Lin Hai Ting Tao
Chapter 8 Teammates
Zhou Yi was pulled by Yang Muge all the way to a three-story building painted white, which looked exactly the same as the building where he had just registered. If Yang Muge hadn't dragged him here, he would have thought he had run in a circle and returned to the starting point.
"This is the dormitory?" he asked, looking at the building in front of him.
"Yes." Yang Muge nodded. "What's your room number?"
Zhou Yi took out his room card from his pocket, looked at it and said, "204."
Then he asked Yang Muge, "What about you?"
"Me? I share a room with Sun Pan, the tall guy from just now. He's a goalkeeper, that's why he's so tall," Yang Muge explained.
Zhou Yi looked up at Yang Muge. "You're not short either."
Yang Muge smiled slightly, a shy and bashful smile.
"Thanks a lot just now. I'm Zhou Yi." Zhou Yi proactively extended his hand to Yang Muge.
"You're welcome. We're teammates, we should get along well. I'm Yang Muge," Yang Muge responded kindly to Zhou Yi.
Zhou Yi quite liked this new teammate in front of him. He was kind, gentle, and helpful.
At this moment, Sun Pan strolled over with an splayed gait. Seeing this, Yang Muge went up to him and asked, "Where's Guo Nu?"
"He's gone," Sun Pan replied.
"You didn't fight, did you?" Zhou Yi also asked with concern.
"What a joke!" Hearing Zhou Yi say this, Sun Pan raised his head and snorted. "What kind of person do you think I am? How dare that kid touch me? He should take a good look at my size! How stupid would he have to be to cause trouble for me?"
Sun Pan proudly showed off his muscles, which weren't much, but he was tall, and standing in front of Guo Nu, he was quite intimidating. Zhou Yi had estimated that Guo Nu was about the same height as him, and he had to look up to see Sun Pan, so Guo Nu should be about the same.
Then Sun Pan proactively extended his hand. "I'm Sun Pan, from the Northeast."
Zhou Yi quickly nodded and shook his hand. "I could tell, you sound like Zhao Benshan."
"Hey, it's not the same, it's not the same. He's from Tieling, I'm from Shenyang. Tieling is a big city, haha!" Sun Pan laughed, his voice loud and hearty, which indeed fit Zhou Yi's stereotype of Northeasterners.
After laughing, Sun Pan said, "That Guo Nu is also our teammate, but he's a bit…insecure." Sun Pan chose this word after some deliberation. "Because he looks old and isn't handsome, he's particularly sensitive about people talking about his appearance. Of course, it's hard for someone as handsome as me to understand his feelings…"
He even flicked his hair.
Zhou Yi realized that Sun Pan was really enthusiastic, and also…talkative.
However, he didn't dislike Sun Pan's talkativeness. It was fun to have someone to talk to, and if you could chat, it wasn't a problem. As the saying goes, "A thousand cups are too few when drinking with a kindred spirit," which means that if you are truly friends who can chat, a thousand sentences wouldn't be enough.
Sun Pan continued, "...Also, he has another taboo, which is that he stutters a bit when he speaks, especially when he's anxious. He hates it when people laugh at him for stuttering. Actually, he speaks normally most of the time, but he stutters when he's emotionally agitated. Anyway, be careful of these taboos when you interact with him. He has a volatile temper and explodes like a powder keg when he's ignited. Just on the first day of joining the team, someone laughed when he stuttered during his self-introduction, and he turned around and beat him up…"
Zhou Yi was dumbfounded—fighting with a teammate on the first day of joining the team, this guy's temper was indeed unusually fiery… It seemed that he was indeed lucky just now to have met Sun Pan and Yang Muge at a critical moment.
"If it weren't for our head coach suppressing this matter, Guo Nu would probably have been kicked off the team. So now everyone keeps their distance from him, and no one wants to get along with him."
"Actually, he's quite pitiful," Yang Muge interjected. "He's all alone, so his personality is even more withdrawn."
Sun Pan immediately criticized, "Those who are pitiful must have something to hate. You're just too soft-hearted, a pushover!"
Yang Muge, criticized by Sun Pan, didn't get angry, but just smiled and didn't argue with Sun Pan about right or wrong.
"Let's go, let's check out your dorm," Sun Pan said to Zhou Yi.
"Okay." Zhou Yi nodded.
So the two of them sent Zhou Yi to his dormitory. Along the way, Sun Pan's mouth basically didn't stop, chattering like a machine gun.
But thanks to him, Zhou Yi learned a lot about the team.
For example, before he arrived, the team had actually been training for almost a week, but Sun Pan said that not everyone had arrived. Besides Zhou Yi, there was one other person who hadn't come.
Zhou Yi curiously asked who that person was, but Sun Pan snorted and said unhappily, "He's a big star, so it's normal for him to be late and make a grand entrance."
