"Alright, alright, stop arguing. Jin Yan, you take Xiao Yan back. Yueyue, let's go back to the dining table to eat," Liang Mu was the first to step forward, mediating between them.
"No need. I'll take Yueyue back first," Chen Ziming said, walking directly over. He took Su Yue's hand and didn't look at Zheng Yan again. Then, he turned and left.
"Hey..." Jin Yan tried to stop him, but Liang Mu held him back, shaking his head at Jin Yan without a word. The others knew his temperament. If he was determined to leave, they wouldn't try to keep him. Zheng Yan, however, remained standing where she was, watching their retreating figures. Her heart ached terribly. She had never seen him dote on a girl like this. This girl... was too arrogant! But he indulged her, indulged her to the point of humiliating her in public! Her gaze gradually filled with malice. She was determined to make this girl pay.
...
The elevator reached the first floor. The moment they stepped out, Su Yue finally breathed a long sigh of relief, realizing her palms were covered in sweat, which had also dampened the man's palms. Chen Ziming felt it too. He released her hand and took a tissue from the server nearby. He carefully wiped her palms.
"You did well," he suddenly said. Listening closely, one could discern a hint of pleasure in his tone. But she wasn't feeling happy at all. She withdrew her hand from his, looked at him with a serious expression, and said in a low voice, "Officer Chen, don't you have an explanation?" She had been verbally attacked twice today! All because of her status as his girlfriend! Yet, he was praising her? She wasn't in the mood to accept his commendation; instead, she wanted to know how many more such incidents would occur. Anger makes one age. She couldn't afford to be this angry.
Hearing her displeasure, the man moved closer and said softly, "I'll explain to my darling when we get back." Su Yue's eyes showed suspicion. But this really wasn't a good place to talk. She'd wait until they got back; she wasn't in a hurry. The driver drove them back to their residence. Upon entering, she sidestepped him and went straight upstairs. She grabbed her pajamas and hurried to the bathroom, wanting to change out of these bothersome clothes first. These clothes were bought from the shop owned by someone she disliked, by someone she particularly loathed now. Her luck was truly out of this world! After changing, she looked at herself in the mirror, then took down her hair and tidied it casually. Habitually, she reviewed her "debate" from the evening, feeling quite satisfied, which somewhat eased her unpleasant mood. But she was still unhappy. After all, her debating skills weren't meant for dramatic catfights over men. But what could she do... She needed Chen Ziming's support, and yet he had so many followers. Finally, she wore a look of helplessness. She walked to the bathroom door, took a deep breath, and pulled the door open. The man was leaning back on the sofa, eyes closed, resting. Hearing her emerge, he opened his eyes and sat up. She walked over and stopped about a meter away from him. Folding her arms, her eyes glinting with reproach, she said, "You can explain now, Officer Chen." He smiled, the small dimple on his right cheek subtly appearing. He leaned forward and reached out, unexpectedly hooking her small hand and pulling her into his embrace. Su Yue was taken aback, then frowned, "I'm seriously waiting for your explanation, Officer Chen Ziming." Her red lips parted slightly, and she uttered his name almost through gritted teeth, syllable by syllable. "Explaining to my darling." He moved closer, tugging her slightly, making her sit on his lap. His eyes were full of amusement. "Hmm? Then you tell me," she was too lazy to comment on his actions. She folded her arms, her almond eyes wide, staring at him, waiting for him to speak. "I have no relationship with her at all." His expression suddenly turned a bit serious, his voice calm, and he gently stroked her fair cheek as he spoke. Su Yue was willing to believe this. Zheng Yan's personality was not something Chen Ziming would like. Clearly, this wasn't what she wanted to hear. She sighed softly, looked at him, and stopped beating around the bush, saying seriously, "Officer Chen, what I want to know is, how many girls like you are there? If they all insult me like this, I'm afraid I won't survive this year."
