The light of dawn shone on Su Ding’s face as she slowly awoke.
Recalling Jin Ye’s return yesterday, Su Ding suddenly felt a strange sensation in her heart, not of surprise, but of confusion and helplessness.
"Knock, knock, knock."
Just then, the bedroom door was knocked, and Jin Ye entered, dressed in a suit.
Su Ding looked at him, and in her daze, she felt she was overthinking. This was Jin Ye, after all.
"Come down for breakfast."
Jin Ye looked at her with gentle eyes.
Su Ding froze for a few seconds, then suddenly came to her senses. She flipped out of bed and walked over. "Where were you last night?"
"I went back to the company." Jin Ye smiled. "What happened yesterday is over. Hurry up and eat, the children are waiting downstairs."
After speaking, he proactively walked out of the room.
Su Ding watched his retreating back, suddenly at a loss for words.
She put on her clothes and went downstairs. Jin Ye beckoned the children to sit down, and the atmosphere at the meal was still harmonious.
Su Ding was worried about Jin Ye's injury. After the driver took the children to kindergarten, she pulled Jin Ye to sit on the sofa.
"Let's go to the hospital to see your injury."
Su Ding looked at Jin Ye. Even though it was the same face, she still felt that the man in front of her was like a familiar stranger.
Jin Ye's expression showed a flicker of surprise, but then he smiled. "No need. I saw a doctor for this injury abroad, and the doctor said it's nothing serious."
"But didn't you say your memory was impaired?" Su Ding insisted.
"Memory recovery takes time, and medication is limited. Besides, I have medicine."
Jin Ye frowned as he explained.
He had accidentally damaged an old wound on his head before, making it look like a new injury, as a reasonable explanation for the flaws in his disguise.
Once Su Ding felt he was different from Jin Ye, he would attribute it to the injury.
However, if they went to the hospital, the doctor would discover the truth, and his identity might be exposed then…
Therefore, he would not go to the hospital.
"But I'm still worried. Let's go to the hospital."
Su Ding said seriously. She really wanted to know why, despite the memory loss, his entire demeanor had changed, and why the mole behind Jin Ye's neck had suddenly appeared.
Jin Ye looked at Su Ding's persistent expression, feeling a bit uneasy. Had this woman figured something out?
He suddenly stood up. "Let's do it another day. I still have things to do at the company and have to leave now."
With that, he directly pushed Su Ding's hand away and got up to leave.
Su Ding watched him hurry away, her brows furrowing even deeper. What exactly was going on?
Why had he changed so much after this business trip?
Jin Ye would never have ignored her words before, no matter how urgent things were at the company. And now he had become very impatient.
Could he have found someone new abroad?
Su Ding considered this possibility but then shook her head. Jin Ye wasn't that kind of person. They were no longer in the state they were when they first met. Two years of getting along were enough for her to see Jin Ye's character.
Something must have happened in between!
Su Ding was deep in thought, about to call Luo Zhu, when Xiao Yuan's call came in. She had one more scene to film today, and then she would wrap up.
Thinking of Jin Ye, Su Ding had to put her own concerns aside for now.
In any case, Jin Ye was back. As for the reason behind everything, she could only take it one step at a time.
Arriving at the set.
Su Ding keenly noticed that there were quite a few people gathered nearby, and even several reporters hiding among them, taking pictures.
Seeing these people, Su Ding suddenly became alert.
She didn't get out of the car first. Instead, she waited for Xiao Yuan to walk over. As soon as she got into the car, Xiao Yuan said with an unhappy expression, "Dingding, something's happened. Someone leaked to the media that you were also participating in this film. These reporters have been waiting here since early morning. I only just found out."
"Now the media has spread the word, and many fans have been incited. They're afraid you'll ruin this film and drag their idols down, so they're attacking you online…"
Xiao Yuan explained the current situation to Su Ding with a troubled look.
"Don't get out of the car yet, to avoid them surrounding you. I'll contact Director Wilson and ask him to send people to drive them away."
Seeing that people outside the car were already sneakily taking pictures of her, Su Ding quickly lowered her head, feeling very flustered.
She knew that these media outlets were the best at sensationalizing things.
Seeing what kind of news they would fabricate about her, and possibly even dig up her past issues again…
