Chapter 963: Chapter 963: Imprints of Light and Shadow
Zhu Fei did not respond, instead quietly waiting for what Bai Shan would say next.
He believed that with Bai Shan being so insistent in inviting him now, he must have his own reasons.
Sure enough, after a brief silence between them, Bai Shan continued with a smile:
"Of course, concerning the situation of our Independent Cultivator Alliance, I believe Brother Ye should have some understanding. I wonder if Brother Ye is interested in joining us?"
Upon hearing Bai Shan’s words, Zhu Fei was slightly taken aback.
Wasn’t Bai Shan supposed to talk about the situation regarding the Divine Burning Tower? Why did the topic suddenly shift to joining their Independent Cultivator Alliance?
However, Zhu Fei quickly realized that, fundamentally, he and Bai Shan were not related, and the information about the inside of the Divine Burning Tower was extremely confidential.
If Bai Shan came out with this information without asking questions, Zhu Fei would be the one to doubt his words.
Nonetheless, wanting him, Zhu Fei, to join their so-called Independent Cultivator Alliance was something he clearly had no interest in.
After pondering for a moment, Zhu Fei shook his head with a faint smile and said, "I’m sorry, Brother Bai, I appreciate your offer, but as for joining your alliance, I currently have no such intentions."
After a pause, Zhu Fei continued, "However, regarding cooperation with you, Brother Bai, I can consider that. What do you think, Brother Bai?"
Zhu Fei had also thought it through; cooperating with Bai Shan and his group might not be an issue.
If in the end the two sides can’t work together, it would be fine to part ways once inside the Divine Burning Tower.
For Zhu Fei himself, understanding the situation inside the Divine Burning Tower was what he urgently wanted to know.
He had already made it clear that cooperating with them wasn’t a problem, but prior to that, they had to provide him with some substantial information.
Otherwise, he would have no way of judging the truth of their claims.
Bai Shan clearly realized this and, with a smile, said, "Brother Ye, I understand your point. How about this: I’ll show you something first, and then you can decide whether to cooperate with us or not."
At this point, Bai Shan didn’t push Zhu Fei about joining their Independent Cultivator Alliance.
Considering that Zhu Fei had cultivated to the Profound Immortal Realm, he clearly wasn’t a fool. Nobody would randomly agree to join a force without understanding it first.
That’s neither realistic nor possible.
At this moment, a white orb of light suddenly appeared in Bai Shan’s hand.
He handed the white orb to Zhu Fei, smiling, "Brother Ye, take a look. All you need to do is extend your thoughts into this light sphere, and you should understand my sincerity."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Fei, without hesitation, took the white orb with a smile and immediately extended his Divine Sense into the item containing the light trail.
Instantly, Zhu Fei felt his vision blur.
Soon, rifts of void appeared in Zhu Fei’s consciousness, surrounded by scorched black marks from burning, presenting a grisly and sinister scene.
This is...?
Zhu Fei was slightly shocked, sensing a particular atmosphere in the images he saw, which made him somewhat understand.
Just as Zhu Fei had previously thought, the Divine Burning Tower was indeed a relatively dangerous place.
Inside, there were not only unbearably high temperatures but also invisible and intangible void rifts around.
A slight mistake could result in being caught in one of those void rifts.
Through this light trail, Zhu Fei even saw a rather tragic scene.
It was a cultivator with Heavenly Immortal Peak cultivation, whose body suddenly split in two while traversing a seemingly gentle hillside.
Judging by the wounds, it seemed like it was cut by an extremely sharp object, the cuts smooth without any flaws.
Yet this wasn’t the end of the tragedy for this cultivator, merely the beginning.
As his body fell downward, a mysterious force suddenly started burning fiercely on both halves of his body.
It felt as though some flame was lodged within him, igniting autonomously due to some influence.
But Zhu Fei knew that this was no illusion; it was a real event.
More accurately, as that Heavenly Immortal Cultivator’s body was split, his fate of being burned to death by a force within the Divine Burning Tower was sealed.
In other words, any cultivator who enters the Divine Burning Tower and gets harmed by those void rifts will eventually be ensnared and burned alive by a force within it.
This was something Zhu Fei was entirely unaware of before coming to the Divine Burning Tower.
This indirectly illustrated just how crucial the information about the inside of the Divine Burning Tower was.
If Zhu Fei hadn’t seen this light trail, he wouldn’t have noticed the presence of those void rifts inside the Divine Burning Tower.
Without knowing about the void rifts, he certainly wouldn’t be aware of how terrifying they were.
The information recorded in the light trail Bai Shan provided was brief and somewhat crude, but it was enough for Zhu Fei to gain a rough understanding of the situation inside the Divine Burning Tower.
Thinking this over, Zhu Fei exhaled deeply and handed the white orb with the light trail back to Bai Shan.
After several minutes of silence, Zhu Fei finally spoke again, "Brother Bai, thank you for showing me this. Now I can let you know that I agree to our cooperation this time."
With a pause, Zhu Fei continued, "But before that, I want to know what I’ll be required to do in your group, and how will we divide the items we acquire inside the Divine Burning Tower?"
Upon hearing Zhu Fei’s questions, Bai Shan finally smiled.
He first nodded at Zhu Fei, then said, "At the moment, I don’t have any specific requirements for what you’ll need to do. I just hope that if we encounter enemies, we can assist each other."
With a slight pause, Bai Shan continued, "Regarding the division of items, things we procure individually will belong to us. As for items we acquire together, they will be divided based on our contributions. How does that sound to you, Brother Ye?"
