The exhaust fumes that assailed him made Chen Fan cough a few times. He cursed inwardly, thinking, *Just because you drive a fancy car, so what?*
Then, a middle-aged man in a sharp suit and sunglasses emerged from the driver’s seat, exuding an air of importance, quite like a bodyguard from a Hong Kong film.
He strode up to Chen Fan and said in a deep voice, "Young man, are you from Niutou Town?"
Chen Fan sized up the middle-aged man, then slurped another mouthful of noodles. "Yeah! What's up?"
The middle-aged man continued, "Don't worry, I'm not a bad guy. I came here because I heard that there’s a divine doctor on Niutou Mountain behind Niutou Town. Is that true?"
For many years, only two people had lived on Niutou Mountain: him and the old charlatan.
This meant that the wealthy person before him was looking for his master?
*Hmm? Has this old man's reputation spread to the city?*
*He's even outshone me! I'm really unhappy about this... I'm the renowned veterinarian in town and in all the surrounding villages!*
Chen Fan pondered for a moment and said, "Niutou Mountain! That place is dead poor, not even a ghost in sight. How could anyone be there? Uncle, you've been deceived! Oh, and although no one lives on top of that mountain, it's full of people below!"
He still had his guard up.
"Young man, you..." Before the middle-aged man could ask further, he suddenly understood what Chen Fan meant.
Just then, a cold voice rang out.
The car window lowered halfway, carrying a faint scent of roses.
"Why do you know so much about the situation on Niutou Mountain?"
Chen Fan heard the voice and his expression faltered. *A little girl?*
Because he had stayed on the mountain for so long, he referred to all women – whether called "miss," "fairy," or "beautiful sister" by others – as "little girls."
"Little..." Chen Fan stopped himself just as the words were about to come out, swallowing his "wolfish" remark. He then said, "Because I often go up the mountain to hunt, I know!"
The pleasant yet cold voice did not reply.
The middle-aged man asked again, "Young man, are you telling the truth?"
Chen Fan nodded. "A monk does not lie!"
"You're a monk?"
"My heart yearns for Buddha!"
This answer almost broke the middle-aged man's back.
*This kid talks too much!*
"Uncle Gong, shall we go back..." the aloof voice sounded again.
The middle-aged man, addressed as Uncle Gong, nodded.
He turned and opened the car door to get back in.
Preparing to leave...
Chen Fan wolfed down the noodles, finishing the broth, then wiped his mouth and stood up. "Uncle, are you heading back to the city? Could you give me a ride?"
He spoke too quickly and coughed, causing two noodles to shoot out of his nostrils.
Fortunately, Chen Fan was quick to handle it, avoiding too much embarrassment.
Uncle Gong looked towards the back seat. "Young lady, shall we take him?"
"Whatever..." came the indifferent voice, clearly indicating she didn't want to waste time on such matters.
Uncle Gong glanced at Chen Fan and said directly, "The young lady agrees. Get in!"
Chen Fan was delighted. He was short on cash, and it was like a pillow delivered to him when he was sleepy.
Since the front seats were cluttered with gift boxes, he had to sit in the back.
The moment he pulled open the car door, Chen Fan was stunned. Two long legs encased in black silk instantly captured all his attention.
"What are you waiting for? We're in a hurry..." Uncle Gong reminded him coolly.
"Oh!"
Chen Fan reacted and nimbly sat on the plush sofa, closing the door with fluid movements, afraid they might not let him in.
Soon, the car started moving!
However, Chen Fan's eyes were like hooks, never leaving the silken stockings of the cold woman beside him...