He seemed unwilling to mention that person and immediately changed the subject.
The three of them passed through the long corridor of the dormitory building and arrived at the dormitory door. Zhou Yi took out his room card, swiped it to open the door, entered the dormitory, and put down his luggage. Sun Pan was also about to leave. He reached out and patted Zhou Yi on the shoulder, speaking with the tone of a Northeastern big brother sitting at a barbecue stall with a little sister in a mink coat peeling garlic for him. "If anything happens in the future, just come to me. There's nothing to be afraid of that Guo Nu, I'll take care of him! Okay, you rest, we're leaving!"
Yang Muge also smiled and nodded at Zhou Yi. "Goodbye."
The two of them left Zhou Yi's dormitory one after the other.
Zhou Yi saw the two off and returned to his dormitory. He didn't rush to unpack, but lay down on the bed, hands behind his head, looking at the beige ceiling.
This was his first day entering the team. Although there were some unpleasant things, he also met new friends. This was only the first day, and the first day was only halfway over. What interesting things would happen next…
He turned over and saw the bed next to him.
He remembered that Sun Pan and Yang Muge were roommates, so who would he be roommates with?
Just then, the electronic lock on the closed dormitory door suddenly beeped, and then the door was pushed open.
Zhou Yi quickly sat up from the bed and leaned his head to look into the corridor.
He saw a tall boy dragging a suitcase as he walked in.
It seemed that this should be Zhou Yi's roommate.
Zhou Yi jumped off the bed and proactively extended his hand to the other party. "Hello, my name is Zhou Yi, you must be my roommate, right?"
The other party gently shook Zhou Yi's hand with his other hand. The smile on his face was almost imperceptible, and he said in a very simple and plain tone, "Hello, my name is He Ying."
After saying that, he let go of Zhou Yi's hand and began to pack his things, ignoring Zhou Yi beside him.
Zhou Yi was also an enthusiastic person, so he quickly went over and said, "Do you need any help?"
Unexpectedly, this action caused quite a reaction from He Ying. He immediately stood up and stood in front of his opened suitcase, saying to Zhou Yi in a very impolite tone, "No, this is my privacy."
Even if most people didn't want others to help, they would politely say thank you first, and then politely decline.
Zhou Yi was seeing He Ying's stiff tone and stern face for the first time, and for a moment he was stunned in place, feeling a little embarrassed.
He Ying didn't care what Zhou Yi was feeling. After saying that, he turned around and continued to pack his things. However, because Zhou Yi was still standing next to him, every time he took something out of the suitcase, he would close and lock the suitcase again, and then get up to put away what he had taken out, such as putting his toothbrush and towel in the bathroom.
It was as if he really didn't want Zhou Yi to see what was in the suitcase.
After Zhou Yi reacted, in order to cover up his embarrassment, he also turned around and began to pack his own things. He hadn't even opened his suitcase since he came in.
However, unlike He Ying's carefulness, Zhou Yi was very careless. He took things out of his bag and suitcase and casually put them on the table first, and then continued to rummage through his bag. When there was no more room on the table, he piled them on the bed. Clothes, towels, toiletries…scattered everywhere.
On the other hand, He Ying's suitcase was locked and opened, opened and locked again, but the bed was always clean and tidy.
Throughout the whole process, he didn't say a word, just silently doing his own thing.
Zhou Yi was also focused on packing his things, so he didn't feel anything.
But when he finished packing and he and He Ying were alone in the room, he realized that it was a bit…uncomfortable.
He had just seen off Sun Pan, the chatterbox, and now he had a "mute" who didn't say a word. The contrast was truly huge.
But Zhou Yi would rather be with Sun Pan than be in a room with such a cold person. Although it was summer, he felt particularly cold in the room.
He even ran to the air conditioner controller to see if the temperature was set too low, but it showed twenty-six degrees, which was normal.
Several times, Zhou Yi wanted to open his mouth and talk to He Ying, even if it wasn't a chat, just a few simple words would do.
But every time he was about to open his mouth, He Ying seemed to have a telepathic connection and would raise his eyes from his book to look at Zhou Yi.
His eyes were like an ancient well, without any ripples, just like a pool of stagnant water. Zhou Yi felt a chill in his heart, and the courage he had just mustered, like the words that had reached his lips, vanished into thin air.
Fortunately, He Ying's phone rang soon, and he went out to answer it, and Zhou Yi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He lay on his back on the bed, exhaling a long breath, as if he had been holding his breath in the water all along.
However, he didn't feel annoyed because of this.
He was still full of expectations for future training and competitions.
A volatile guy with many G-spots…ah, no, sensitive points, a Northeastern chatterbox, a friendly and gentle warm man, plus such a cold man…
It's really interesting!
