Tang Si had abandoned medicine to pursue commerce, but Meng Jingwei always felt he was not entirely reliable.

The only person she felt she could truly count on was Lu Yanming.

"Yanming is quite steady; it's good to entrust it to him."

Qing Muye wasn't overly concerned about the company matters. He knew that Lu Yanming, Han Yu, and Tang Si were all dependable.

No matter who Meng Jingwei temporarily handed over the company's authority to, they would consult each other if they encountered any difficult issues.

"Aren't you worried about our children? Oh, I never told you, but our daughter is named Yi Yi, and our son is Yi Hang." Meng Jingwei noticed that Qing Muye hadn't asked about the children at all.

One moment she was wondering if Qing Muye cared about the children at all, and the next she realized she was being overly anxious.

His lack of worry meant he had likely made arrangements and thorough plans in secret to protect the children.

"Mmm, I know all about it."

Qing Muye placed a kiss on her forehead. "You've worked hard, A'wei. Let's not have any more children from now on."

"Why?"

Saying it so out of the blue, Meng Jingwei was completely bewildered.

"I know you had a long labor and a lot of bleeding and pain the day you gave birth." As he spoke, he couldn't help but hold her tighter. "I'm sorry I couldn't be there with you on the most important day of your life. It was my fault."

In reality, although Qing Muye wasn't physically present outside the delivery room that day, he was at the hospital, watching everything that happened in the corridor via surveillance, constantly monitoring her.

Yet, even so, he still felt a sense of guilt.

"No, as long as our hearts are together, you're always by my side."

Sensing Qing Muye's low mood and his self-recrimination, Meng Jingwei tilted her head and kissed him on the lips. "Because I know you love me."

If it weren't for her peculiar identity, Qing Muye wouldn't have to live a life without a fixed abode, constantly hiding in the shadows.

Everything he endured was far greater than hers.

Meeting his gaze, Meng Jingwei's eyes were filled with love. "I should thank you. Having your silent protection is my greatest fortune. If there is a next life, I will definitely be with you again; that would be a form of repayment..."

"No need for a next life, you can repay me now."

Qing Muye grinned mischievously and pressed down on her.

Endless.

Meng Jingwei was both exasperated and helpless.
