Chapter 105: Let me hug you, just once_3
A month later, Jia Tianzi brought her a complete set of university registration documents.
Shi Nian looked over them and raised an eyebrow, "An international exchange student from China, Nana?"
Jia Tianzi nodded, "Your fake identity. All your entry records and academic records can be found online. It’s a ’real’ fake identity."
"And him?" Shi Nian cautiously brought up that person.
Jia Tianzi thought for a moment, "The boss only provided your identity information. As for his, the boss didn’t explain, and I shouldn’t pry."
.
On the last Monday in August, Shi Nian went alone to register at Kangchuan University.
It was still the same school with lush green grass and umbrella-like trees, with the ancient teaching building’s white pointed roof visible across the clear lake.
But this time, a small sense of loneliness and confusion surged in her heart.
It was because she couldn’t reach him. The phone wouldn’t connect.
"Hey, are you here to register?" A guy in a plaid shirt and jeans who looked like a college student walked over and greeted her warmly. Seeing her slight bewilderment, he quickly switched to Japanese, Korean, and then Chinese.
Shi Nian took a glance at her suitcase and the stack of forms in her hand, then smiled, "Oh, yes. I was just thinking about which direction to start walking."
The student friendly extended his hand, "Mark. From the Eastern Studies Department. Let me help you."
Shi Nian handed over the suitcase handle with a smile, "I didn’t expect your Chinese to be so good. Is it because you’re in the Eastern Studies Department?"
Mark smiled, "My grandmother is Chinese, so I am one-quarter Chinese."
Shi Nian then introduced herself, "Nana, or in Chinese, you can call me Nian Nian." Since he specially added a Chinese accent to his English name to accommodate her, she quickly made up a Chinese name for herself.
Nian Nian, it’s appropriate enough.
.
Mark accompanied Shi Nian to the faculty office to register. Shi Nian carefully tried to find Tang Yanqing’s name on the list of faculty members, but found nothing.
She could only comfort herself, since her name was fabricated, Tang Yanqing surely wouldn’t use her real name either.
Time for Mark’s class came, he gave Shi Nian a detailed introduction, they exchanged phone numbers, and he waved goodbye with a smile.
"Nian, see you later."
Shi Nian completed the necessary procedures, got her class schedule, and also took care of her dormitory registration.
Following the dormitory registration form and the campus map, she made her way and found herself in front of Zhou Guanghan’s dorm building.
Shi Nian stopped, looked up, and shook her head with a bitter smile.
Fate.
.
On duty at the campus police office today was Sean.
Sean carefully verified the form, yet his gray-blue eyes glanced up and down over Shi Nian’s face.
Although Shi Nian wasn’t wearing the same outfit as that day, she still had her glasses off, and her long hair down, just as it had been when she arrived.
Tang Yanqing had said that looking that way made her appear younger and more like a vibrant college student.
She gave Sean a shy smile, "Hey, Sean, do you still remember me?"
Sean raised an eyebrow slightly as if suddenly realizing, "Oh, I remember now. You were the one who came looking for Zhou Guanghan last time, right? You left in tears; I didn’t expect you to come back today."
Shi Nian clenched her fingers, her face trembling slightly with pain.
"I applied to come to Kangchuan University as an exchange student just for him. He’s gone now, and I thought I had no reason to stay... so I left and locked myself away for a whole month. But gradually I discovered that I still couldn’t leave behind the memories he gave me, so I came back."
Tears welled up in her eyes, "Even though he’s no longer here, this university, this dormitory still retains his shadow. That’s enough."
Sean nodded, "My condolences."
.
Sean personally escorted Shi Nian to her room. 507,7 happens to be Shi Nian’s lucky number, and she liked it.
It was a suite-style dormitory, and as soon as Shi Nian entered, she was startled by a guy who came out of the room.
Sean saw this and smiled, placing his hand gently around Shi Nian’s shoulders, "Scared, little Chinese Doll? Don’t worry, it’s a co-ed dorm, but each of you has your own room, just sharing the kitchen and dining area and other common areas."
Once Shi Nian calmed down, she realized this arrangement was the school’s considerate effort.
The Eastern Studies Department has many Chinese and Asian students who tend to be shy and face some minor difficulties in interpersonal relationships when they first arrive in M Country. So, by arranging for multiple residents and co-ed living, it helps everyone make more friends quickly and integrate into the educational environment of M Country faster.
