Su Yue had never seen him like this before.
Even if she wanted to leave, she couldn't anymore.
Her heart had softened beyond measure, and she could no longer think of anything else.
"Really, my throat is about to catch fire. Can Officer Chen allow me to have a drink of water?"
A smile bloomed on her face, her voice gentle, as she lightly squeezed his muscles where her hand rested on his waist.
She wanted to ease the somewhat heavy atmosphere at that moment through this action.
But he didn't move. Instead, he looked into her eyes again with an interrogating gaze. She didn't stop him, letting him look.
Only the bedside lamp in the bedroom cast a glow in the room, but he could still see the faint smile in the girl's eyes.
He finally believed that she had no intention of leaving.
Su Yue felt his entire body soften. Moments later, he held her for a bit longer before he was willing to take her hand to get water.
As they drank water, he still didn't let go of her hand.
She was accustomed to holding the cup with both hands when drinking water, so she gently reminded him, "I can't drink water like this."
There was no obvious expression on the man's face. He released her hand but then directly circled behind her, naturally wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into his embrace.
"Chen Ziming." She couldn't help but laugh at his clingy behavior, calling out his name.
"Mm," a muffled voice sounded in her ear. He had already leaned down, resting his chin on her shoulder.
"You always tell me not to be afraid, so you shouldn't be afraid either, okay?" She took a sip of water, turned her face, and her voice grew serious.
What happened tonight was merely a small interlude, a disturbance to her heart.
In fact, if not for this incident prompting her to reflect, she wouldn't have realized how good he was to her.
After this interlude, her resolve only grew stronger. She wanted to continue with him, walking towards the light.
Upon hearing her words, he also turned his face, looking into her eyes.
Her eyes sparkled, as if they held a galaxy.
He didn't answer for a moment.
Seeing this, Su Yue showed him the sweet smile she knew he loved the most, and continued to speak softly:
"I won't leave easily, and I won't say it easily in the future, okay?"
She still reserved a sliver of caution for herself, adding the word "easily."
But for these words to come out of her mouth was already quite difficult.
"Mm," his heart finally settled, and he responded softly. Then, he lowered his voice again and asked,
"Can I kiss you, darling?"
She froze for a moment, then remembered how he had tried to kiss her on the bed, and she had instinctively dodged him.
Her smile deepened, and she suddenly found him somewhat cute at that moment, like a child asking for candy from an adult.
She could barely refuse him even on normal days, let alone now.
The girl moved forward directly and left a gentle kiss on his lips.
Just as his eyes regained their sparkle, she thought of something else. She put on a stern face and said somewhat sternly,
"We'll let today's matter go. If you dare to ruin my reputation outside again in the future, I'll really find a younger and more handsome guy than you to vent my frustrations."
"Oh, perhaps I won't be frustrated at all. After all, I'll be very happy to see handsome young men."
The man finally burst into laughter.
"Darling, you can't be with anyone but me."
"Isn't that your own wish?"
"I'm immature, but darling can't be immature too. You must be polite and follow social order and customs."

He was being unreasonably righteous.
But at least he had recovered, and Su Yue also breathed a sigh of relief from her heart.
She finally finished her water and led him back to the bed.
Perhaps what happened tonight had touched him, as he clung to her twice more. By the time they both fell asleep, the sky was already beginning to turn pale.
