Chapter 239 The New Big Boss

The employees standing around were discussing amongst themselves. Meng Jingwei, feigning composure, could clearly hear their words.

She couldn't help but sigh inwardly: Being handsome was truly a catalyst for disaster and chaos.

"Everyone, please settle down. I'd like to introduce you all. His name is Qing Muye, the CEO of Songyu Group. You all know his identity. However, from now on, he will have a new title: the major shareholder of 'Encounter' Wedding Company. Meaning, he is your, no, *our* immediate superior, the boss."

Meng Jingwei stated concisely.

As soon as she finished speaking, the room erupted.

"Oh my goodness, this is too sudden!"

"President Qing will be our boss from now on!"

"This is such a surprise. Songyu Group is a Fortune Global 500 company, and Master Qing is the boss of Songyu Group. Now he's our boss too, does that mean we're working for a Fortune 500 company?"

"Just thinking about how handsome my boss is makes me feel passionate about my work."

...

A wave of excitement swept through the hall, the employees overjoyed.

Meng Jingwei clapped her hands again, signaling for quiet, and continued, "Because the wedding company is expanding, we've leased the ten floors next door for a ten-year contract. Renovation will officially begin tomorrow. So, everyone needs to be clear about one thing: here, we earn based on our capabilities. If you perform well, there will be significant room for advancement in the future. You should also trust that under President Qing's leadership, we will only get better and earn more."

This was undoubtedly the best news.

Dozens of colleagues were ecstatic and thrilled. Seeing their joy, Meng Jingwei's mood also brightened.

She glanced at the man standing beside her, "President Qing, would you like to say a few words to everyone?"

The man's lips curved into a subtle arc, and he nodded with a gentle smile.

Then, his gaze fell upon the employees standing before him, and he spoke, "Do your best, surpass yourselves. Keep it up!"

Ten words.

He perfectly embodied the phrase "precious words like gold."

Meng Jingwei frowned, confused, "Is that all?"

"Mm."

He responded.

This simple confirmation caused another stir below.

"Holy crap, President Qing is so handsome."

"So cool and domineering, utterly gorgeous."

"Oh my, I think I'm falling in love."

"President Qing, could I get a photo with you?"

"Master Qing, I'd love a photo with you too."

"Could you give me an autograph?"

...

Meng Jingwei: ...

A perfectly normal company internal meeting had suddenly turned into a fan meet-and-greet.

This damned man, with his irresistible charm, had already captivated the employees before even officially joining the company!

"Alright."

Qing Muye readily agreed.

Today, he lacked his usual distant and cold demeanor. Instead, he was exceptionally approachable.

And so, colleagues began pulling him for photos, and more photos!

At this moment, his assistant Shi Ran ran up to Meng Jingwei, her eyes sparkling, and showed her phone, "Sister Wei, look, isn't this photo of me and President Qing beautiful?"

Meng Jingwei looked at Shi Ran, whose smile was as bright as a flower. On the phone screen, Shi Ran stood beside Qing Muye, making a peace sign with her fingers, her smile innocent and radiant. She looked quite endearing.

"Mm, it's beautiful. You're very photogenic," she complimented.

Shi Ran nodded vigorously, "Hehehe, I think it's pretty good too."

As Meng Jingwei was talking to Shi Ran, her gaze drifted and she saw Lin Meng ascending the stairs, her back looking somewhat dejected.

She stood up and followed, going upstairs.

On the upper floor, Lin Meng sat by the window, lost in thought.

Meng Jingwei walked over, "Are you worried that after Qing Muye arrives, he won't approve of your part-time work?"

She had hit the nail on the head.

Lin Meng turned around and saw Meng Jingwei approaching. She supported her pregnant belly and stood up, "Why did you come up?"

"Sit, sit. You're almost due, just be careful."

Meng Jingwei sat down opposite her.

Lin Meng sighed, "My baby is due soon, and I expect things will get even busier. President Qing manages such a large company; it's bound to have strict discipline. He'll surely... alas..."

"With me here, you don't need to worry. Besides, within the wedding company, you've always been the backbone. Rest assured, as long as you can manage your personal affairs and excel in wedding planning, you'll be an exception here. I approve!"

Meng Jingwei knew Lin Meng loved the wedding industry and was passionate about her work. She also understood how tiring it could be for women to care for children and work hard simultaneously.

She decided to give Lin Meng a morale boost.

"Really? President Meng, thank you, thank you so much." Lin Meng was immensely grateful. "Don't worry, after the baby is born, I'll hire a confinement nanny to take care of things, and it won't affect my work."

"That's good."

Meng Jingwei stood up, walked to her side, patted her shoulder, and reassured her, "Take good care of yourself too. You should head home early. I'm leaving now."

With that, Meng Jingwei turned and went downstairs.

Downstairs, Qing Muye had finished taking photos with everyone and was standing by the entrance, smoking. She walked over with her bag.

Seeing her approach, the man walked to the trash can, stubbed out his cigarette, and tossed it in. "What do you want to eat?"

"Anything is fine."

"Let's go," Qing Muye said, walking up to her. Then he added, "Get in my car."

Meng Jingwei descended the steps with him and got into Qing Muye's car.

The sedan slowly started, heading towards a Chinese restaurant.

Meng Jingwei remained silent for most of the journey.

Qing Muye did not mention the contract.

He knew the wedding company was causing Meng Jingwei considerable stress, so he preferred not to talk about business matters.

The fact that she had only retained 5% of the shares spoke volumes.

Upon arriving at the restaurant's private room, they ordered some simple dishes and a bowl of porridge.

While waiting for the food, Meng Jingwei said, "The wedding shop is expanding. I'll leave the hiring to you. Also, you'll need to select some people for management."

"It's mealtime, no business talk," Qing Muye said, lifting his tea cup to pour a cup for Meng Jingwei, his voice exceptionally gentle and melodious.

His gentleness struck a chord deep within Meng Jingwei, melting some of the icy hardness in her heart, as if warmed by the sun.

Meng Jingwei looked up, her gaze complex as she studied the man before her.

His exceptionally handsome features, his every movement exuding aristocratic charm and proud coolness, yet he was so gentle only towards her.

Recalling how he had been rendered speechless with anger during their previous misunderstanding, Meng Jingwei suddenly felt a little ungrateful.

However, matters of the heart could not be forced.

"Oh. I'm going to the old house to see Grandma tomorrow. Do you want to come?" Meng Jingwei asked.

"Alright," Qing Muye agreed. He then added, "The day after tomorrow, there's a charity event in Lancheng. Would you like to go?"

"Sure, I'd love to."

Meng Jingwei readily agreed.

That evening, they chatted casually, and the atmosphere wasn't awkward. They parted ways afterwards. It wasn't until the following afternoon that they drove together to the Qing family's old residence.
